Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 694: Chapter 668: Every Choice Shapes the Future

”Sister-in-law, could you not be so blunt?” Liumei blushed bright red at what Qian said.

She’s just an inexperienced young girl, talking about cucumbers right off the bat, is that really okay!!

”I’m just telling the truth, take a little notebook and write it down, Mr Chen’s health class is in session!”

”...Go ahead then.” Liumei realized that when Qian got into her mode of giving popular science talks, she wouldn’t stop without finishing. Denying her that impulse was impossible.

”This has nothing to do with ideology; it’s a matter ruled by the body. Can you control yourself not to blink? The eyes and the ×× are organs on a person, they both have instinctive reactions. Why don’t you scold your eyes for blinking as a promiscuous act? It’s because traditional concepts have blurred the line between love and sex too much, leading many victims to fail at moving past that mental hurdle, thinking they were being too loose and that’s why they felt something for bad people, choosing not to report while forcing themselves into psychological issues or even mental illness. They hate themselves more than they hate the bad people; even the bystanders think having a reaction is the woman’s fault.”

The idea of doing certain things for love and deriving joy from it being happiness is not wrong, but doing the same without being in love and still deriving joy is a fact, it’s an instinct of the body, unrelated to being promiscuous.

”But isn’t this different from Weiwei’s situation?”

”Of course, even though both have been victimized, the circumstances are different, and so are the treatments. The mission of us psychologists is to popularize these normal instincts.”

For victims like the principal, if they go to a psychologist, just a few sessions could stabilize things, but treating minors like Weiwei is relatively more complicated, though no psychological problem is too big of a deal with Qian.

Qian helped Liumei destroy the newspaper, offering a few words of comfort at the same time. These kinds of social pages in newspapers don’t attract much attention; later, sending Weiwei out with Ye Xiaoyu for a few days and when she returns, no one will pay attention to this matter anymore.

In the midst of their conversation, Ye Xiaoyu called.

”Meiwei, I’m on my way back, just 5 minutes to home. He just called saying he wants to apologize to Weiwei, saying he’s had enough; he’s been hearing dog barking sounds every day and hasn’t slept for several nights. What should I do?”

”If he wants to come, let him come. First, take Weiwei out to eat something, bring Weiwei back after 30 minutes exactly, not a minute early, understand?”

”Okay.” For the sake of her sister, Ye Xiaoyu was now listening to Qian.

”Ye Xiaoyu, I’m giving you two choices now, do you want your sister or your dad?”

”I... I choose the side of justice.”

”Alright then, use your connections to get a reporter from a newspaper over here, and then no matter what happens, listen to me. Tomorrow, take your sister out for a half-month trip, when she returns she’ll have a new life.”

”Meiwei, what are you going to do?”

”Don’t worry, I won’t go overboard, I won’t expose Weiwei’s issue.”

”Then... what if I don’t choose justice?”

”I’ll find a reporter myself, I’ll find someone to take Weiwei out for half a month, and you’ll live with the guilt towards your sister for a lifetime.”

No matter which of Qian’s options was chosen, Weiwei would be healed, but how Ye Xiaoyu chose would define her future.

These days meant different things to everyone.

Qian was busy battling with big shots with her girlfriends, openly showing love to her man, and still had time to heal her patients in her spare time.

Liumei and Qiuqiu were busy finding a site, preparing to start their own business.

Narcissus was busy mourning her ”lost love” and speculating about the enigma of Schrodinger, the bodyguard left for her by Qian.

But for Ye Daqian, who committed unforgivable wrongs, only two words remained for him these days: fear.

He had nightmares every day of being bitten by a dog, and the scariest part was hearing the dreadful barking of dogs every early morning.

Slightly echoing inside the room, Lv Zhi initially kept him company out of bravery, but later couldn’t bear it, returning home as it was too frightening, like being haunted.

It’s said that in the past few days Lv Zhi has started burning incense and praying, beginning to believe in karma. Though she never believed in these things normally, facing troubles she hoped for divine blessings, believing that donating more incense money could ward off misfortune.

But it was of no use, from the initial nightmares of being bitten to now feeling as if he was followed by a dog during the day and repeatedly returning to that biting moment whenever he closed his eyes. This type of reaction, scientifically explained, is post-traumatic stress disorder in psychology, where the scene of harm keeps reappearing during a certain period after the incident.

However, Ye Daqian was given a psychological suggestion by Qian intentionally; he came to accept Qian’s ideas as valid, thinking this was retribution, that the fortune teller’s ”great sage” was right.

The late-night barking was actually a result of Huang Mao feeling displeased with Ye Daqian and stealthily entering the hospital at night to play recordings.

Huang Mao was ordered to monitor Qian, fully aware of everything happening around her. Although she didn’t consider herself a good person, seeing the likes of Ye disgusted her too. Her boss hadn’t instructed her to act, but she couldn’t hold back any longer, planting dog barking recordings secretly in the hospital at night.

For Huang Mao, who loves money above all, she seldom does anything without being paid, but this time was different. Watching the way Qian played Ye Daqian skillfully, Huang Mao accidentally got pulled along, covertly helping once.

Though Qian didn’t know it was Huang Mao’s doing, she suspected there was a mysterious person assisting her in getting back at Ye Daqian. Friend, foe, or stranger, it didn’t matter to Qian—just like her current attitude toward the bodyguard by Narcissus’ side, observing and waiting.

She didn’t care who they were as long as they didn’t infringe on her interests or touch the people around her, Qian was willing to slowly grind it out with them.

The reporter Ye Xiaoyu found had arrived, Ye Xiaoyu and Weiwei were not back yet, nor had Mr. Ye arrived, though presumably soon.

The reporter was a young girl, not very tall. Upon entering, Qian extended a hand, intending to shake hands and introduce herself.

”Hello, I am—”

”Ah!!! You’re my idol!” The reporter bounced up and dashed over, leaving Qian dumbfounded.

What was going on? Did she know this young girl?

”Idol, do you not remember me? It’s me!”

”...Mistaken identity?”

”No, at that hostage situation in Q City, on the rooftop holding a child, idol you negotiated with the criminal. I was the one reporting on that incident! I admired your grace! I even wanted to do a special interview with you, but a very fierce man glared at me, and I was dragged into an elevator and sent away. I missed the interview opportunity, how regrettable!”

The little reporter, upon seeing Qian, reacted like a fan meeting her idol, her face flushed with excitement, clutching Qian’s hand and refusing to let go, desperately wishing for Qian’s autograph.

”Oh, it’s you...” Qian rubbed her temples, finally recalling.
