The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1395: Chapter 1395: Good Intentions Became the Root of Evil Thoughts

Little Taotie was in deep thought, completely ignoring what he was saying, treating his lies as nothing more than idle talk.

She was pondering what benefits Chef Wu could gain from the restaurant closing down.

The light in Little Taotie’s eyes gradually shifted from confusion to clarity.

If Chef Wu wasn’t bribed by a competitor, then he did this for his own gain, with the aim to bring down ”Tangshi Xuan.”

Once ”Tangshi Xuan” shuts down, he can receive severance pay.

The longer he works, the more severance pay he can get.

Perhaps, it’s quite a substantial amount.

Little Taotie raised her eyes, fixing them intently on Chef Wu with an overly clear gaze.

The gaze was so piercing that it seemed to see through all secrets, making Chef Wu uncomfortable enough to close his mouth, unable to utter another word.

Indeed, when lies are told too many times, even the liar starts to believe them; he had almost deluded himself into thinking he was wronged.

But that overly clear gaze jolted him awake, making him acutely aware of his shame because of his lies.

”How much money can you get?” Little Taotie suddenly asked.

”What money?” Chef Wu’s eyes darted, avoiding her gaze.

”He’s worked here for 6 years. According to the boss, a year counts for three months; he can get 90,000!” A voice sounded in Little Taotie’s ear.

Little Taotie froze, turning her head to see the speaker... Ghost!

Little Taotie didn’t know when it had appeared or if it had always been silently present.

Little Taotie withdrew her gaze from Ghost and focused on Chef Wu again, saying, ”You’ve worked here for 6 years, you can receive 90,000 in severance pay. So it’s for this 90,000 that you hope Tangshi Xuan closes as soon as possible?”

Exposed for his sordid motives, Chef Wu stood where he was, his face green and red by turns, his eyes evasive and guilty.

He clearly wasn’t used to doing bad things, and upon being exposed, found it hard to maintain his previous calm, showing a guilty look as if confessing without pressure.

Little Taotie watched him like this, startled for a moment, ”Did I guess right?”

She was just taking a shot in the dark, not expecting to guess correctly.

Could it really just be for the severance pay?

Little Taotie felt a bit sympathetic toward the boss.

The boss could entirely refuse the severance pay. After all, the closure was due to poor management, not layoffs, and there was no real need to offer compensation, but the boss was considering old ties, knowing that once closed, their lives wouldn’t be easy, so he decided to offer severance pay as a gesture of compensation.

Yet, this act of kindness became the root of Chef Wu’s Evil Thoughts.

If the boss knew, wouldn’t he feel deeply disheartened?

”Have you ever considered the possibility that by putting maggots in the food causing customer dissatisfaction, the compensation required for settlement could lead to huge losses, making it impossible for the restaurant to stay afloat, and in the end, you lose your severance pay?” Little Taotie mimicked a gesture of having empty pockets.

”Impossible! He’s rich. Even if he pays compensation, he can afford to pay severance!”

”But is there a possibility he won’t be willing to pay it?”

Chef Wu was rendered speechless by the question.

Little Taotie continued, ”He might just shut it down, closing due to poor operation. You lose your job and that’s it. No one would force a closed-down boss to pay the staff.”

Chef Wu opened his mouth, wanting to say the boss was kind and good-hearted, certain to arrange things properly for them, and would borrow money if necessary to pay them the severance pay.

Yet the more he considered it, the stronger his feelings of guilt and embarrassment became, making him blush with extreme shame.
