Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Han Ning: Mom! Gu Yifan Blocked Me! Boo-hoo...

Just as Gu Yifan was waiting for a ride to go find Su Qinghe...

In Cuihu District,

Building 19, Unit 8, Apartment 906.

Han Ning’s emotions had calmed down a little by now.

She sat on her bed, sobbing quietly, her beautiful, large eyes red and swollen from crying.

”Xiaoning’er, my baby, what’s wrong?”

Ye Wanqing’s heart ached as she looked at her precious daughter, whose eyes were red and swollen.

”Mom~”

Hearing her mother’s words, Han Ning turned to look at her, her face a mask of misery.

”Oh, my sweet little princess, there, there. Don’t cry, don’t cry. You won’t be pretty anymore if you keep crying~”

Ye Wanqing gently wiped the tears from the corner of her daughter’s eyes, comforting her in a soft, gentle voice.

But she was utterly confused inside.

’Everything was fine, so how did Xiaoning’er end up crying like this!’

’Wait, she just went out. Did someone bully her?’

”Xiaoning’er!”

”Did someone bully you? Tell Mommy, and I’ll get even for you!”

she asked after a moment of thought.

”WAAAH~”

”SOB SOB SOB...”

Hearing the word ”bully,” Han Ning felt even more wronged, and she began to cry even louder.

”Gu Yifan!”

”It was Gu Yifan! He bullied me...”

”SOB SOB SOB...”

Hmm?

Hearing her daughter say that Gu Yifan had bullied her, Ye Wanqing’s brows furrowed slightly.

”You’re saying Yifan bullied you?”

”That can’t be right. Aren’t you two usually the closest?”

”Doesn’t he always take good care of you?”

Ye Wanqing asked, confused.

”Yes!”

”It was him!”

”He... That stinky Gu Yifan, he bullied me!”

”I sent him messages, and he didn’t reply! He even blocked me!”

”SOB SOB SOB...”

Han Ning explained between choked sobs.

”He blocked you?”

”But why?”

Hearing her daughter’s explanation, Ye Wanqing grew even more bewildered.

”Xiaoning’er, stop crying for a minute and tell Mom what happened.”

”Did you two have a fight?”

Ye Wanqing soothed her patiently.

After being comforted for a long while, Han Ning stopped crying. She bit her lip and said with a miserable look, ”Yesterday afternoon, Gu Yifan burst into the school’s broadcasting room and confessed to me in front of the whole school. I rejected him, and later, at the pledge assembly, he was punished and had to make a public self-criticism...”

Huh???

At this, Ye Wanqing’s eyes widened.

”Xiaoning’er, are you saying that Yifan confessed to you, you rejected him, and he was also punished with a school-wide self-criticism?”

She interrupted her daughter, looking at her with a serious expression as she sought confirmation.

”Yeah!”

Han Ning was a bit confused by her mother’s reaction. She looked up at her but nodded anyway.

’This...’

’That Yifan kid actually confessed to Xiaoning’er?’

’If my daughter hadn’t told me, I really would have never known!’

”So, Yifan confessed, you rejected him, and now he’s ignoring you?”

Ye Wanqing’s delicate brows knitted together. Gu Yifan and Han Ning had grown up together, and he had been trailing after Han Ning for many years. She had some understanding of Gu Yifan’s character. In fact, both she and her husband had long since realized he had a crush on their precious daughter. But just like Gu Yifan’s parents, they had remained silent on the matter.

At their age, during puberty, it was normal to develop feelings for the opposite sex!

If the two of them got together, it would make for a wonderful story. After all, they were childhood sweethearts who had grown up together and knew each other inside and out.

If things didn’t work out between them, the parents would just pretend they knew nothing and not get involved in the youngsters’ affairs.

In any case, it wouldn’t be allowed to affect the friendship between the two families.

However, she hadn’t expected Gu Yifan to confess to her daughter so soon.

She had originally thought he would wait until after high school graduation. Based on her understanding of his personality, he didn’t seem like the impulsive type.

After some thought, Ye Wanqing looked at her daughter, whose eyes were still red and swollen, and said, ”After Yifan confessed to you, what exactly did you say to him? Tell me the details.”

”Well...”

Even though she had been crying her heart out, Han Ning still found it a bit embarrassing to talk about this kind of thing with her mom.

She sniffled and then said, ”Well, yesterday morning, Gu Yifan suddenly rushed into the broadcasting booth, grabbed the microphone, and loudly announced that he liked me. Later, when he came back to the classroom, everyone was teasing and telling me to accept him. I was so startled, and my mind was a mess. I wasn’t thinking straight, so I loudly rejected him, and... and I also chewed him out.”

”Uh...”

Ye Wanqing was stunned. ’Rejecting him in front of the whole class and even chewing him out?’

’Hmm... That’s so Han Ning!’

’This was definitely something her precious daughter was capable of doing!’

As her mother, she knew her daughter’s personality very well.

She had been doted on since she was little, so her personality was a bit self-centered and proud. Sometimes, she acted without considering other people’s feelings, just like a spoiled little princess.

Although she and her husband knew their daughter’s personality had this minor flaw, they doted on her too much to say anything about it.

’Looks like I’ll have to teach her to change her ways in the future. Otherwise, she’s bound to suffer for it once she enters the real world!’

Ye Wanqing’s mind raced with thoughts.

Seeing her mom fall silent, Han Ning felt a little embarrassed.

Actually, she had regretted it right after she chewed out Gu Yifan!

But!

There was no way she was going to admit she was wrong and apologize to Gu Yifan!

’After all these years, every time I yelled at him, wasn’t he always the one to come and apologize to me the next day?’

’This time should be the same!’

That’s what Han Ning had thought at the time.

As for Gu Yifan’s sudden confession, she wasn’t lying. She really had been startled, her mind a complete mess, so she had rejected him instinctively.

”Okay... and then?”

”You just said Yifan blocked you. What’s that about?”

Ye Wanqing asked after a moment’s thought.

”Then... he had to do that school-wide self-criticism, right? At the assembly, he said a lot of things, including something about how he was completely letting go starting from today!”

”But after the pledge assembly was over, he actually ran to the roof of the tallest academic building and was going to jump!”

”It scared me to death at the time!”

As Han Ning spoke, she peeked up at her mother and saw her eyes go wide, her face instantly turning deathly pale.

”Wait!”

”Xiaoning’er, did you just say that Yifan tried to jump off a building for you?!”

Ye Wanqing shot to her feet, her expression a mask of utter disbelief.
