The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

”Where’s Raelith Rhodes?”

Maedryn Cobb was surprised, but he remained calm, being an outsider here.

Carson Flores made a surprised expression, ”Wasn’t he with you?”

Maedryn Cobb stared into Carson’s eyes and said coldly, ”After you were chased away by the Crystal Scorpions, he went after you...”

Carson looked puzzled, ”He didn’t show up, several Crystal Scorpions were chasing me, and I was running aimlessly, heading downward, which attracted more Crystal Scorpions. I led them in circles and finally used some life-saving measures to hide myself in the sand, suppress my aura, and avoid the Scorpions’ search.”

”Those Scorpions couldn’t find me, circled around for a while, and then each went their separate ways. That’s when I found the opportunity to leave... There are Scorpions everywhere down there, could he have met with trouble?”

Maedryn Cobb stared at Carson’s eyes, then spoke solemnly after a few seconds, ”Let’s wait a bit longer.”

”Alright!”

Carson nodded, stopped speaking, and quietly floated in the air.

After waiting for a long time, Maedryn Cobb stood up and said calmly, ”Nothing’s happened for so long, looks like things don’t look good for him.”

Carson asked, ”What should we do?”

Carson didn’t show any hypocrisy or anxiety because he had essentially confirmed that Maedryn Cobb knew everything.

If that’s the case, why pretend?

A reasonable explanation will suffice; overacting might only make Maedryn Cobb mock him secretly.

Looking at Carson, Maedryn Cobb showed a meaningful smile, ”Earlier, we teamed up entirely because of Raelith Rhodes; you’re just at the strength of a Great Land Fairy. I wouldn’t want to team up with a Great Land Fairy. Since he’s not here, let’s dissolve the team.”

Carson promptly nodded, ”Alright, thank you for your care earlier, Cobb!”

Maedryn Cobb chuckled, ”It was Raelith Rhodes who looked after you, not me. I didn’t take a single stinger from the Scorpions.”

Carson sighed, ”I’ll wait here a bit longer, hoping Elder Rhodes is fortunate enough to return safely.”

Maedryn Cobb nodded, ”Then keep waiting... You mentioned there are quite a few Crystal Scorpions in the Abyss?”

Carson nodded, ”Yes, there are quite a few, but there seem to be other cultivators down there as well. While hiding, I heard intense battles faintly, but couldn’t judge the distance...”

Maedryn Cobb smiled, ”Alright, I’ll go take a look, take care of yourself.”

”Okay!”

Carson cupped his hands, ”Take care, Cobb.”

Maedryn Cobb gave Carson a deep look, then turned and plunged into the Abyss.

Carson let out a breath of relief; Maedryn Cobb indeed proved to be a lone wolf who didn’t like to meddle. He saw through everything but chose to stay detached, avoiding any involvement.

If Maedryn Cobb wanted to interfere, Carson might have had to prepare to take him down.

Carson now combines five paths into one, mastered the Five Elements Great Escape, and possessed Sword Bone coupled with the Eight-Armed Arhat, which gives him absolute advantage in a head-on contest against Maedryn Cobb’s Hand of Gold.

The Hand of Gold ultimately can’t escape the Five Elements, so his natural fighting advantage wouldn’t hold against Carson.

Carson sat cross-legged above Nebula City, waiting quietly.

Maedryn Cobb was currently in the Abyss; if Carson went down, he’d inevitably run into him. Better to bide time here for observation.

Though he planned to help Nerisse Blaine accumulate points, he already had over a thousand points at hand, so he wasn’t in a rush.

A figure drifted over from a distance; Carson turned to look, and his eyes instantly lit up.

Nerisse Blaine!

Seeing Carson, Nerisse Blaine’s previously cool face showed a hint of a smile, flying towards him.

”Kaelen Flores, you’re out!”

Carson smiled, ”Yes, I just got out the day before...”

Nerisse Blaine knew Carson was in the Carp Dragon Realm, so she wasn’t surprised to see him here.

A good opportunity to earn points like this, who with the ability wouldn’t want to earn it?

”Did you come alone?”

Carson answered honestly, ”I came with Raelith Rhodes and Maedryn Cobb.”

Nerisse Blaine showed a strange expression, ”You teamed up with them?”

Nerisse Blaine knew Carson fairly well; his style clearly didn’t match those two. How did they end up teaming together?

Carson nodded, then suddenly asked, ”What do you think of Raelith Rhodes?”

Nerisse Blaine didn’t know why Carson asked this, but he’d always given her a good feeling, and he had saved her life once. So she thought for a moment and replied honestly, ”He thinks deeply and is quite selfish, though that’s not a major flaw, as most cultivators are like that.”

Carson nodded, ”When I came out, he and Maedryn Cobb had just returned from hunting Crystal Scorpions. They happened to meet me, so he proactively suggested that I team up with them...”

Carson recounted the teaming-up situation, and Nerisse Blaine’s expression immediately turned serious, her voice becoming firm, ”He couldn’t possibly feel any guilt toward me. He might harbor ill intentions towards you. Where is he now?”
