Chapter 953: Chapter 753: Freedom_2

The subordinates who were accompanying the card game had long grown used to it, put away the chips on the table, thanked Lord General for his reward, and upon noticing Kudagawa’s return, politely stood up and bid farewell.

The card game temporarily came to an end.

The General stood up, scratched his butt through his large shorts, finally turned around and looked at Tobio, and suddenly realized, ”I remember you, you’re Old Man Tobio, right! We played cards a few times before... When did you arrive? I almost forgot, why didn’t you remind me?”

”Waiting a bit longer is not a concern at all; how could I dare to disrupt your enjoyment, my lord?” Tobio responded respectfully, stepping forward with a bow.

”Sit down, sit down, no need to be polite. I’ve heard you’ve been troubled and stressed lately.” The General glanced at him, shook his head, and turned to Huai Shi with curiosity: ”Who is this?”

From afar, under the gaze of those golden eyes, Huai Shi almost felt like all his disguises were laid bare, suffocating him.

Facing one of the prominent figures in Current Circumstances, the Natural Enemy’s number one Fifth Stage, he respectfully stepped back and bowed with Yingzhou’s etiquette: ”From the Alliance, Huai Zhisu People.”

”The young man is quite polite.”

The General, holding a beer mug, laughed heartily, pointed at him and instructed Kudagawa beside him: ”I’ll have a conversation with his master; let someone take the young people to find something to eat, no need to be restrained. It’s rare to visit; at least there’s plenty of beer and barbecue.”

”Yes,” Kudagawa nodded, and a servant took Huai Shi to sit by the table on the beach, where beer and barbecue were soon served, flowing and abundant.

Huai Shi felt no embarrassment, just enjoyed the performances of those beautiful ladies, and indulged himself without reservation.

Yet, the slight hope in his heart gradually sank.

From a distance, he could see the two talking beside the card table.

”Speak, Tobio.”

After taking a big sip from his drink, the General calmly said, ”You’ve spent so much effort and time wanting to meet me, surely it’s not just to attend tonight’s banquet, right?”

Tobio lowered his head, sincerely pleading, ”I come representing the Tanbo Inner Circle, begging for your protection.”

Not wasting any time in this meeting, nor indulging in any riddles, Tobio presented everything transparently: the current difficulties the Alliance faced, all the offerings the Tanbo Inner Circle could present to Lord General, future plans, and contributions – everything laid bare without reserve.

And the General listened politely.

Nodding occasionally in agreement to the promising future described, expressing indignation at the discrimination and oppression the Hybrids faced.

Yet, his eyes lingered on the beach, watching the playful girls, admiring the exquisite scenery before him, drinking, eating meat, and smoking cigars.

Never once did he look at Tobio.

It was as if he was listening, but in reality, he didn’t discern a single word, nor did he consider any offerings or requests brought forth.

Yet Tobio dared not stop.

He seized this brief moment, using all means to attract the General’s attention, hoping to change his mind, hoping for him to consider everything he brought.

Even if only for a fleeting moment.

But Huai Shi felt that his efforts would be futile.

Perhaps Tobio’s hopes should have already been dashed.

Such a prolonged wait may not have been the General’s tactic, perhaps he simply...forgot about it.

Merely busy with other things.

Busy drinking, busy having fun, busy playing cards with subordinates, busy chasing prostitutes, busy with pleasurable activities...

He’s not interested in your offers, and your suffering is irrelevant to him.

Today you’ve worked hard to come here, hoping to meet him, so he will meet with you, host you like any guest, listen to your troubles and pleas, then provide comfort and encouragement.

But don’t misunderstand, this is just politeness...

The Eagle God soars above the sky, residing in the Temple on the clouds, even after suffering banishment and humiliation, he’s only dwelling on this remote island, exiled on the narrow land of Yingzhou.

The sufferings on Earth are too insignificant; he’s not interested.

”How do you feel, young guest?”

A strange yet tender voice came from beside him.

It was a child sitting down with a plate.

Black hair and black eyes with fair skin, looking Roman, yet carrying other ethnic characteristics, hard to identify.

The approximately ten-year-old child sat down beside Huai Shi with a large plate of barbecue and beer, asking amiably as if familiar with him, ”Was the General’s hospitality comprehensive?”

”Of course, I’m overwhelmed and grateful.”

Huai Shi, not having time to ponder the newcomer’s identity, since he was following Tobio as part of the Alliance, wouldn’t be arrogant enough to make enemies.

Even if nothing is negotiated in the end, it cannot lead to displeasure.

The black-haired child laughed heartily, eating the barbecue before him, mouth full of sauce, looking adorably fresh and tender. It was unclear whose child he was.
