Chapter 952: Chapter 753: Freedom

Time passed by second by second.

With the ticking of the clock in the corner of the room, the rhythmic sound of the second hand echoed repeatedly in the waiting room, each tick like a strand of spider silk raised.

Those invisible strands of spider silk floated in the air, falling upon the two of them, entwining layer upon layer... until eventually, it felt like an impervious cocoon.

From the silence there arose an indescribable suffocation.

Six hours later, and another six hours...

The soft, comfortable sofa also seemed to turn into an iron anvil, and each tick of passing seconds felt like the relentless pounding of an Axe and hammer, the hope gradually withering away in collision after collision.

Several times, Tobio clenched his fist in anger, wanting to stand up.

But it seemed like he didn’t have the strength to support himself, futilely releasing his grip, patiently waiting, patiently waiting, patience, waiting.

The sounds outside the door occasionally arose, yet this time, he no longer expected it.

From the hurried steps of the Servants, to the gentle laughter of the ladies, and finally, to no sound at all.

When night gradually appeared, a lone lamp in the room illuminated their faces.

It seemed like two insignificant specks of dust, so small that no one remembered them.

”Should we keep waiting?” Huai Shi asked for the fifth time, twirling the phone in his hand that was nearing dangerous battery levels.

”Wait.”

Tobio said numbly, ”Wait some more.”

”Until when?”

”Since we’re here, we should meet. Until then, we’ll wait.” Tobio’s lips moved as he swallowed the second half of his sentence, his gaze numb yet calm.

Wait, wait until death.

Until the minute hand turned once more, as Huai Shi was about to use the excuse of going to the restroom to get some fresh air, he heard low footsteps from behind the door.

Gradually approaching.

As if sensing Huai Shi behind the door, the visitor lifted a hand at a steady pace and knocked on the door.

Huai Shi paused, feeling a chilling sensation.

Through the thick wooden door, he could sense the faint cry of a Sharp Blade within its sheath, the coldness landing on his neck before quickly dissipating.

It was merely the subconscious vigilance of the other.

He voluntarily stepped back.

The door then opened from the outside.

A scruffy-looking middle-aged Samurai was revealed.

He was dressed in loose sportswear, hair pinned up with a hair stick, an elastic band around his forehead, as if he had just returned from a long run, but there was a well-aged Long Knife hanging from his waist.

His face was unshaven.

Only his eyes were large like an Old Monkey’s, exuding a faint glow.

Entering the room, he looked at Huai Shi, and as if surprised, raised an eyebrow.

”Are you Huaizhi?”

Huai Shi nodded, ”That’s right.”

”I am a Samurai under the General, just call me Kudagawa. I heard you defeated Xiangqu... oh, that little guy Xiangchuan, you’re quite something.”

He raised a hand, patted Huai Shi on the shoulder, and after a few words of praise, he turned his serious gaze to Tobio, bowing slightly: ”With recent busy affairs, Lord General finds it difficult to take a break, and the people below might have been remiss, please forgive us, Mister Tobio.”

Facing the General’s most capable subordinate, Tobio dared not put on airs, straightening his body and bowing in return: ”Not at all, it was just a longer wait.”

Though he said this, the old man stared directly into his eyes, waiting for his next words.

Until Kudagawa nodded, stepping aside: ”Please come with me, after the General handles his matters, you will have fifteen minutes of meeting time.”

Tobio nodded, showing neither delight nor excitement, but smiled calmly, ”Alright.”

Yet his hand behind his back gripped tightly in excitement.

Unable to control the wild beating of his heart.

Enduring a long period of waiting, he finally got the result he was waiting for.

”Let’s go, Huaizhi.”

He smiled at Huai Shi, walking towards the door. Huai Shi could feel his slightly unstable and hurried steps, as if gradually relieved.

As if he had shed a colossal burden.

Not fearing the long wait and neglect, Tobio only feared returning empty-handed today... but until Kudagawa’s arrival, no one knew what the result would be.

Just waiting was truly wonderful.

Even being neglected and forgotten did not matter, it wasn’t hopeless, on the contrary, it was merely a power game!

The General wanted more, more than he could offer.

But it didn’t matter, he could give more...

As long as there was room for negotiation!

Huai Shi followed behind, observing Tobio as he gradually bent under the weight of an invisible force, humbly moving forward.

.

Even from afar, one could perceive the undisguised Source Fluctuation, like a majestic torrent sweeping across, covering the entire grand manor, unruly and fierce.

Proceeding along the corridor, through the silent courtyard, they arrived at the seaside, where bonfires illuminated the distant beach, brightly lit.

Girls in three-piece swimsuits ran playfully on the beach with water guns, showcasing their proud figures and beautiful faces, while the Attendants on both sides came and went respectfully, none daring to look up.

From afar, they heard laughter coming from under the beach umbrella.

A blond middle-aged man sat in a chair, back facing them, tossing the cards in his hand onto the table with a swing, cursing in displeasure: ”What kind of luck is this, beating me out of my money again, I’ll hang all you bastards sooner or later!”
