The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 818: Chapter 818: I Don’t Recall Inviting Her

The director snapped back to reality after his moment of pride and asked in surprise, ”You want to make it for Little Taotie? That industry Little God of Wealth?”

”Pfft!” Yang Lusi laughed. ”What industry Little God of Wealth, that’s too superstitious, right?”

The director wagged his finger. ”Better to believe it than not. The editor from the Time-Space Monster Management Bureau is actually an old classmate of mine. When we graduated from university, he went straight into the industry, while I went to graduate school. In terms of timing, he started working earlier than I did, and previously, his program almost got scrapped.”

The screenwriter also got interested, ”Are you saying the Demon Management Bureau almost got...” She made a slashing motion at her neck with her hand.

The director nodded. ”It didn’t pass censorship. Although he was given a chance to reapply, it was pretty much hopeless. Who could have imagined, not only did he pass, but he also dragged many people down with him. The higher-ups couldn’t just let it fail.”

”Traveling through major scripts, if they didn’t pass, then why could those other shows be released? It’s quite a strategic move!” The screenwriter gave a thumbs up. ”He has quite the brains.”

”Just as you said, he dragged some people down, and it’s a way of applying pressure. The higher-ups had no reason not to pass it. But even if it passed, whether it becomes popular is fate. So many programs pass each year, but how many actually get famous?” The director smiled cheerfully. ”This program happened to have Little Taotie. Since her debut, every program she’s participated in has hit a peak of popularity.”

The screenwriter frowned, clearly disapproving. Being a Little Taotie fan, naturally, she thought about everything from Little Taotie’s perspective. Immediately she put on a stern face and said seriously, ”Little Taotie is only six years old. How can baseless things be attributed to her? It would put a lot of pressure on her. Someone who’s never failed, if they do one day, everyone will look for other reasons and blame her for not bringing the good fortune.”

Even the carefree Yang Lusi understood at this point and pulled a serious face. ”Exactly! It would put a lot of pressure on Zaizai! If, in the future, Zaizai stars in a bad production, if the co-stars are bad, if the director is bad, if the script is bad, or if the post-production is subpar with cheap special effects, causing the show to flop, everyone would blame nothing and no one besides Zaizai, questioning why she didn’t carry the flop to fame, ridiculing her for not being the industry’s Little God of Wealth. What then?”

The screenwriter spoke solemnly, ”The bigger the halo now, the louder the criticism if it falters.”

Seeing the two women heatedly defending as if their own daughters were being bullied, the corner of the director’s mouth twitched imperceptibly.

That little girl is Chairman Cheng’s sworn little sister! They’ve already completed the adoption procedures!

A lousy show? End up in her hands?

Believe it or not, even a universally acknowledged good script might not catch her eye!

Bad co-actors? Believe it or not, Chairman Cheng would immediately replace them?

Bad director? Haha, who would dare? Give up investment?

Bad script? Chairman Cheng would definitely get a gold medal screenwriter to revise it, make it perfect!

Cheap post-production? Are you kidding? Is Chairman Cheng just a figurehead? Even if Cheng doesn’t intervene, his sworn brother will!

It’s heard that Qin Xin has just returned from abroad and holds shares in several professional effects companies overseas.

These two women are just being worrywarts.

The director silently munched on his buttered bread, choosing to stay silent. Speaking at such a moment would only be asking for trouble, attempting to argue would just add fuel to the fire.

Seeing the director eating, the two women shot burning glares his way.

The director trembled: Staying silent and I still got burned! I’m just a cursed scapegoat!

The director coughed lightly. ”Back to business, isn’t your next film the one I’m directing? How come you’re working with Little Taotie? I don’t recall casting her.”
