Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 1209: Not Enough

One might think that with various Soldiers killing multiple enemies at the same time, the battle would tilt in their direction, but no. Just as they were killing multiple people, the Soldiers from the other Empire were doing the same.

In another direction, Asher could be seen exchanging attacks with his Shadow, his body twisted through the air as he landed. But the moment he landed, his eyes fell on a headless corpse beside him. He froze for a moment as he saw the headless corpse, his eyes lifting as he gazed around the battlefield, his eyes dancing from one struggling Soldier to the next.

His eyes turned skywards to see a golden sky as Acker’s voiced prayer echoed in his ears. Instantly, every Soldier from the Algorith Frontier was healed. Although their stamina wasn’t restored, it was still something.

The Shadow closed in from ahead, its fist shooting towards his face, but Asher simply tilted his head in another direction as he dodged with remarkable ease while lost in thought.

He had been so lost in the thought of enjoying a physical spar with his Shadow that he had neglected the other Soldiers who were fighting for their lives. Yes, they could all handle themselves, and he had exposed the Velkarin Empire’s scheme and wiped out two million Soldiers, but that didn’t mean he got to play around on a battlefield like this.

The Shadow immediately recalibrated to attack again, but before it could finish its move, Asher’s palm met its chest in an inverted-degree palm strike. A booming sound echoed like the explosion of a war drum. The Shadow stood no chance as it was immediately exploded into flickering dark motes, returning to Asher’s feet and taking the shape of his natural shadow.

The woman with the Shadow ability immediately spat out a mouthful of blood as backlash from her Shadow being forcefully destroyed. She had been lying on the ground, playing dead, as she didn’t want another Algorith Frontier Soldier to kill her while the Shadow handled the Tenth Sun.

In a blur, Asher was gone, his body flickering into position beside the woman, but before she could say anything, she felt a thin silver line appear around her neck. Her eyes widened, as she hadn’t even seen him draw his rapier, leaving her no chance to dodge. Her head could only slide down from her neck as she died.

Asher’s eyes shifted towards the Soldiers around him, his purple eyes taking in everything that was happening. Although he would love to use a large-scale attack at the moment and wipe out a lot of these Velkarin Empire Soldiers, he couldn’t, as Soldiers of the Algorith Frontier were running up and down constantly.

One attack might mistakenly hit them, instantly killing them. Although with his current control over his elements, he could precisely control every attack to miss every Algorith Soldier, the margin for error still existed.

With a step, he vanished, his body flickering into position behind a woman from the Velkarin Empire as she moved to kill a man from the Frontier, but before she could, Asher’s rapier tore through her waist, splitting her in perfect half. He vanished once more, appearing behind another, Virelass coming down in a downward slash as he split the man from the head down.

His speed was a blur. None of the Soldiers could see him coming; he was there one moment, and the next, he wasn’t. Soldiers from the Frontier didn’t even see him attack, nor did they even know who attacked, as Asher’s speed was simply too fast, to the point that their perception couldn’t capture the moment he stopped attacking and left.

At another direction, a Frontier Soldier was about to be stabbed from behind, but Asher was already there, his rapier flashing as he cut off the attacker’s arm from the elbow. Before the Soldier could even scream, his throat was already split, with Asher gone like the wind.

His body shifted between Soldiers, his kill count rising each moment as he moved unchecked, displaying the reason why high-ranking Soldiers weren’t allowed to fight in the midst of lower-ranking Soldiers; they simply stood no chance whatsoever.

Asher appeared behind an old man from the Velkarin Empire, his rapier moving for the throat as usual. But the man reacted, twisting as he raised his spear and blocked Asher’s attack with ease, the force not throwing him backwards as he stood his ground.

Asher arched an eyebrow, surprised that someone who wasn’t at the Voidstar Life Rank had actually reacted. The old man’s ability simply granted him greater reaction time and senses that kept up with such reaction time.

The only reason he hadn’t been pushed back after blocking Asher’s attack was simply because Asher hadn’t put his full strength into that slash. Why would he put his full strength into a random attack that had taken over a hundred lives within a matter of seconds?

But he had no time; he couldn’t waste the same amount of time he spent on that Shadow woman on this man. He took a step, and he was gone, his body flickering behind the man as his rapier came down once more to bisect the old man.

The old man reacted, his Astra Energy boosting his speed as he moved to block, but the moment the rapier touched the spear, his spear phased through the rapier as the rapier and the person holding it faded away like mist.

’An afterimage.’

The old man thought to himself in pure shock, as he had simply been reacting to Asher’s previous attack, not the current one happening at that moment.

Asher’s sword flashed once more, decapitating the old man’s head. Just because his ability allowed him to create reaction time didn’t mean he could jump Life Ranks so easily.

Asher turned around, his hand blurring as he deflected a series of arrows without even glancing in the direction of the attack. His hand blurred upwards once more as he sent out a slash in the direction the arrows came from. A silver sword line erupted, tearing through everything and everyone in the direction of the arrows.

Asher didn’t even look at them once.

’Not enough.’

He thought to himself calmly.

How could someone as powerful as him be so inefficient?

An idea flickered into his mind. The next moment, Astra Energy hummed around his body as Perfect Astra Control came alive. While he might not possess perfect Elemental Control to account for each Frontier Soldier’s life, he did possess Perfect Astra Control.

With a thought, every mote of Astra Energy within a three-kilometer radius halted at his command. With another thought, the Ambient Astra Energy moved, wrapping around the Soldiers from the Velkarin Empire as he disguised it as normal ambient Astra Energy movement.

Another thought came from him, and with that, a booming force erupted across every direction within a three-kilometer radius as the Soldiers from the Velkarin Empire didn’t even know what had happened before they died. Limbs scattered in every direction, blood splattering into the air from the explosion, armour torn into metallic shreds from the inside out.

None of the Soldiers from the Velkarin Empire survived, as none of them could defend against what they hadn’t seen or sensed. If the explosion had been something they could tank with their bodies, they would have survived, but Asher had used the right amount of explosive force for each individual, varying the power depending on how strong they physically appeared to him.
