The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

”Keep the stinger for now, if in the end my points are insufficient, I’ll ask for it then.”

Nerisse Blaine did not accept Carson Flores’s offer fully, but neither did she completely reject it: ”Didn’t you say there are many Crystal Scorpions in this Abyss? Since we’re already here, why not farm some points? Leaving now would be a waste.”

”There’s a lot of good stuff on Immortal Gathering Island; although our goals might be achieved, any extra points can be exchanged for good items. So, how about we team up together?”

Carson had no objections to this. Teaming up with Raelith Rhodes and Maedryn Cobb required him to hide his strength, whereas teaming up with Nerisse Blaine, although still inconvenient for him to use certain cultivation techniques that reveal his identity, he could use the Primeval Myriad Sword Art, and his Carp Dragon Realm strength didn’t need to be concealed.

Moreover, the Starry Sky Magic Demon Snake could also be revealed, since he’d already shown it when he saved Nerisse Blaine before.

”Of course, if we don’t earn points, how can we sleep soundly in bed when we return? Even if we do fall asleep, we might wake up in the middle of the night, get up from bed, and slap ourselves...”

Nerisse Blaine was amused by Carson’s words: ”Exactly, that’s how it is. But when you’re teamed up with me, you don’t need to hide your strength at all.”

Carson grinned: ”I’m just at Carp Dragon Realm strength; Fairy Blaine, you know that already. What strength could I possibly be hiding?”

Nerisse Blaine’s eyes glimmered with laughter: ”If we run into a massive batch of Crystal Scorpions, can we safely escape?”

Carson knew Nerisse Blaine wanted him to reveal something, so he simply showed the Starry Sky Magic Demon Snake pattern on his arm: ”This was a little gift from the Starry Sky Magical Beasts to me. It can devour Demonic Qi and can intimidate magical beasts. But if the opponent is too strong, like someone who has reached Great Land Prime Immortal, the intimidation effect will decrease significantly. However, it should be able to protect the two of us as we retreat safely.”

Nerisse Blaine leaned closer to examine the Starry Sky Magic Demon Snake pattern carefully, exclaiming: ”Is it really this powerful?”

Being so close, Nerisse Blaine was near Carson; he could smell her faint, elusive fragrance—not overwhelming—like orchids in a secluded valley, making him want to take a deep breath.

Carson raised his arm to let Nerisse Blaine have a clearer view while subtly distancing himself a bit without being obvious.

Nerisse Blaine noticed Carson’s action, her elegant eyebrows slightly raised: ”Has anyone ever said you’re a gentleman?”

Carson laughed: ”Many have called me a good person and given me ’good person cards’, but few have called me a gentleman.”

”Good person card?”

Nerisse Blaine blinked and quickly understood the meaning of those three words, her lips slightly curving: ”Are you afraid I’ll give you a ’good person card’, so you’re pre-emptively giving me one instead?”

Carson spread his hands: ”Someone with your status and beauty, who would be concerned with the feelings of a loose cultivator like me? You even invited me to join the Separation Sea Sect. Isn’t that indirectly protecting me? If you’re not a good person, who is?”

Nerisse Blaine smiled charmingly: ”That’s not what you said before. Why, willing to say it now?”

Carson smiled: ”It’s the truth. Before, we didn’t have enough rapport; now, I venture to call us friends. I hope that doesn’t come back to bite me.”

Nerisse Blaine’s eyes brightened, as if stars resided within them, making her smile even more radiant: ”Since we’re friends, you can’t deceive me. After all, being deceived by a friend is truly hurtful.”

Carson felt slightly awkward: ”I roam the world alone, and my guard is probably high, so I might not have shared everything about myself. But as friends, I’ll never do anything to harm you...”

Carson could sense the sincerity in Nerisse Blaine’s words, so he carefully considered and chose a compromise in his response, implicitly revealing that there are things he hasn’t shared yet, but as her friend, he won’t harm her.

Although Carson’s answer was sincere, it seemed somewhat evasive; nonetheless, Nerisse Blaine was quite satisfied with it.

”Then, when we leave this place, under different circumstances, can you answer some of my questions?”

Carson agreed without hesitation: ”Of course, that’s no problem.”

Nerisse Blaine chuckled lightly: ”Good, let’s make it a deal. Honestly, for a loose cultivator who has come this far, I’m really curious about you.”

Carson laughed: ”After we leave here, I’ll personally cook and invite you for drinks.”

Nerisse Blaine’s eyes lit up: ”You know how to cook too?”

Carson laughed heartily: ”Just a bit. I’m a foodie; I believe eating and drinking are fundamental human nature, so even after becoming an Immortal, I don’t want to abandon this habit...”

Nerisse Blaine smiled with her lips pursed: ”Alright, then I’ll wait for it. Now, let’s earn some points... shall we?”

”Shall we!”

Carson agreed readily but quickly added: ”If we run into Maedryn Cobb...”

Nerisse Blaine laughed crisply like silver bells: ”Don’t worry. Privately we’re friends teaming up. Publicly, since you saved me and your strength is low, I’ll protect you and take you through the skies...”
