Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 677: Chapter 651: I’m Completely Serious

Qian compared the watch on her wrist with the jade bracelet Xiaoqiang gave her; the slender design matched well.

She remembered that Narcissus had been dating Zhu Dadao for quite a while now; it was probably about time they got married.

Zhu Dexi was Yu Minglang’s former business partner, and because his calligraphy looked similar to Yu Minglang’s, Qian almost mistook him for her benefactor.

This Zhu Dexi was particularly verbose, so Yu Minglang nicknamed him Zhu Dadao. He was also Narcissus’ blind date.

Narcissus didn’t initially hit it off with him, but Qian’s matchmaking gave them a chance to connect, and they eventually became a couple.

Zhu Dadao and Narcissus had a passionate past, though the two seldom spent time together, but Qian knew that Narcissus valued him greatly.

Narcissus said she wanted to take over the family business, and Qian immediately thought of Zhu Dadao.

Thinking of Zhu Dexi, Narcissus pressed her stress-relief toy more frequently.

”Qian’er, it’s just you and my dad now. I’m breaking up with Zhu Dexi.”

”Oh? You broke up?” Qian squinted her eyes.

Thinking back two months ago, she remembered a woman mentioned Zhu Dadao with a happy face. The woman returned from a trip abroad with an unmentionable identity alongside her but claimed she broke up with Dadao?

”What does marriage feel like?” Narcissus walked to the window, looking at the residential compound. The people in this courtyard were in a different world from hers.

”Not much of a feeling, pretty much the same as before. You just get a certificate, and the assets aren’t yours alone anymore. You have to split between two people ... Oh, and it comes with an ugly house. In the future, I’ll have to figure out how to make this house more tasteful.” Having a husband with bad taste, Qian was quite troubled.

”Sounds really dull. So you see, marriage is so useless. With my current chaotic situation, I don’t even want to think about these romantic things. Naturally, if I don’t want to get married, I’d break up.”

”How did you break up? Did you say it to his face?” Qian knew Zhu Dadao somewhat; he was reportedly very stubborn. She didn’t believe Narcissus said breakup and Dadao agreed.

”Before going abroad, I sent him a message saying that things aren’t working out, and he didn’t reply. It’s been over a month, and I assume he agrees with me by now.”

So, Narcissus felt she had entered the breakup mode.

She had been quite confused these days, feeling something was on the verge of emerging but couldn’t describe it.

”How long have you been seeing Zhu Dadao?”

”Quite a few years, I’d say.”

Narcissus felt an unsaid ending was their ending. Her heart was filled with indescribable sadness.

She suppressed the vague sense of loss in her heart and explained to Qian.

”At different stages of growth, we always like different things. The things that accompany us while growing up will eventually be shelved one day. You can’t let someone at 20 still play with the toys from when they were 3. It’s not to say the 3-year-old didn’t love that toy; it’s just not suitable now. I think I seriously liked him once, but it’s different now.”

Narcissus’s status didn’t allow her to vent her emotions outside, so only with Qian could she share some of her feelings.

Qian was indifferent to her seemingly mature explanation.

”Out of sight, out of mind. The ruthless words spoken during a long-distance relationship were all your own thoughts.”

”I’m heartbroken; can’t you comfort me?” Narcissus thought Qian would offer comprehensive, 360-degree heartwarming advice.

”What should I comfort you about? Apart from yourself, who can make sense of your relationship? You’re decisive now, but if Zhu Dadao shows up, you’ll change your mind immediately. Whatever I say would be a waste of breath. If I say bad things about him and you guys get back together, I’d be the bad guy. If you want to talk, I’ll listen, but don’t expect any guiding opinions from me.”

Women in love are like having a mental disorder. One moment, they’re desperate to break up; the next, the man appears, and they immediately feel better. Whatever people around say ends up offending someone. Qian didn’t want to add to the chaos.

”Are you saying I’m not breaking up seriously? I mean it. I even sent the message, and he hasn’t replied. It’s tacit consent.”

”I didn’t say anything; this is all your own thinking.”

Whether to move forward or step back, Narcissus was confused. She wanted Qian to decide for her, but the consistently supportive Qian remained silent this time.

”Things were fine with Dexi before, but these past months, he’s often gone missing, and it’s hard to get in touch with him. I feel maybe he’s also tired of this kind of relationship... I am tired too.”

Narcissus spoke sadly, while Qian listened with amusement.

”You can’t even fool yourself with lies like that; do you think I’ll believe it?”

Capitalized ”Haha.”

Narcissus wasn’t the type of woman who couldn’t live without a man. She had many things to learn every day. Before, when Dadao was still Yu Minglang’s partner, he frequently disappeared with Yu Minglang for months without any news. Narcissus didn’t complain all these years, and now suddenly claims to be annoyed — she’s bluffing.

”I’m serious! I’m not joking! I’ve wanted to break up for a long time; he’s not suitable for me, he’s excessively talkative, always blabbing endlessly. It’s exhausting...”

As Narcissus vented about Zhu Dadao, Qian inadvertently thought about her Xiaoqiang. Thinking about it made her laugh.

Narcissus was seemingly heartbroken and wanted to find a tissue to wipe her tears. Qian, with no sincerity at all, handed her a crumpled tissue from the coffee table, which Narcissus was about to use until she noticed it’s filthy...

”Oh, sorry, this might be the tissue my dear Xiaoqiang used while doing renovations, maybe for cleaning windows or toilet or something.”

Narcissus threw the crumpled tissue at her face, deeply hurt.

”Hey! I’m sharing my heartbreak and troubles as a woman with you, and you’re laughing so gleefully. Is that appropriate?”

”Is my amusement that obvious?”

”Look in the mirror yourself! So irritating!”

Qian finally couldn’t hold back, revealing an even more radiant smile.

”Since I’ve been discovered, I won’t hide it anymore. Yes, seeing your pathetic look reminds me of the silly things I did back then. Haha, at that time, I thought I was particularly pitiful. Now looking at your silly face, I wonder if I was the same as you — saying one thing but thinking another, and thinking I was clever enough to fool everyone. Tsk tsk.”

Narcissus stood up, started packing the things Qian had laid out back into the box, and Qian hastened to stop her.

”Future big boss, is it appropriate to be so petty? You’ve already given me these things; how come you’re taking them back?”

Narcissus pointed at Qian, heartbroken to the core; this person was simply a master of stabbing hearts!

”I came to you for comfort, not for you to rub salt in my wounds! Are you even my sister?”

”I’ll be your girlfriend later; let me take a call first!” Qian saw the incoming call display and gestured for a pause.

The call was from Ye Xiaoyu.

”You’re saying your dad wants to apologize to Weiwei?”

”Yes, supposedly he had nightmares all night last night and couldn’t take it today, suspicious, always thinking some dog is going to bite him.”

Two days ago, Ye Xiaoyu followed Qian’s instructions to scare Ye Daqian a bit. Qian thought the rascal had done enough shameless things, and his courage should be quite ample. She thought he’d hold up for at least a week.

Unexpectedly, huh...

He chickened out immediately!
