The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1550: Chapter 1550: You’ve Been Pretending to Sleep All Along

Little Taotie suddenly opened her eyes, her acting instincts kicking in, as she feigned being startled: ”What are you all doing here!”

Cheng Guodong withdrew his hand from the drawer, and everyone stared at the little girl who had been ”awoken.”

Little Taotie put on a pitiful face of being disturbed from sleep, with a hint of surprise.

She truly was frightened; she saw Brother Cheng opening the drawer. If he opened it any later, her little secret would have been discovered.

The little girl’s round eyes locked onto theirs, and her brothers felt a bit flustered.

Qin Xin was the first to calm down, stepped forward, and tucked Little Taotie in, with a gentle smile: ”The weather’s getting cold, we came to see if you’re kicking off your covers.”

Tao Bin awkwardly lied: ”Yup, yup, we came to tuck you in. It’s so cold now, you’d catch a cold if you kicked them off.”

He clumsily reached out to adjust the blanket for his sister.

Little Taotie was wrapped up tightly, her large eyes filled with confusion.

Gu Yixing cleared his throat: ”You stayed put and didn’t kick off your covers. We should be going now.”

Cheng Guodong nodded: ”We’re leaving. Good night, little sis.”

”Good night, little sister!” Tao Bin said and quickly ran out; he didn’t dare to meet Little Taotie’s gaze, clearly guilty of something.

They all said their good nights in succession and ran out. Little Taotie sat up with annoyance and pulled the blanket off. Looking up, she noticed one hadn’t left the room. Shorter than the brothers, he was overlooked.

The brothers also didn’t remember to take this little guy with them.

Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan stared at each other for a moment, and Little Taotie quietly reached out to pull the covers back over, hiding her little face inside.

Hua Jinyan laughed upon seeing her turtle-like move: ”You weren’t asleep, you were pretending the whole time.”

It wasn’t a question; it was a statement.

Little Taotie, hiding under the blanket, didn’t dare come out.

She had seen through the look in Hua Jinyan’s eyes; this guy was sharp and had figured her out right away!

Little Taotie stayed hidden without a sound.

Hua Jinyan patiently found a chair and sat down, his gaze falling on the drawer.

As soon as he came in, he saw Little Taotie’s ears moving, evidence that she wasn’t asleep. But she pretended to be asleep without any reaction, so he didn’t expose her. It was only when Brother Cheng tried to open the drawer that she suddenly ”woke up.”

It seems she had been diligently learning to act recently; her skills had improved significantly, even pretending to be awoken so convincingly that not even Second Brother Qin, known to be a sly fox, noticed it was fake.

He spent far more time with Little Taotie than her brothers did; after all, they all had their own work to deal with, while he was by Little Taotie’s side constantly, whether going to school, visiting the Special Department, or in the villa. Only when Little Taotie worked in the entertainment circle on weekends did they separate. Otherwise, they were inseparable.

That’s why he understood Little Taotie better than her brothers did, instantly recognizing she was pretending to sleep and feigning waking up, and that what concerned her was the stuff in that drawer.

The overly sour smell from the drawer was hard to ignore.

With the cold weather, Little Taotie didn’t like to open the window for night air during sleep. Hence, in this enclosed space, the sour odor was even more noticeable.

”Aren’t you worried about cockroaches and ants sharing your room? I suggest you clean out your drawer.”
