Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 1207: Halemir [Magic Castle Bonus Chapter]

Hundreds of millions of kilometers away from the Zarethorne Empire and the Algorith Frontier, within a particular Empire, various people could be seen going about their day. Merchants moved within their carriages like they held the same status as a Noble, roadside sellers sold their goods while buyers haggled over the prices.

But no matter the haggling, the prices barely came down, forcing customers and all buyers to wear various serious expressions on their faces.

Within this Empire, they all either had afros, dreads, or some locs, some of them having tattoos on their bodies as they walked, all of them possessing black and dark skin of varying shades.

This was the Velkarin Empire.

After the death of their Empress, their former ruler, and the rise of the current Emperor, the Empress’ husband, the following war had caused the price of goods to skyrocket, and merchants were fucking loving it.

Many sold things for outrageous prices, forcing many families to use the money that they had saved for moments like these. Those who had kept the money given out by the Elox Family Head were in better condition.

Although the economy had become hard, none of them complained or rioted for the war to be stopped, as the Emperor himself had leaked to the masses that Emperor Zolthemir Lux Vanthelmor of the Zarethorne Empire had assassinated the Empress.

Although it wasn’t an official statement, the masses believed it, as people didn’t need to verify news to believe things and be manipulated by those in power.

At the Capital City of the Velkarin Empire, a huge castle could be seen standing tall. This was the Emperor’s castle, where each ruler had lived since the dawn of the Velkarin Empire.

Within a spacious and decorated room, a man could be seen sitting down and going through a stack of documents. He possessed a perfect side fade and a low cut, his hairline crispy as rings fitted four of his ten fingers.

He was the Emperor of the Velkarin Empire; Emperor Horace Sol Virelle.

At this moment, he was going through the documents that showed the state of the Velkarin Empire. Although they were at war and war cost money, he was thinking of ways to allow his people to sleep with full bellies. He didn’t want them to starve and go hungry because of the war.

Although he could open the imperial vault, he hesitated in the case of when the war finally escalated and was pushed to its boiling point.

As he was reading through the documents, he froze as he sensed something. The next moment, right before him, a portal that seemed made of pure shadow tore open. As the portal opened, the man frowned instantly, as he immediately knew what was coming.

From the portal of shadow, a being stepped out. The being had silver strings floating from its body that danced in various directions like it was reacting to various things in various directions. It stood upright like a human, but it was far from one.

It was a Sinvaira, specifically Halemir, the Sinvaira of Control, who was born when a ruler at the beginning of the Star Fall Period stripped his people of all choice.

As the Sinvaira appeared, Emperor Horace Sol Virelle wore a flat expression, but Halemir, who was the Sinvaira, could see through the facial expression and read his emotions.

”It seems you don’t like being manipulated, Human Horace.”

Halemir stated as a smirk appeared on his lips. He stared at Horace as he enjoyed the moment.

Emperor Horace rose from his seat as he walked towards the Sinvaira in calm steps as he replied.

”Hardly. I’ve gotten what I’ve always wanted. I just want everything to settle down so I can rule my people properly, that is all.”

His tone was smooth and calm. Standing at the other side of the table and opposite the Sinvaira, he leaned against the table and smiled.

Halemir stayed silent for a moment, the smirk on his lips turning into a smile as he replied in an intriguing tone.

”Is that so...”

Emperor Horace didn’t answer, as the question was rhetorical. Instead, he wanted to know why this guy was here.

”What brings you here, Halemir?” He asked with his hands crossed against his chest.

Halemir no longer beat around the bush as he simply decided to go straight to the point, as he couldn’t stay long or risk being found out.

”The Underground bunker right beneath the Algorith Frontier has been discovered. The Soldiers are being wiped out as we speak, and the Grand Regent stationed there has been killed.”

His words were concise, short, and plain as he stated only the facts.

At Halemir’s words, Emperor Horace immediately frowned.

”How did Damian Wargrave even find the underground bunker? Was one of our spies caught?”

He asked as he didn’t like the idea of his Soldiers being wiped out, and losing a Crownstar Life Ranker, one who had undergone an evolution, was a painful blow.

Halemir wore a mocking smile as he spoke.

”It is your job to find out, not mine.”

After a moment, he continued.

”Besides, if I tried to find out, Damian would sense me. And with the new development, I suggest you start the War in its truest form and make sure one or two Wargraves die. Even if they don’t, force them to make a true move during the war.”

Halemir instructed calmly, his eyes fixed on Horace’s.

Emperor Horace stayed silent for a moment, then nodded his head.

”Good boy.”

Halemir stated, then turned and stepped through the Shadow portal.

As the Sinvaira of Control left, Horace’s face twisted even more like a madman. He didn’t like this development; he fucking hated it, but he had to do it.

He closed his eyes for a moment, his frown easing as he murmured to himself.

”The end justifies the means. Besides, if it wasn’t me, another would do it.”

He opened his eyes, then returned to his seat and sat. After a moment of thought, he took out the same pen, paper, and lighter that the Grand Regent had and began to compose a message.

Emperor Horace Sol Virelle, the loving husband, had joined hands with the Sinvaira of Control, Halemir, to kill his own wife and child.

A couple of months ago, they had approached him with the idea of him being the Emperor for a price. It was a deal with the devil, but he had agreed because he had always wanted to be an Emperor. It was the reason why he married his wife, Empress Nymeria Sol Virelle, before she could even inherit the title from her Father.

He had never wanted to be just the husband to the Empress. He wanted to sit on the throne. The death of his wife and son was an adequate price, after all, he could always marry another woman and have as many children as he wanted.

But the Sinvaira never told him that they would pin the cause of his wife and son’s deaths on the Zarethorne Empire, specifically the Emperor himself.

They had told him the price for his ascension to the throne was war between the two Empires. He could only grit his teeth and accept.

Although he had schemed and killed his wife and newly born son, he loved his people and genuinely wanted the Empire to take a step forward.

After working with the Sinvairas for a couple of months, he had come to understand one of their goals.

To get stronger.

Somehow, the Sinvairas could get stronger through Wars, Death, Fears, and the madness and bloodshed that came from it.

Emperor Horace had guessed they needed to get stronger in order to pull off something that was related to the Wargrave, which was why they needed two Wargraves to die or make them become invested in the War.

What it was, he didn’t know, and he couldn’t find out.

But he knew these Sinvairas wanted to get stronger so they would have the power to confront Azaron, Morthern, Malrik, and whoever else within that monstrous family.

He had guessed they wanted the Tenth Sun, but all these were too much for the Tenth Sun alone, as they could just storm the Algorith Frontier and kill him.

As he wrote his letter, Emperor Horace paused for a moment, then leaned back in his chair.

He who had killed his wife and newborn son for the throne was now sending his Soldiers to their deaths as the price.

But if he had declined the Sinvairas’ proposal, he knew they would kill him, his wife, and children, and have someone else ascend the throne. Meaning it didn’t matter whether he accepted or refused; his wife and child would still die regardless.

But by accepting, he had managed to keep his life and become an Emperor.

And he was the only Human who knew of this. Even if the Sinvaira tried to expose him, who would believe a Sinvaira?

After all, to the rest of the Empire, Halemir was nothing more than a creature of deceit, a Sinvaira, while Horace remained their beloved Emperor, the man supposedly fighting to avenge his murdered family.
