Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1794: Chapter 1789: Vulgar Fear (Part 2)

One of the reasons the mission started so smoothly was that the step of selecting Skill Items was directly omitted.

Fu Qian naturally couldn’t overlook this point, but he just found it strange.

Recently, even tasks numbered 1 didn’t often strip away abilities, yet what seemed like a casual game directly left him a blank slate?

Moreover, through the side mirror, it was clear to see that he not only reverted to being a Mortal but wasn’t even in strong physical shape.

Medium height, slightly long hair, both face and body could be considered thin, such that the red sweater he wore seemed a bit loose.

Additionally, he wore a watch with a brown leather strap on his left wrist, which looked slightly worn.

It felt like he was just a black-framed spectacles away from a typical nerdy geek image.

And there was no doubt that this was a stranger’s face, an entirely new identity.

Mr. Wolf...

Accepting a friend’s request to come to a party held on All Fools’ Day...

Without finding a coat in the car, Fu Qian picked up a gray and white striped deer hunting hat from the side, not caring it clashed with his attire, and casually put it on his head before getting out of the car.

Something unusual suggests something strange, and these rare anomalies made the party seem interesting.

The only regret was that he couldn’t use the opportunity of Skill Level 3 items to test odd things.

...

It must be said, the legendary All Fools’ Day did have quite an atmosphere here.

There wasn’t anything overly exaggerated in the decorations, but Fu Qian had already checked the time earlier.

It was nearing eleven at night, and even though the weather wasn’t great, many buildings were still lit up, and children could be heard running and shouting.

What he was looking for, however, was a group of young people more excited than them—this was the place.

His gaze passed the two slightly pale trees, and Fu Qian looked at the building behind them, verifying the address.

There was no mistaking it; from this position, he could see young people braving the cold to get fresh air on the second-floor terrace.

Almost every room inside appeared brightly lit.

”Hello, I’m Wolf, looking for Butters.”

Before even reaching the door, Fu Qian had already been spotted by the people inside.

Despite reaching for the doorbell, no one attempted a greeting.

The next moment, facing a young woman with a ponytail scrutinizing him from within the door, Fu Qian gave a slight nod and directly stated his purpose without any small talk.

”Are you... Mr. Wolf?”

Her words instantly made her face more curious, looking Fu Qian up and down; she not only knew his name but even his title.

”Butters mentioned you more than once; I must say you match the expectations.”

As her gaze fell on the hat atop Fu Qian’s head, her words suggested that this odd attire didn’t feel so strange on him.

”I’m Eva. If you’re looking for Butters, you can go to the room at the far end.”

Even though Fu Qian didn’t seem much interested in a conversation, she introduced herself and offered help without waiting for a response.

”Thank you.”

This time-efficient behavior earned Fu Qian’s appreciation as he casually thanked and walked past her.

”Aren’t you having a drink?”

However, the next moment another figure blocked his path with a warm suggestion.

...

Though their conversation hadn’t been loud, as a newcomer to the party, Fu Qian felt many eyes on him the moment the door opened, some sizing him up playfully.

Just like before, the group merely watched his exchange with Eva without approaching.

Until this person broke the atmosphere.

Bronze skin, thick brown hair, exaggerated eye shadow, and nearly the most flamboyant attire, she was a young woman styled entirely opposite to Eva, and her speech was tinged heavily with alcohol.

Following her indicator, Fu Qian saw that she referred to a table half full of drinks nearby.

The party was more or less as he imagined.

Almost everyone was young and of similar age, brimming with self-awareness but without dressing in bizarre ways just to fit the festive mood.

However, this didn’t mean the festive theme wasn’t reflected.

The array of drinks on the table looked quite unusual at first glance.

For example, some mimicked thick blood, and beyond the scent of alcohol, there was a faint, unique tang to it.

Of course, it wasn’t real blood.

Perhaps currently being a Mortal meant his nose couldn’t verify with certainty, but for Fu Qian, it wouldn’t be difficult to prepare drinks in this manner given time and materials.

This wasn’t the weirdest thing either. Casually scanning, Fu Qian also noticed oil disguised as beer, toes floating in cola, and something resembling vomit on the table...

Young people clearly enjoyed showing off imagination here.

”Thank you, coffee, double milk, double sugar.”

Unfortunately, Fu Qian had no interest in showcasing his eyesight and bravery and naturally nodded, responding as if ordering at a cafe.

Considering the person took the initiative to ask, his response seemed fine.

Despite Fu Qian’s chosen flavor not fitting his youthful peers.

...

”I thought you could get here earlier.”

Just as the enthusiastic girl was at a loss for words, Fu Qian had already moved through the crowd to the spot Eva mentioned.

Out of tune with the party’s lively ambiance, the door was actually closed.

But a mere knock led to it being opened from inside.

Behind the door, a tall, blond young man’s eyes lit up upon seeing Fu Qian, though he soon expressed dissatisfaction with his timing.

”The car broke down near the end.”

Undoubtedly, this was his ”friend” Butters.

Casually telling the truth, Fu Qian glanced around, focusing on what was beyond his friend.

There were two more people in the room, both seriously surveying him.

”Come in.”

Seemingly skeptical of Fu Qian’s excuse, yet his demeanor so natural and composed, Butters soon stopped complaining.

”Sorry, I know you don’t like such settings, but—”

Re-closing the door and exchanging a few looks with the other two, Butters seemed to choose his words cautiously.

However, he was interrupted by Fu Qian’s actions the next moment.

His two fingers lifted Butters’ left hand, exposing the underside of the sleeve.

Under the light, there were unmistakably more than a few drops the same color as the blood-like cocktail from before.
