The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 813: Chapter 813: The Newcomer Award Is in the Bag

”Winning an award doesn’t necessarily mean you have depth, because there’s a lot of internal manipulation. But to outsiders, you’re not just a pretty face; you’re considered skilled.”

”What does internal manipulation mean?”

”Some actors perform in many plays throughout the year, maybe they’re a role model in the industry, gaining lots of presence like a speculative move, hitting it big with a certain play. The play becomes a hit, and the character they played gets popular. They might get awarded Best Supporting Actor. You might say their acting is good, but why didn’t their other works become hits? You might say their acting isn’t good, yet they’re still popular.”

”...Oh, I see.” Little Taotie nodded, somewhat understanding.

Chen Zi patted her head, ”Go to the bathroom.”

”But I don’t want to go to the bathroom.”

”Just pretend to, Jin Yin is watching.”

Little Taotie glanced over and saw Jin Yin flash her a bright smile.

Little Taotie nodded and walked towards the restroom.

Once the little girl went into the restroom, Chen Zi let out a breath and looked up at the sky.

His conscience twinged a bit.

He seemed to be... leading a young cub astray.

Actually, he had already restrained himself a lot. For example, he didn’t mention the darker side of ”internal manipulation,” only talked about some speculative elements or the metaphor of a model worker deserving a sympathy award, without revealing a word about the unseemly underground deals.

Chen Zi’s phone rang.

Caller ID — Boss!

”How’s Jin Yin doing?”

Chen Zi laughed, ”He seems to really like Little Taotie, you can see it in his eyes.”

”Yes, he was actually picked out from the fan group.”

”A bodyguard picked from a fan group? Professional?”

”Coincidentally, he used to be a mercenary in the triangular region, got seriously wounded and returned home to recuperate. Now he has this job and doesn’t want to risk his life back in that place. He’s someone who’s seen blood and has real skills.”

”How did he become Little Taotie’s fan?” Chen Zi was puzzled.

”Attracted by video number 3.”

Chen Zi realized, ”If he became a fan because of video number 3, I believe it.”

”The battle formations in video number 3, and the final global cooperation, are actually what the people in war zones long for.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Zi looked down, ”It’s a bit chaotic outside.”

Cheng Guodong sighed, ”Yes, I originally wanted to use the momentum of video number 3 to help my sister develop overseas. But now the situation outside is uncertain, so I’ve abandoned this plan.”

”Won’t go abroad in the short term?”

”Before she’s ten, we probably won’t arrange for her to go abroad for engagements.”

Chen Zi regretted, ”Four years is quite a long time, by then the buzz from video number 3 will be long gone, everything would have to start from scratch.”

”There’s no other choice, safety comes first.”

”So for now, domestic development is the primary goal?”

”That’s right.”

”Boss, I have an idea.”

”Go ahead.”

”For the Newcomer Award at the end of the year, work it out so Little Taotie gets an award?”

Cheng Guodong was silent for a moment, frowning, ”Manipulate? That’s not necessary. My sister can win on her own merit.”

Chen Zi was helpless, ”Boss just entered this industry and doesn’t know how deep the waters run. Many times, even if you have the talent, what should be yours could be taken by someone else’s manipulations.”

Cheng Guodong said sternly, ”I understand. What’s my sister’s will remain my sister’s. No one can take it away! I’ll arrange everything!”

After hanging up the phone, Chen Zi breathed a sigh of relief.

With the boss’s words, Little Taotie’s Newcomer Award at the end of the year should be secure. She indeed stood out this year; it’d be a shame if what should be hers were taken away by someone else.
