Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

”Look, there are so many Space System and Gold Ability Users out there! So how come my sister’s Space is so top-notch, huh? And how come her Gold Ability appears and disappears without a trace, completely under her control??”

”Hah, it’s because of talent! Talent!” Song Kexin boasted, shaking her head smugly. ”You guys get it, right?”

”Take my dad, for example. His talent isn’t exactly high!” Song Kexin sighed, wagging a finger. ”Even if we both spend the same amount of time and effort practicing our superpowers, in the end, I’ll just be way better than him!”

Song Youzhi stared blankly at his infuriating daughter, his fists starting to itch.

Song Shijun, who was listening nearby, found it hilarious and burst out laughing.

He Shuping covered her mouth to stifle a laugh, and Song Youyi couldn’t help but shake his head.

Song Youzhi pulled a feather duster from his bag and started chasing his daughter, trying to swat her with it. ”You’ve got some nerve! How dare you make fun of your own father!”

”Hey, Dad!” Song Kexin bolted, hopping and weaving to dodge the pursuing feather duster. ”Why can’t you take a little joke? Ow! What did I even say? I was just stating a fact! Ouch.”

Song Shijun was laughing so hard he clutched his stomach. ”She’s asking for it! Totally asking for it!”

The chaotic scene and cheerful laughter didn’t affect Captain Xie in the slightest.

”How are you feeling now?” Xie Ning asked as she carried the utterly dejected Little Spider back to her own room next door.

After closing the door, she stared earnestly at her spider companion. ”No problems, right?”

”None... I guess,” Little Spider replied faintly.

’What am I supposed to say? If I say there’s a problem, she’ll just tell me to fix it ASAP. Right? Right?’

”I have faith in you.” Xie Ning raised a hand and patted its head. ”I know you can do it!”

She gave it an encouraging little fist pump.

”So, what’s your progress? Can you fill me in?”

’Knowing Little Spider, while it was lying there all motionless and forlorn, it must have been pulling some slick moves in the background...’

”Almost... I think...”

Xie Ning was surprised to detect a hint of weariness in its electronic voice.

’Why the weariness? It’s probably because the system’s backend is a real pain to crack. Maybe it’s even getting counter-hacked.’

”Ahem.” The young woman cleared her throat solemnly. ”Keep up the good work! Let me see the system store interface when you’re done.”

She was extremely curious now.

She was curious how the system store created by the current X Realm would differ from the faint blue light screen she’d seen before.

Little Spider worked furiously, racing against the clock.

Xie Ning sat beside it without disturbing it. She simply sent half of her spiritual power into her farmstead Space to harvest and sort the crops.

About thirty minutes later, Little Spider spoke weakly, ”Host, do you want to take a look?”

”Yes!” Xie Ning’s spirits lifted, and she immediately sat up straight. ”Let’s see it now.”

”Open the system store.”

Little Spider shuffled its limbs.

A minute later, a massive, virtual, light-blue screen materialized in the air before Xie Ning.

It was still over half the size of a movie screen but much clearer than it had been over a year ago. It was a massive screen, perfectly crisp from every angle.

Xie Ning couldn’t resist reaching out to touch it. The surface felt as smooth as silk rippling on water. Though she could barely feel it against her fingertip, its responsiveness was incredibly high.

Before, when Xie Ning accessed it, the system store interface would appear immediately. Tapping an item would open its purchase tab. It was a bit like online shopping, only the interface was extremely minimalistic.

Now, however, there was a slight change.

The store interface in front of her was still quite minimalistic, but a new button had appeared in the top-left corner: Switch Seller.

”Shall we switch, Host Ningning?”

”Hold on. Let me see what new tricks this store is pulling first.”

Xie Ning casually tapped on a product description.

It was a potion with a temporary offensive buff. The user would gain immense power for half an hour.

The effect lasted for half an hour, granting power equivalent to a Third-stage Power-type Superpower User.

Xie Ning blinked. ”Impressive. So this is the future... Look at this system store interface. It’s been completely revamped.”

’They never sold such high-level potions before.’

’At most, you’d see some high-level defensive gear, and even that was always in high demand.’

Little Spider hummed twice in agreement.
