Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1016: Chapter 1014: Gu Xi, You Be the Scout

Following the vice leader into the Game World, Gu Xi immediately sensed that this Game World before his eyes was even more chaotic than the Mirror Image Underground Palace where Yalidov was located.

Although Yalidu City was a layout of seven or eight layers of time and space, the entire city at least had a sense of order, with what was right being right, and what was wrong being wrong, giving it the appearance of a city.

But the Game World before him was different; its chaos was abrupt and chaotic.

Clearly walking just fine, the road suddenly turned into mid-air.

Sometimes, there was clearly nothing ahead, yet half of a living human body would hang upside down from the sky.

Some trees grew sideways, while some buildings were directly stretched and enlarged, or compressed into a cluster.

There simply was nothing normal in this environment.

Upon entering this Game World, Gu Xi heard an entry prompt, but the sound was intermittent, not only inaccurate but also causing a headache for the Players entering the Game World.

”Don’t listen to the prompts. This time we are here to rescue the Guild leader. Right, Gu Xi, since you are now on the Shooter path, you should act as the Scout.

These are for you.

This is the Guild leader’s contact information, and this is a locator used to ensure your safety.

You probably don’t know how to draw maps, so here is an automated map manual. As long as you walk through an area, the map will automatically draw itself. Once you find the Guild leader, just send it back with a crow.”

Gu Xi wanted to explain that he was still an Undead Mage, with both military power and heroes at his disposal.

But the vice leader didn’t give Gu Xi a chance to explain, quickly stuffing everything into his hands.

Then the vice leader earnestly told Gu Xi, ”Once you meet the Guild leader, the contact in your hand will have some slight changes to prove the Guild leader is real; other than that, no matter which Player you encounter, under no circumstances should you stop.”

”Why?”

”There are too many Game Worlds fused here, creating anomalies, and no one can guarantee they’re facing an anomaly or a living person.

Just focus on your scouting task and don’t mess around.”

Gu Xi wanted to refuse, but he already had everything in hand, so he couldn’t say much more.

Thus, Gu Xi turned around, lifting his Illusion Magic Wand, and headed off in one direction.

The vice leader saw Gu Xi running off like that, intending to stop him, but realized the direction Gu Xi was heading was exactly where the Guild leader was in trouble.

This situation left the vice leader somewhat dumbfounded.

”Did he really change his job?

This speed is impressive; did he comprehend some different Talent?”

But at this moment, no one answered the vice leader.

After Gu Xi left, the vice leader started organizing the team; a whole forty Players had come along.

This was the exact number for a standard regiment; the vice leader had participated in pioneering, step by step rising to the position of vice leader in the Sun Mage Corps.

Organizing now was second nature to him.

However, there were too many newbie Players here, with no cooperation between them.

This required rearranging, so his attention shifted from Gu Xi to these Players following along.

And away from the vice leader’s sight, Gu Xi didn’t act like a typical Scout, sneaking, taking detours, and cautiously running.

Gu Xi saw clearly that this world before him was full of problems.

Staying here one more minute only increased the danger.

Thus, Gu Xi immediately released the Holy Silver Evil Coffin.

Then, fully activating his Pathfinding Skill, he kept a close eye on the road ahead, guiding the Holy Silver Evil Coffin forward.

This was the first time since obtaining the Evil Coffin that Gu Xi could, with his naked eyes, keep up with its speed.

Previously, the speed of the Evil Coffin was too fast, and the headwind would press Gu Xi’s eyes shut.

In the end, he had to let the Evil Coffin run on its own.

Now it was different; Gu Xi stood at the front of the Holy Silver Evil Coffin, his eyes not only keeping up but also guiding its path.

With Gu Xi’s current agility, it was easy to point out safe spots for advancement, continually marking the direction.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi kept an eye on the surroundings to guard against sudden enemy appearances that might hinder his progress.

But the further the Holy Silver Evil Coffin went, the grimmer Gu Xi’s expression became.

By this point, Gu Xi realized the Game World before him was not in good shape.

The deeper he went, the more frequent the eerie and twisted areas became.

Sometimes, gaps would appear on the ground that were impassable.

Sometimes, Gu Xi could see four or five structures pressing in.

Gu Xi also knew, as a Scout, it wasn’t enough to just pass himself; he had to think about those following behind.

If he could pass but those behind him couldn’t follow his route, then what was the point of his role as a Scout?

Therefore, while finding paths, Gu Xi had to consider the march routes and methods.

Clearly explosive paths that collapsed after passing, Gu Xi would not take.

Paths that triggered traps after passing, Gu Xi wouldn’t tread either.

Additionally, Gu Xi occasionally checked if any abnormal conditions suddenly appeared nearby.

He couldn’t have the path collapse after he’d passed it.

Thus, the Holy Silver Evil Coffin sometimes retraced its steps, running back and forth to ensure the final path.

Once the route was confirmed, Gu Xi would be one step ahead in sending back the newly drawn maps.

This ensured the backup force wouldn’t be too distant, preventing last-minute route changes when they arrived.

In this rapid yet careful manner, Gu Xi spent nearly thirty minutes before finally locating where the Chaoyang Radiance Guild leader was.

The reason Gu Xi was so sure that amongst the group ahead was the Chaoyang Radiance Guild leader was because he saw a Three-legged Golden Crow Corpse, clearly past Level 20, circling in the sky.

Compared to serving as the sun in the Chaoyang Radiance Guild, this zombified Three-legged Golden Crow was showing its true nature.

Though an Undead, the aura it emitted was the one Undead feared most.

The strongest sunlight could be harmless to Undead, or it could burn them to ashes.

The Three-legged Golden Crow circling in the sky was in full combat mode.

Just one glance in its direction made Gu Xi’s vision go white; he felt like he was about to go blind.

At that moment, Gu Xi hastily launched a signal into the sky.

”I am from the Chaoyang Radiance Guild; I am here to support the Guild leader.”
