The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

”My friend flew upwards, he had just taken off, and suddenly there was a blur, and I couldn’t see him anymore!”

The man’s voice tightened, as if he had returned to that frightening moment, re-entering the suffocating mist.

”In that instant, he vanished right before my eyes, without a sound or trace!”

”I was terrified at the time, afraid to stay alone. As I was about to fly up too, the mist above suddenly shook violently, then returned to calm again.”

”I was scared and crouched under a tree root, not daring to move. Then something fell from the sky, and when I looked closely, it was the upper half of my friend’s body.”

Carson Flores and Kaelithra Nixon were captivated by his story.

Killing happens all too often in adventure tales, whether by Demonic Beasts or other cultivators, but never in this bizarre manner.

The man’s voice was steeped in fear: ”My friend’s half body fell not far in front of me; the wound was bloody and jagged, unlike being cleaved by a sharp blade. His face was full of terror, as if he saw something horrifying right before his death.”

”At that moment, I was chilled to the bone and instinctively activated a talisman I spent a fortune on. This talisman could conceal a person’s vitality for a short time, allowing one to evade divine sense scans.”

”I hid under the giant tree root, and then heard the sound of something heavy falling, along with a frantic breathing sound, just next to my ear, sending chills down my spine.”

”The giant creature seemed to be after my friend’s half corpse; I heard the sound of chewing, then it moved away. Unable to resist, I peeked through the gap in the tree root.”

Kaelithra Nixon asked anxiously, ”What was it, was it a Leap Void Beast?”

The man nodded, ”I only saw its silhouette, but it looked very much like the image from your spell, especially the two wings on its back and the tail trailing behind, they were unforgettable.”

”I subconsciously thought we had stumbled into a powerful Demonic Beast’s territory, perhaps the mist was its power. I dared not move, just waited for it to leave, and then something stranger happened.”

Carson Flores widened his eyes, initially thinking it was only Leap Void Beast eating people, but now it seemed otherwise?

”Suddenly, two men in black robes, with hoods over their heads, appeared in the air, hovering not far above me. I was frightened, afraid they’d discover me.”

”The two men stood in mid-air, spoke a few words, then vanished. The Leap Void Beast seemed unaffected by their presence, as if they were together.”

Carson Flores frowned, ”What did they say?”

The man recounted somberly: ”One man said, ’Someone unlucky stumbled in, but it’s dead, lucky we can spare it our feed today.’ Another replied, ’Check again, we can’t afford mistakes, things are at a critical moment, one error and we’re dead,’ the first man answered, ’This area is inherently remote, we’ve set the Mist World, if anyone comes in, we’d know, no need to worry,’ the latter said again, ’Regardless, it concerns the grand project, no mistakes allowed,’ then they both left together.”

Grand project?

Critical moment?

Mist World? Make a mistake and die?

Carson Flores suddenly grasped a sequence of keywords and was inwardly puzzled, why would the Human Race be conducting a grand project in the barren Red River Mountains, and in such secrecy?

What are they doing?

These people were actually with the Leap Void Beast, or perhaps the beast was their pet?

That indeed was peculiar.

Carson Flores urged, ”And after that?”

The man replied, ”Hearing them say they can sense someone entering, I was terrified. When they were far away, I dared not fly, just crawled along the ground guided by memory...”

”At that time, I thought I was doomed, but then something seemed to happen; the previously drifting mist suddenly surged violently, hearing shouting from afar, and it seemed a rift appeared in the Mist World, I fled towards this rift and actually managed to escape.”

”After escaping, I ran without looking back until I completely left the Red River Mountains, only then realizing I had narrowly escaped death. I didn’t dare tell anyone about this, fearing it would bring calamity upon me. I always felt those people weren’t ordinary, likely of significant origin...”
