Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 500: Chapter 474: Kind of Makes Me Want to Laugh (1,000 Monthly Tickets Bonus)

Qian found Jia Xiufang’s summary both laughable and frustrating.

”Mom, is that all you got after watching for so long? With your comprehension skills, if this were a college entrance exam essay, you wouldn’t get a single point. You’re missing the core socialist values and promoting negativity. Are you suggesting we learn from her just because she acted out against society for her relatives? Sure, her situation is sympathetic, but it’s not something to emulate!”

Even if that woman was pitiful, her actions were definitely wrong.

First, she wanted her brother to evade judicial trial on grounds of mental illness, and then she went on to hold the innocent Jia Xiufang hostage. Though she’s pitiable, her actions are absolutely unacceptable.

”I’m just using it as an analogy. Seeing her worry about her brother made me think of my own disappointing second brother. I fear you and your brother might end up like that. They say siblings are the closest, but once you’re married with your own families, you begin to drift apart. I don’t want to see you and your brother end up like me and your second uncle...”

”Did my second uncle ask you for money again?”

Qian frowned.

Since the property demolition when second uncle acted behind their back, Qian and Yu Minglang had taught him a lesson. He probably realized Qian’s family wasn’t the same as before, so he stopped offending Jia Xiufang directly and now clung to her every day, pretending to be poor and pitiful.

Jia Xiufang hated the shameless behavior of her second brother at the time but found it hard to refuse him. She was so annoyed by his constant pestering that Qian foresaw this situation before she went to school. You can’t judge shameless people by normal standards.

Ordinarily, if a situation was so tense, they’d be too embarrassed to face Jia Xiufang. But second uncle’s family exemplified what it means to be shameless. Acting as if those past misdeeds weren’t theirs, any opportunity to use the elderly as an excuse to bother Jia Xiufang.

So Qian gave Jia Xiufang strict orders: no lending money, and if there’s any trouble, call the emergency contact number Yu Minglang left, and Xiaoqiang would send someone to handle it. If she dared to lend a penny to second uncle, she shouldn’t blame Qian for being mad.

Jia Xiufang was a little scared of her daughter and wouldn’t dare disobey her words, so when second uncle asked for money a few times, he never got a cent.

”It’s not borrowing money; our shop front is ready, isn’t it? You rented out your unit, and another one is being renovated for rent. It’s almost finished. Your second uncle said he wants to rent it for your cousin. He offers to pay whatever the outsiders do, saying your cousin is unemployed at home without a livelihood and wants to start a small business. I’m a little troubled, as renting to someone is still renting.”

”Haha, renting to someone is still renting? That’s funny! Mom, you’ve been in business for so long, how can you not see through this? The weasel gives holiday greetings to the hen but has no good intentions! Sounds nice, offering rent, my foot! He’s definitely going to say ’family has no money, wants to pay rent later,’ right?”

Paying rent later means, in business lingo, using the property first and paying rent afterward. Paying rent upfront means paying first before using.

”Yes, that’s what he said. How did you know?” Jia Xiufang admired Qian’s insight.

”I also know he’s planning not to pay any rent, wanting his useless son to occupy our shop front without giving us a dime. When you ask for rent, they’ll cry poverty, stay for three to five years. If property prices rise by then, they’ll come with a bag of money and forcibly buy your shop front, and that money would just cover the original cost of your property. So, not only will they live rent-free for years, but you’d also have to compensate for the property appreciation!”

Property prices will soon rise. The unit under Qian’s name and the one Jia Xiufang has were chosen personally by Mr. Yu, and the area will become prosperous in the future. Prices will multiply several times, and these houses worth millions could ultimately be bought forcibly by second uncle’s family for ten, fifteen thousand, which is foreseeable.

”Really?”

”Why not? Is there anything that family won’t do? Now you have this construction material recycling business, you’re not short on cash. According to the plans I gave you, in the next few years, you need to buy several more such shop fronts. By then, second uncle will lead his whole family to kneel in front of you, crying his hardships. He’ll say you have so many houses, why not sell him one, rob you of the property, and then boast to outsiders that he bought it himself while saying you charged your own brother!”

”This is infuriating!” Jia Xiufang was so energized by Qian’s hypothetical statements that she spat on the floor several times. Chen Zilong was disgusted too.

”That’s too shameless!”

”Da Long, sometimes mom doesn’t know and can be soft-hearted. If she makes a mistake, call me, and I’ll come back to handle it. If anyone dares lend our house or money to those ingrates, I’ll put all the blame on you, got it?!”

”Yes, sis, I remember. I remember how second uncle bullied our family!”

Qian patted Chen Zilong’s shoulder, ”Completing the mission, perform well!”

No dreams.

The next day, Qian went to Yu Minglang’s house. The place was cold and lacked the feel of home; he must’ve been gone for a long time.

He was likely working overtime; Qian hadn’t received any messages from him in days.

She opened the windows, wiped the dust off the furniture with a cloth, then mopped the floors room by room. The house was too big, making it quite a hassle to clean. Qian tidied the place from top to bottom and left him a note to let him know she had been there.

After finishing, she left.

Just as she reached the apartment complex gate, she saw Mr. Yu walking towards her, which surprised Qian.

”Uncle?”

”Ah, it’s Qian.” Mr. Yu was slightly surprised to see Qian too.

”I came to dust off Minglang’s house. You...?”

”Oh, I’m just taking a stroll.”

”Well, take your time. I’m leaving now.”

Qian said goodbye and walked a couple of steps before turning back, noticing Mr. Yu’s solitary figure, and she thought again.

”Uncle, are you here to visit an old friend?”

”Um, no, just wandering around. Why, young girl, want to keep an old man company for a bit?”

”I happened to have nothing to do. I’d like to hear some wisdom from your experience and get some ideological education.” Qian felt Mr. Yu was acting a bit strangely, so she was concerned about leaving him wandering alone.

She wasn’t feeling too assured.

”Well, let’s walk together. You youngsters are always busy with work or school, and no one comes back to keep me company for a chat.”

”What about Auntie?”

”Don’t mention that unreasonable old lady to me. She ignores me, so I don’t talk to her either!” Mr. Yu said with anger.

Oh, they had another argument about little aunt? Qian saw Mr. Yu’s expression and knew he lost again. She felt a bit sympathetic, but why did seeing this stubborn old man’s frustrated face also make her want to laugh?
