Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Meeting Again! Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe’s First Official Date?

Han Ning was frightened by her mom’s attitude.

She was a little scared and said weakly, ”Y-Yes...”

”Something this huge happened, and you didn’t say anything sooner?!”

Ye Wanqing couldn’t sit still anymore. She shouted at her daughter, questioning her.

Being yelled at by her mom like that, Han Ning’s nose tingled, and big, fat tears started streaming from her eyes.

”Mom, I... I didn’t do it on purpose. I was scared too, I was afraid...”

She bit her lower lip, speaking through her sobs with a wronged expression.

”Alright, let’s not talk about that for now!”

Ye Wanqing couldn’t be bothered that her daughter was crying. She waved her hand dismissively.

”Xiaoning’er, tell Mom the truth. How is Yifan right now?”

”Did he really jump? Is he hurt?!”

After a moment’s thought, she nervously grabbed her daughter’s hand and asked again.

She couldn’t help it! There was no way for her not to be anxious!

Something so serious had happened between her daughter and Gu Yifan, and she was only just now finding out.

If something had really happened to Gu Yifan, she wouldn’t know how she could ever face his family again!

”Mom! You’re hurting me!”

Han Ning struggled, tears streaming down her face.

”Ah?”

”Er... I’m sorry, Xiaoning’er. Mom just got a little worked up.”

Hearing her daughter’s cry of pain, Ye Wanqing realized she had lost her composure and quickly let go of her hand.

Han Ning pressed her lips together and said nothing.

She just looked at her mom, her small face filled with a sense of grievance.

Seeing her silence, Ye Wanqing took a moment to compose herself.

She looked at her daughter with a serious expression and said, ”Xiaoning’er, hurry up and tell me, did Yifan actually jump or not?”

Seeing her mother’s stern face, Han Ning had no choice but to nod obediently. ”Gu Yifan... he jumped, but...”

But before she could finish, her mom cut her off!

”What?!”

Ye Wanqing’s voice shot up an octave, her face a mask of disbelief.

”He really jumped?!”

”Something this huge, you should have told me sooner!!!”

”Let’s go, we’re going now! Which hospital is Yifan in? We need to get over there right away!”

”No!”

”I have to call your dad and tell him about this!”

...

Ye Wanqing was instantly as frantic as an ant on a hot pan, her words becoming incoherent.

As she spoke, she prepared to call Han Ning’s father to have him come back and figure out how to handle this.

After all, with something this major, she couldn’t handle it on her own. If they waited for Gu Yifan’s family to come knocking on their door, their friendship would truly be over!

”Mom, wait!” Han Ning saw what was happening and quickly called out to stop her.

Ye Wanqing stopped in her tracks and glanced back at her daughter.

She frowned, her tone impatient. ”What is it now? I need to tell your dad about this right away!”

”It’s been so long since it happened!”

”If we don’t go see that boy Yifan soon, there’ll be no justifying it!”

At this point, she was burning with anxiety and had no time to soothe her daughter’s feelings!

”Mom!”

”Wait a second!”

”Gu Yifan is fine!”

Han Ning quickly blurted out.

”Hm?”

This time, it was Ye Wanqing’s turn to be stunned. ”What did you just say?”

”I said, Gu Yifan is fine!”

Han Ning repeated.

”No!”

”Didn’t you just say he jumped off the building?”

Ye Wanqing’s mind was a mess. She furrowed her brows.

”I did!”

”But he’s not hurt!”

”I just saw him at his house an hour ago!”

Han Ning explained.

Ye Wanqing: ”...”

’Jumped from the rooftop and is fine...???’

She gave her daughter a suspicious look but saw no sign that she was lying.

She knew her daughter; she wouldn’t dare lie about something like this!

’So... what in the world happened???’

Her heart filled with even more confusion.

”Hold on!”

”You’ve got my head all jumbled!”

”What exactly happened?”

”Explain it to me again, in detail, from beginning to end!”

Ye Wanqing had calmed down by now. She looked at her daughter with a serious expression.

”Oh, okay...”

Han Ning nodded obediently and began to speak. ”Yesterday after school, I was passing by the academic building when I saw Gu Yifan on the roof, getting ready to jump. I rushed up to try and talk him down. But by the time I got there, he had already jumped. Luckily, the fire and rescue team had just set up a safety cushion below, and Gu Yifan landed right on it.”

”By the time I came down from the roof, Gu Yifan had already been taken away by an ambulance.”

”I wanted to go see him at the hospital right away, but I didn’t know which one he’d been taken to. I asked a teacher, but he said the school was worried about the fallout and wouldn’t disclose the hospital’s name. So with no other options, I just came home.”

”Then, later that night, I was looking at my phone and saw in the class group chat that someone said Gu Yifan was already fine!”

”I was afraid you’d yell at me, so I didn’t dare tell you about it...”

At this point, Han Ning secretly lifted her head and glanced timidly at her mother.

Ye Wanqing: ”...”

She looked at her daughter, speechless.

’Something so huge happened, and she still dared to hide it from her family. It looks like I’ll really have to teach her a good lesson in the future!’

’Otherwise, if this continues, who knows what other trouble she’ll get into!’

’But how did that boy Yifan’s personality suddenly become so extreme?’

’I’ve watched him grow up since he was little. Based on what I know of him, this isn’t his personality at all! Even if he was upset about being rejected by Xiaoning’er, it shouldn’t have driven him to jump off a building! Could there be some other hidden reason?’

For a moment, a thousand thoughts raced through Ye Wanqing’s mind.

.........

「Meanwhile, with Gu Yifan.」

He had already taken a taxi to Mountain City First Middle School.

From a distance, he could see Su Qinghe standing near the school’s guard post, staring blankly into space.

Today, she was wearing an orange color-block knit sweater, a pair of loose-fitting sweatpants, and on her feet, a pair of white Warrior canvas shoes that looked well-worn and had started to turn a faint yellow.

Although Su Qinghe’s outfit was very simple, the overall look was very pleasant and comfortable.

Especially as she just stood there quietly, her gentle and serene aura naturally drew one’s gaze.

Unsurprisingly, many of the passersby at the school gate couldn’t help but steal a few glances at her.

”SCREE— SCREECH—”

The taxi’s tail fishtailed violently before it slammed on its brakes, screeching to a halt right in front of Su Qinghe.
