Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 1215: Two Seconds

Zuri had laid waste to both Asher and Saitama with just a single attack each. Although it might seem like Asher could now match any and all Voidstar Life Rankers simply because he had defeated the Monster and the Emovira a couple of hours ago, that wasn’t the case.

Unlike Humans, Monsters and Emovirae did not have subclassifications within their respective classes. Not all Rank 8 Emovirae were equally powerful, just as not all Voidstar Life Rankers possessed the same level of strength. And even if the Monster and Emovira that Asher had defeated were somewhat on Zuri’s physical level by some sort of miracle, at the end of the day, they still weren’t as powerful as her, as those two relied heavily on their abilities.

Asher lay on the ground in a daze, a third of his face missing, his skull split open as brain matter splattered across the blizzard-covered landscape. The ice and cold did not wait for any command or notification before pouring their frigid embrace into his body. His four limbs were also missing, each lying in a different direction, and his body couldn’t even bleed as his wounds had already frozen over.

His organs spilled out from his torso, as Zuri had bisected him at the waist, and they had already turned into solid blocks of ice the moment they left his body. After all, no matter how much one tempered the body, the internal organs remained just as soft as they had always been.

This was not an illusion of any kind... this was Asher’s current situation.

He was simply a step away from death, and this was the closest he had ever come to it.

Virelass had already begun her work the moment she sensed the injuries. She didn’t use any other blood aside from the unknown-ranked blood that had evolved from an End-Class Monster’s blood. With her Crimson Pact ability, she didn’t have to heal the injuries one after another, as she could heal them all simultaneously.

And at this moment, she worked at the fastest speed she had ever achieved since the dawn of her existence, as if more than one or two seconds passed, Asher’s heart would stop beating and his consciousness would fade away. The entirety of her master’s life now depended on her, and she couldn’t afford to make even the slightest mistake.

The remaining two-thirds of Asher’s brain, skull, and face immediately began to regenerate at an insane speed as his cells multiplied at a staggering rate. His brain was completed first, followed by his skull, which encased it, and then his muscles, nerves, and blood vessels appeared as his face became whole again.

The same occurred from his waist downward, as his entire lower body regenerated with utmost speed and efficiency, organs snapping into place, bones clicking back into their original positions, and his shattered spine reconnecting with a sharp snapping sound. His limbs stretched out as new ones grew in place of the old.

Within barely a fraction more than one second, Virelass was done. She had healed all his injuries, stabilized his organs, and restored everything to its proper state. But it didn’t take away the excruciating pain he felt, nor did it erase the fact that he had come face-to-face with death and had been barely over two seconds away from crossing over to the other side.

One could only thank his insane vitality for buying him those two seconds. If his vitality hadn’t been that high, the moment a third of his entire skull was split open, he should have died.

Zuri, who was now standing with effortless indifference, stared in Saitama’s direction for a moment before losing interest. Although she hadn’t dealt the same critical blow to the boy as she had to the Tenth Sun, she didn’t particularly care. The Tenth Sun was her priority, and nothing more.

A smile appeared on her face as she turned in Asher’s direction and followed the trail of blood on the ground. To her, the Tenth Sun was already dead, and all she had to do now was harvest his head and leave the battlefield immediately.

Although it was practically taboo to flee a battlefield without the order of a Regent, she didn’t care. The head of a Wargrave stood above such restrictions, and she would be forgiven and rewarded instead.

But as she walked, she suddenly stopped in place, her eyes widening in shock at the scene before her.

An incomprehensible amount of Star Energy erupted from Asher’s body and surged into the sky, while the blizzard-covered landscape around him burst apart and the coldness in the air vanished. His hair immediately rose toward the sky, defying gravity as it turned pure white, while a star appeared on his forehead. His entire body was cloaked in a faint white sheen, and his eyes blazed with pure white light as he stood like some sort of god who looked down upon everything.

Star Form had been activated.

Asher stepped forward, pure strength and power coursing through his body. During his training, he had failed to create a new version of Star Form. Although it was a bummer, it was understandable, as the skill wasn’t so easy to create and upgrade every single time. But that didn’t mean his training had been without merit, as Star Form now granted Asher even more power following his improved control over his Star Energy.

His destructive capabilities had taken another leap in strength and force, elevating the sheer magnitude of his attacks to another level.

His white eyes landed on Zuri, who stood with a calm expression as the surprise in her eyes gradually vanished. She had been surprised earlier that the Tenth Sun had survived, but that surprise was already gone.

She could only remind herself that it wasn’t that easy to kill a Wargrave.

As for Asher’s Star Form? She didn’t care in the slightest. She didn’t feel any danger from it, so she knew she could handle it. After all, just because someone called a skill or ability their trump card didn’t mean it would break the Laws, Order, or Reality simply because it was their trump card.

Asher didn’t speak. He simply vanished from where he stood, his speed surpassing the hypersonic realm as he closed the distance between them in an instant. His rapier flashed sideways as he moved to decapitate her with ridiculous speed and finesse.

Although Zuri had failed to follow Asher’s movements, it didn’t mean her reflexes, instincts, and sixth sense were for show. Her body reacted on its own before her mind, thoughts, and perception could keep up. Astra Energy immediately enveloped her entire body as her claymore swung upward from below.

And with world-ending, apocalyptic madness, the entire blizzard-covered landscape within a radius of two thousand kilometers was instantly erased as Star Energy slammed into Astra Energy. The resulting chain reaction gave rise to an apocalyptic scene that begged the question: were these two still Humans?

The scale of destruction didn’t stop there; it continued to expand, reaching three thousand kilometers, four thousand kilometers, and then five thousand kilometers. It showed no signs of stopping, as the collision between their energies continued to unleash waves of destruction that tore through the surrounding landscape.

Saitama, who was caught within the expanding scale of destruction, had already reacted. He simply shot into the sky as he dodged the attack. He popped his shoulder back into place, and as for his other broken bones, he didn’t particularly care.
