Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 658: Chapter 632: Qian’s Big Secret

”Ah!” A scream came from the second bedroom. Qian put down her cup and walked into the room, seeing Weiwei sitting on the bed, drenched in cold sweat.

”Meiwei! He’s there, he’s right there!” Weiwei pointed in horror to a corner of the room.

Qian went over to hold her, gently patting her.

”It’s okay, it was just a dream.”

Weiwei was experiencing a flashback. After being hurt, a normal person might repetitively recall the past trauma in their mind for a period. During this time, Weiwei not only had nightmares but sometimes screamed when others touched her. These were all reactions of flashbacks.

Women who have been victims of violence, especially those who are quite young, often remain in a state of depression or numbness for a long time. If professional psychological counseling is not promptly provided, this trauma can linger with them for a lifetime.

It might even affect their future marriage. Qian had seen many such cases: women who, in adulthood, feel nothing in their married life with their husbands, harboring hostility and defensiveness towards men, unable to open their hearts to the world, because there’s a voice deep inside them constantly reminding them how full of harm the world is.

”Meiwei, I feel so painful living... as soon as I close my eyes, he’s there. He hits me, makes me feel so dirty...”

”Baby, this is not your fault.”

Qian used the term ”baby” for her, a particular intervention method used by psychologists for such patients. When Qian called her ”baby,” Weiwei’s eyes turned red.

”It’s my fault. It would be better if I wasn’t born. If only some other uncle had adopted me, none of this would have happened. It’s all my fault...”

Denial of one’s existential value, this is another unique psychological trait in women who have been harmed.

Qian initially thought that treating this as a case of depression with sand tray therapy would suffice, but didn’t expect that depression was just the tip of the iceberg. Underneath lay so many unknown secrets.

It seemed like a change in treatment approach was necessary.

Now, Weiwei needed to vent her fears regarding this incident, or else this fear would turn inward, halting the treatment of her depression and potentially developing into other mental illnesses.

Seeing Weiwei in such a state, Qian felt no sympathy whatsoever for the tragic fate that might befall that beastly man.

Everyone thinks that physical harm is the most frightening, but who understands how painful the scars on the soul can be?

For instance, if someone hits you out of the blue while walking on the street, the visible wound will eventually scar after treatment. But dealing with assault isn’t just physical harm; the most terrifying part is the mental and societal slander, with societal slander coming from the outside but mental scars left for oneself.

A person’s heart is hurt—it can’t be seen or touched, and only the individual knows about it. One can only let that wound deep inside fester and become incurable. Can time heal everything?

Some wounds can, but some cannot. Without professional intervention, the psychological trauma someone like Weiwei experiences might never heal.

People see a living person with a normal appearance, realizing only years or decades later that the heart remains pierced, invisible to others. This severe psychological trauma might even be passed down to her next generation.

Women who have suffered violence might, after having their own children, exhibit uncontrollable abusive behaviors towards their kids. All this is due to the unhealed scars within.

Watching this trembling little girl, Qian became even more determined in her plan to rid society of harm. Simultaneously, she decided to change Weiwei’s treatment approach, starting with emotional release.

Yu Minglang brought back a bruised and swollen Qiuqiu and a Yu Liumei rubbing her arm.

While changing shoes, Liumei complained, ”Lang, you’re such a jerk, you even hit a woman!”

”You’re a woman? When you aimed at my reproductive organs, you were pretty masculine!” Yu Minglang had sustained some minor injuries but was in better condition than the two beside him.

The three had a hearty fight, which somewhat alleviated their pent-up anger.

Yu Minglang held back and didn’t exert too much strength, merely sparring with them to help everyone expel their inner rage.

”You know, I feel a lot less upset. Now that I think about it, Qian was right. If I had just gone over there to kill, wouldn’t that give the bastard evidence to bite back?” After the fight, Qiuqiu felt considerably relieved.

Punching Yu Minglang in the chest, ”Thanks, buddy!”

”Let’s have a drink later. I don’t need to return to the team tonight.”

”Sure, we’ll have Qian cook up a couple of dishes for us.” Friendships among men are forged in battles; after being beaten up by Yu Minglang, Qiuqiu concluded Yu Minglang was someone worth befriending.

”No way, she’d burn the kitchen! Qian, let’s take Weiwei out to eat!” Yu Minglang called out, seeing Qian had not joined them.

The room was empty, and as Yu Minglang wondered where Qian had gone, the neighboring apartment door opened in the hallway.

Qian emerged from Ye Xiaoyu’s home, carrying a notebook and signaling for silence.

What was going on?

As the three approached, Qian lowered her voice, ”You three return to our place and keep quiet; don’t interrupt my treatment.”

Treatment? Liumei reflexively looked at the sand tray in the living room; it was still there.

”Sis, aren’t you playing in the sand with Weiwei?”

”Sand tray therapy no longer satisfies the needs of the current treatment stage. I’m going to supplement it with an empty chair therapy.”

”Empty chair?” What’s that?

”I’ll fill you in later. You three get on with whatever, but don’t disturb me, and however loud it gets over here, don’t come in to check.”

Qian didn’t have time to explain further, signaling Yu Minglang to take them to their home. She shut the door and continued the treatment.

Yu Minglang almost always obeyed Qian’s words. If she said treatment, then treatment it was. Inside, he was about to suggest playing cards with Yu Liumei and Qiuqiu when he suddenly got drawn to something in the living room sand tray.

Yu Minglang’s sixth sense and memory were better than most. He remembered every detail of something he’d seen. Before bringing Qiuqiu and the others downstairs, the sand tray had been empty.

This had been assembled in the time he’d been downstairs.

Yu Minglang walked into the room shared by Weiwei and Liumei, reaching out to feel the blanket, which was still warm.

This meant Weiwei had just gotten up recently, proving that this intricate sand tray had been crafted by his beloved Qian.

These actions were carried out under the influence of subconsciousness. Yu Minglang’s intuition told him there was a secret of his beloved Qian hidden in here.
