Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 487: Chapter 461: Gaining Recognition

”You didn’t wait here all day, did you?” Qian suddenly realized that Wang Yafei didn’t have her contact information. He only knew she was a student at this school and didn’t even know her major.

And now it was already evening.

Wang Yafei awkwardly averted his gaze, saying uncomfortably, ”Actually, it hasn’t been that long.”

He had been waiting from 4 p.m. until now. He was planning to leave, but unexpectedly saw Qian.

”You could have contacted me through Mr. Liu.”

”Ah! How did I forget that? I just thought you were a student at this school, so I figured if I waited by the gate, I’d see you...”

Yeah, he could have just contacted Mr. Liu. How did he make things so complicated?

Qian saw Wang Yafei’s look of sudden realization and couldn’t help but find it amusing.

Even smart people have their off days, but Wang Yafei’s actions were kind of cute and silly.

As Xiaoqiang said, someone who can wait outside a campus like that has plenty of patience, no wonder Yu Xiaoqiang valued him so much—gave him special consideration and even used yesterday’s opportunity to give him some guidance.

”Go ahead, what do you need me for.”

”I wanted to thank you. I’ve realized that I can’t join the company under my current condition. Ignoring issues isn’t a solution. I need to get treatment, and once I’m better, I’ll take the test again!”

After competing with Yu Minglang, Wang Yafei’s arrogance took a hit.

He went back thinking for a long time and suddenly understood.

There is always someone better. He believed he was unbeatable until he saw Yu Minglang and realized that the world spins just the same without him.

If Minglang had been arrogant, perhaps Yafei wouldn’t have reflected so deeply, but Minglang’s humble and reserved manner, merely by doing nothing, enlightened Yafei.

It’s not that people don’t respect others; it’s just that people standing on a hill think that the norm feels like condescension when in truth it’s just insecurity.

Qian listened to him and nodded appreciatively.

”You’ve got great insight. Some people take a lifetime to figure it out, and you did it in a day.”

She seldom gave such high praise. This young man was impressive; many set themselves high, but few admit they aren’t there yet. His adaptability at such a young age promises a bright future, justifying Yu Minglang’s confidence in him—though Minglang wouldn’t admit it himself.

But Qian knew her man had recognized his talent, and when Yu Minglang set sight on someone, he’d often put them through the wringer.

”I want to sincerely apologize to you, and I’d like to ask if you’d continue being my psychologist, help me confront my mental barriers. I need to heal and then I’ll retake the test to join the company I love.”

”There are so many good workplaces, why are you so set on this one?”

”Before yesterday, it was about earning more money, but after meeting Mr. Yu, I felt that working under such a wise boss would offer greater opportunities.”

”Mr. Liu is more professional than me; you could also go to her.” Qian acknowledged his sharp eye.

”No, I want you.” Wang Yafei said firmly.

Because he once said Qian wasn’t fit to be a doctor, he had always felt guilty. He didn’t want to switch doctors; he wanted Qian to help him.

”...Okay, I’ll talk to Mr. Liu for you.”

”This is for you... you’re a doctor worth recognizing.” Wang Yafei quickly pulled out an envelope, stuffed it into Qian’s hand, and ran off before she could react, his speed unmatched by her attempts to give chase.

”Hey!” Qian called after him, but he didn’t stop.

Opening the envelope, she found several crisp bills—was this the payment for medical treatment?

Alongside the money was a note saying, ”Mr Chen, you’re the best!”

Qian was left speechless; this silly kid...

This silly kid gave her quite a bit of money. Of course, to Qian, she made more than this per hour in her past life, but it wasn’t about the amount; it was the recognition of her professional expertise. Paying a doctor is right and proper; she decided to take it.

Not far away, a camera with a long lens silently captured the scene. A young man in a baseball cap, wearing a long-sleeved tee and jeans, muttered to himself, ”This evidence should be sufficient, right?”

The cap’s brim covered golden hair, with a little golden tuft peeking through the gap. Passersby glanced back out of curiosity; spotting a foreigner was rare, prompting a second look.

The blond-haired, blue-eyed young man gleefully patted his camera; another job done perfectly. The joy of earning a bit of cash was delightful~

”Qian! What are you looking at?” Shi Touyu returned, waving his hand in front of Qian’s face.

Qian refocused her gaze forward; she had an eerie feeling of being watched just a moment ago, but all she saw was a retreating figure.

”Nothing, let’s go.”

The following day, after class, a senior sister stopped Qian and told her Mr. Liu was looking for her, asking Qian to go to Mr. Liu’s house. As it was nearly lunchtime, Qian picked up two dishes from the cafeteria before heading over.

Mr. Liu had prepared simple home-cooked meals, showing that Qian wasn’t treated as an outsider.

”Why did you bring food? Students shouldn’t waste money like this.” Mr. Liu remarked as Qian arrived with the food.

”It’s okay, I’m not short of cash.”

Qian giggled. She really wasn’t short of money now, collecting rent every month, having already rented out the storefront her parents had provided, as well as the fully furnished place her in-laws had given, ensuring a steady income more reliable than many regular jobs.

Visiting a teacher’s home typically involves helping with cooking, but recalling her own culinary skills... well, better to spend a bit of money instead.

Speaking of money, Qian suddenly remembered and pulled out the envelope Yafei had given her the night before, placing it on the table and handing it to Mr. Liu.

”What’s this, bribery? Did you know, I called you over here to share some good news?”

Mr. Liu joked, thinking Qian was submitting another paper like before.

She had a good reason for calling Qian; there was good news to share.

”Good news?” Qian’s fingers held the envelope.

”Yes, your application for advanced credit was recommended by your class advisor and has been approved by the academic affairs office. But you must seize this opportunity, avoid arrogance, and remain steady. If you miss this chance, you might not even get your bachelor’s degree.”

”Don’t worry, I’ll make it.” Qian assured, slowly retracting her fingers, intending to take back the envelope.

”What’s this, giving something only to take it back?” Mr. Liu asked, puzzled.
