Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Han Ning’s Threat and Su Qinghe’s Question

Ever since they were kids, the thing Wang Zibo hated hearing most from Han Ning was ”Shu Dao Mountain”!

There was a simple reason for this!

Because every time Han Ning said it, if he didn’t confess honestly, he was guaranteed to get a ”pork stewed with rattan cane” courtesy of his mom and dad that very night!

What could he do? She had dirt on him!

He was like meat on a chopping block, completely at her mercy!

Wang Zibo hesitated for a moment, then clenched his jaw and steeled himself. He made a decision!

’Better you die than me!’

’Sorry, Brother Fan!’

he thought to himself, then said to Han Ning, ”Yeah, Brother Fan was indeed called away by Su School Beauty.”

Hearing Wang Zibo’s words, Han Ning nodded slightly. ’Just as I thought!’ she mused.

”Do you know what they went to do?”

After a moment of thought, Han Ning continued to ask.

”Er...”

”They probably went to eat. What else would they be doing?”

Wang Zibo answered.

”Went to eat?”

Han Ning frowned, repeating the words under her breath.

After thinking for a moment, she asked again, ”Um, let me ask you, do you know what the relationship between Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe was before?”

”Huh?”

Wang Zibo’s heart skipped a beat. ’Could it be... Princess Ning knows?’

”What... what relationship?”

He decided to play dumb.

”Wang Zibo!”

At his words, Han Ning’s voice rose a few notches. ”I’ll ask you one more time. Do you know what the relationship between them is?!”

”No, I mean, what kind of relationship?”

”I really don’t know!”

Wang Zibo said with a pained expression, ”Princess Ning, you’ll have to ask Brother Fan. He’s the one involved. I’m not clear on the details!”

Wang Zibo refused to say anything. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to sell out Gu Yifan, but that he was afraid Han Ning wouldn’t be able to handle it if she found out and would do something crazy!

After all, based on his understanding of Han Ning over so many years, if she really found out Gu Yifan was dating Su Qinghe, she would probably go berserk!

Even though she was the one who pushed Gu Yifan away with her own hands!

But what did that matter? She was Princess Ning!

Seeing him say this, Han Ning gave him a suspicious, frowning glance, but ultimately didn’t press him any further.

”Fine!”

”I’ll believe you for now!”

Han Ning said lightly.

Hearing this, Wang Zibo quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

”So... I’ll be going?”

All he wanted was to get away from there as fast as possible!

’Dammit, no!’

’Brother Fan, you owe me another one for this!’

’Why should I have to suffer for the mess you three created?!’

’This is so hard for me!’

’Sob, sob, sob...’

Wang Zibo wailed inwardly, on the verge of tears.

”Oh.”

Han Ning seemed to be lost in thought. Hearing Wang Zibo’s words, she nodded absently.

Seeing her nod, Wang Zibo felt as if he’d been granted amnesty. He immediately turned to flee.

The instant he turned, Han Ning’s voice rang out again. ”Wait a second!”

Wang Zibo’s steps faltered. He turned back reluctantly, looking at Han Ning with a pained expression. ”Princess Ning, what else can I do for you?”

”Did you ride your electric scooter to school today?”

Han Ning asked casually.

”Yeah, why?”

Wang Zibo asked, momentarily stunned.

”Oh, then give me a ride home!”

Han Ning said.

”Oh, oh~”

Wang Zibo’s heart instantly relaxed. So she just wanted a ride home!

’No problem, then!’

As long as she wasn’t asking about Gu Yifan, he would do anything she asked!

...

「Meanwhile, on Gu Yifan’s end.」

He and Su Qinghe had arrived at the school cafeteria.

’Holy crap!’

’This is terrifying!’

Gazing at the long, dragon-like queues inside the cafeteria, Gu Yifan felt a headache coming on.

”Um... Qinghe, are we sure we want to eat in the school cafeteria?”

He turned his head and asked Su Qinghe.

”Mhm~”

Although she was a little confused by his sudden question, Su Qinghe didn’t overthink it and nodded lightly.

”Well... alright!”

Hearing this, Gu Yifan could only nod in resignation.

The two of them then got in line behind one of the long queues.

...

About twenty minutes later, it was finally their turn!

However, there were hardly any meat dishes left at the service window, only some assorted vegetables—basically the kind with no real substance to them!

”Why don’t we... eat somewhere off campus?”

Su Qinghe said quietly, a little embarrassed.

”Forget it, let’s just eat here!”

Gu Yifan shook his head and said, ”Hey, Qinghe, go find us a table. I’ll get the food!”

”Oh, okay~”

Su Qinghe could only nod in response.

As she was leaving, however, she stuffed her meal card into Gu Yifan’s hand. ”Use... use my card.”

Gu Yifan wanted to refuse, but on second thought, he didn’t have a meal card himself. The school cafeteria now wasn’t as advanced as in later years where you could use mobile payments, so he had no choice but to accept it.

After ordering the last portion of the meat dish, Gu Yifan randomly picked a few more vegetable dishes. When he swiped the card, the total came out to 30 yuan.

Gu Yifan was stunned.

’Damn, this little bit of food costs 30 yuan?’

’As expected!’

’School cafeterias are a total rip-off, both now and in the future!’

Fortunately, the cafeterias of this era wouldn’t have scandals involving things like ”duck necks” or ”lymphatic meat.” On that point, at least, they still had a conscience!

Moreover, Gu Yifan had also just noticed that the remaining balance on Su Qinghe’s meal card was less than fifty yuan.

’Looks like this Hanhan is really having a tough time these days!’

The top-up window was right next to him, so Gu Yifan carried the two trays of food over and casually loaded three thousand yuan onto the card.

’Three thousand yuan for three months... hmm... that should be enough to last Su Qinghe until the end of the college entrance exams!’

He had actually wanted to add more, but he was afraid of scaring Su Qinghe by adding too much.

Besides, he didn’t know if they gave refunds for any unused balance on the card, so he decided to just add three thousand for now, based on a thousand yuan per month.

’Anyway, if it’s not enough, I can just add more later!’

After topping up the card, Gu Yifan carried the food over and found where Su Qinghe was sitting.

Although Su Qinghe was a little curious why Gu Yifan had taken so long, she didn’t ask.

”You must be starving.”

”Hurry up and eat!”

Gu Yifan smiled as he placed the tray with the last portion of the meat dish in front of Su Qinghe.

At first, Su Qinghe didn’t notice, thinking both meals were the same. But when Gu Yifan started eating, she saw that his tray was filled with nothing but vegetable dishes.

Su Qinghe froze for a second. Her nose tingled, and overwhelmed with emotion, she suddenly felt like crying.

Noticing that something was off with Su Qinghe, Gu Yifan looked up at her, smiled faintly, and asked softly, ”What’s wrong?”

Su Qinghe bit her lower lip, her eyes red-rimmed. Her voice choked with emotion as she asked, ”Why are you so good to me?”
