Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

Li Weide’s heart gave a heavy thump, and a sudden chill washed over him.

With a soft SPLASH, water soaked his head and face, chilling him to the bone.

”Wh-what is this? What?” Li Weide frantically wiped his face.

For a moment, his face burned as if splashed with a corrosive solution, and panic surged through him.

Seeing this, Wang Gangfei and the muscle man rushed forward to check on Li Weide, cursing under their breath. ”Don’t panic, Mr. Li Weide, it’s nothing. It just seems to be water.”

Li Weide’s frantic movements froze. He stood stiffly, reaching up to touch his face.

It did seem to be just water. It trickled down his face, dripped from his chin, and soaked his suit and trousers.

’That Captain Xie... she actually threw water on me!’

Li Weide was furious. He sniffed his sleeve; it really didn’t smell like any corrosive liquid.

He roared in fury, ”Captain Xie, what do you think you’re doing? Don’t you think this is going too far?”

”Too far?” Xie Ning spread her hands, turning to the stunned Doctor Fang. ”Is it?”

Doctor Fang silently averted his gaze, resuming what he was doing a minute ago. He continued flipping through the medical scans in his hand, mumbling, ”What’s going on with bed sixteen? What were you saying just now?”

The nurses glanced over, then methodically continued with their work.

The entire medical ward was busy but orderly. Everyone collectively treated Li Weide and his group as thin air, simply walking around them to continue their tasks.

Li Weide grimaced, shaking the water from his suit. He suddenly realized, ”You’re also Water Element?”

’Holy crap, how does her superpower even develop?’

’It takes so much effort for others to awaken just one superpower, but she...’

Xie Ning didn’t answer Li Weide. Instead, she suddenly smiled at the red-haired kid and rolled her wrists.

”Are you ready?”

”Huh?”

Xie Ning lunged forward in a single bound, her fists falling like rain as she mercilessly beat the Healing Ability User in front of her.

Li Weide jumped in fright, then shouted, ”What are you doing? Captain Xie! Stop, hurry up and stop!”

Wang Gangfei and the muscle man grew anxious and rushed forward to stop her.

Xie Ning viciously kicked Wang Gangfei in the leg, then grabbed the red-haired kid and started dragging him out of the medical ward.

Li Weide’s face turned green with rage. ”What are you all standing around for like idiots? Go out and stop her!”

’Are these people morons?’

’Just standing here staring at each other... you think that’s going to save Abbot?’

’A bunch of useless trash!’

By now, Xie Ning had already dragged the young Healing Ability User outside.

”You Healing System types are just asking for a beating.” Xie Ning dragged the red-haired man out the door by his hair.

Passing base personnel saw this, their mouths agape as they took two steps back.

The red-haired man from Country A was a full head taller than Miss Xie, yet she dragged him along as if he were just a little chick.

”So you played some tricks? How interesting. Not exactly ’healing the sick and saving lives,’ are you! Leaving the job half-done? What’s the deal? Saving the rest for later, like leftovers?” With every few words, Xie Ning slapped the young man, eventually beating the tall man until he crumpled...

The red-haired man’s head was yanked up, but his neck was scrunched down. If there were a hole in the ground, even one the size of a crack between fingers, Abbot probably would have tried to crawl into it.

He was completely powerless to fight back.

He was just a pitiful Healing System user; in front of a Sixth Rank Gold Element master like her, he couldn’t even lift a finger.

”Do you know how I deal with my enemies?” Xie Ning smiled sweetly at the man cowering with his head in his hands. ”Do you understand our language? Can you spell the word ’die’?”

”Let me teach you! D-I-E, die! Got it now?”

”I-I understand! I-I understand!”

”Xie Ning, don’t go too far.” Wang Gangfei and the muscle man rushed out with their people, their eyes wide with fury.

’What kind of person is she?’

’Attacking a Healing System user?’

’This is just not how a normal person thinks.’

Even a three-year-old knew that Healing System users were the base’s greatest treasures. Problems that modern medicine couldn’t solve could often be fixed with a mere flick of their fingers.

Anyone with a brain knew not to make an enemy of a Healing Ability User.

When it really mattered, a Healing System user could save your worthless life!

Xie Ning turned and glared at Wang Gangfei. A gleaming Metal Spike suddenly materialized in her hand.

The sharp point of the spike pressed against the healer’s neck. She looked at Li Weide, who had just rushed out, and smiled. ”Threatening me? Is that it? In your eyes, is Xie Ning really that easy to threaten?”

”Have you ever wondered what I’m like when I go crazy?”

”Don’t, don’t! Please don’t.” Li Weide’s heart felt like it was about to burst from his chest.

His eyes were glued to the spike piercing the healer’s skin. He gasped for air, hastily raising his hands in a gesture of surrender. ”Captain Xie, calm down, calm down!”

Xie Ning took a deep breath, glanced down at the small cut the Metal Spike had made on the healer’s neck, and smiled just as brilliantly as before. ”Does it hurt? Tell me, does it hurt?”

”It hurts, it hurts! It hurts.” The Healing Ability User was on the verge of being driven mad by her. He didn’t dare nod, his neck frozen, so he could only answer verbally.

Xie Ning suddenly let out a crisp laugh. ”Are you stupid? Aren’t you a Healing System user? If it hurts, why don’t you heal yourself? Go on! Heal.”

The Healing Ability User was baffled. He had been so intimidated by the neurotic girl that he hadn’t dared to move a muscle.

”Are you going to heal it or not?” Xie Ning demanded impatiently. ”Heal it or die.”

”Healing! Healing! I’m healing!!”

The Healing Ability User quickly used his superpower to close the wound on his neck.

Xie Ning poked the spot with the tip of her Metal Spike, her smile exceptionally gentle. ”So good. The wound is really gone! You can’t even tell.”

”What do you think would happen if I pierced your carotid artery?” Xie Ning grabbed a handful of his red hair, yanking his head up, and stared at him with that same smile.

”Ma’am, Ma’am! Ma’am!! Ma’am! I’ll do it! I’ll do the healing right now! I promise I’ll heal the little girl completely!” The Healing Ability User was about to cry, his high-pitched shouts echoing down the entire corridor.

Xie Ning loosened her grip, gave him a light, expressionless push, and said, ”Should have just said so from the start. All this nonsense was a waste of time.”

”You Healing System types... people put you on a pedestal all the time, so you have no idea what your place is.” Xie Ning slowly retracted the long Metal Spike into her hand, her smile tactful and mild.

”You’re just asking for a beating.”

Xie Ning turned and walked toward the entrance of the medical ward.

Li Weide, Wang Gangfei, and the others blocking the doorway instinctively shrank to the side.

Xie Ning paused, turning her head to look at the Healing Ability User with a smile. ”Still want to provoke me?”

”No, no! I won’t, I won’t!” The red-haired Abbot was on the verge of crying his eyes out.

When Xie Ning had viciously stabbed him with the Metal Spike, he truly thought he was going to die. The fear had even made him almost forget that he had the superpower to repair his own body.
