Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 663: Chapter 637: Qian Begins the Counterattack

It’s because the brute is so good at pretending and doing things in secrecy that the actions for which he deserves ten strikes of lightning go unnoticed by anyone.

When the investigators go to investigate, the neighbors all say he treats the child well, never hits him, often takes him out to buy treats and such.

The brute then explodes with his acting skills again, pretending it was just an accidental, one-time act. With only Qian and others witnessing it once, along with Weiwei’s unilateral accusation, the evidence is insufficient.

The situation is already making Liumei and Qiuqiu anxious and angry, yet Qian seems unfazed and keeps her composure, attending treatments and classes regularly. Oh, yes, lately she’s been locking herself in her room, tinkering with bottles and jars. Liumei asked her once what she was doing, Qian smiled and told her she was studying the effects of plant essential oils on animal olfactory senses.

Now hearing Qian say that for Weiwei to completely recover, she must get a verbal apology from the brute, Liumei feels life has lost all hope.

”He’s currently gloating over evading the law; how could he possibly apologize to Weiwei?”

”Nothing is absolute. If he won’t apologize now, it doesn’t mean he won’t apologize in the future.” Qian is quite calm.

”I’m dying of anxiety but you don’t seem worried at all, sis!”

”What’s the use of being anxious? Everything takes a process. Watch the house; I’m going out to run some errands.”

”Where are you going? Don’t you have no classes? What if Weiwei wakes up from her nap looking for you?”

”Take her out for a walk in the sunshine. Let the sunlight chase away the little black dog in her heart.”

Qian enigmatically gestures twice in front of Liumei, ”Don’t you think today’s sun is particularly big and bright?”

”It’s pretty scorching... Sis, why do I feel you’re somehow different today?” Liumei feels something indescribable; Qian’s dressed sharply today, looking like she’s about to cause a stir.

”Well, it’s a bit different because when the sun is big, the heavens are more likely to see; when the heavens see, I feel good.”

After enduring for so long, it’s finally time to close the net, and Qian’s mood is indeed good.

”I still don’t quite understand...”

”If you don’t understand, just watch the house properly. The sun is out, and it’s time for the darkness to recede too.”

Half an hour later, Qian walks the path towards the Ye Family, where several mothers with babies are sunbathing with their children, and Qian clearly hears their complaints.

”What’s going on lately, why are there so many stray dogs!”

”Isn’t it because of the relocation fuss? They’ve all moved upstairs, and the watchdogs and guard dogs from before are abandoned; those people are so low-quality, just letting dogs who’ve been with them for years become strays!”

”With so many dogs gathering together, I’m really afraid they’ll bite children. I’ve heard that before an old man was bitten by a stray dog; don’t know when the dog handlers will come and get rid of these dogs, they’ve been a nuisance...”

Upon hearing this, Qian curls her lips; she indeed remembers correctly, there are many dogs near the Ye Family.

During her previous visit to rescue Weiwei, she clearly remembered how many stray dogs surrounded the neighborhood.

A few minutes later, Qian gracefully and calmly knocks on the Ye Family’s door.

”What are you here for again!” Lv Zhi glares at Qian with hatred.

”Is Ye Daqian home?”

Hearing the voice, Mr. Ye comes out from inside. If Liumei or Qiuqiu were there, seeing Mr. Ye with a cigarette would surely make them furious.

Just as Yu Minglang and Qian said during their analysis of such people, he shows no guilt or fear on his face, a look of calmness.

Seeing Qian come, he even reveals a sly yet complacent expression.

”So it’s you, the big broadcaster. What brings you here? How’s Weiwei lately? Tell her we all miss her; she should come home soon. Though she falsely accused me influenced by you outsiders, as a good father, I won’t hold these things against her. Once she comes back, we’ll forget all past grudges.”

Listening to this, if Liumei or Qiuqiu heard it, they might be so angry as to ground their teeth.

It’s infuriating!

It’s shameless!

It’s...!!!!

But Qian just curls her lips sarcastically, paying no mind.

”I’m here to ask you to apologize to Weiwei. If you don’t apologize, Weiwei will be seriously affected in the future.”

”Seriously? Ah...” The brute shakes his head in feigned concern, pretending to be troubled.

”The child’s sickness troubles me too. In honor of having raised her so long, I can spare a couple hundred bucks, but apologizing is out of the question. I can’t apologize for something I didn’t do; if I apologize, won’t it confirm her false accusations against me? Right, the child’s sick, and only you lunatics would believe what a sick child says, hahaha!”

The dry laugh at the end reveals his shamelessness and the satisfaction he currently feels.

Indeed, he’s done the deeds, made the moves, but what can be done when the law can’t find evidence against him? Mr. Ye’s thoughts at this moment are exactly such.

The unfriendly Lv Zhi beside him also rudely says to Qian, ”Apologize for what! We’ve raised her all these years, and all she does is bite the hand that feeds her, saying Mr. Ye did... haha, she’s got a seductive look and blames others?”

Lv Zhi’s demeanor today is different from that day, when she was extremely arrogant; today, she’s restrained a little.

Qian sees their act and knows she’s guessed right; that day Lv Zhi was deliberately provoking everyone, leaving evidence. But Qian and Minglang noticed her scheme and didn’t let her succeed.

Qian looks at Lv Zhi with a mix of sympathy and disdain, ”It’s pitiful that even though some shameless masculine thinkers may possess it, as a woman, you share such masculine thoughts. I don’t believe you’re unaware of his actions, perhaps you’ve long suspected it in your heart but pretended not to know. Even after it all came to light, you helped this bloodstained man cover up. Speaking broadly, you’re an accomplice; narrowly, when you bury his crimes with ignorant ridiculousness, you also bury your happiness and humanity.”

A bunch of imbeciles.

But Qian didn’t come here today to debate these fools; she knows she can’t change them and has other matters to tend to.

”We don’t have time to waste on people like you, leave before you get beaten!” Lv Zhi still resents the time when Yu Minglang splattered her with paint, and so she demands Qian to leave.

”Exactly, young ones shouldn’t make baseless accusations against others. The law says I’m a good person, don’t waste your efforts, I won’t apologize, never will. Just leave!”

Mr. Ye’s face now carries two big words: smug.

He’s triumphantly telling Qian that no one can deal with him. What can be done when there’s insufficient evidence even if he did do it?

”You’re an idiot.” Qian calmly says.

And this sentence marks the beginning of Mr. Ye’s downfall.
