Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1752: Chapter 1747: Bitter Fruit (41)

Quite right.

Calm and serene, like an ancient well without ripples, compared to her previous dark form, Miss Hilary’s current demeanor is akin to breaking barriers and reaching enlightenment.

Fu Qian is quite confident that her words are not a retreat to seek vitality but that the matter of death no longer brings fear to her heart.

The eyes that were crazily flickering just now are now left with only the light of wisdom.

Of course, for Fu Qian, the comment ”quite right” doesn’t necessarily mean that this state is indeed better.

The key lies in change.

The ”Bitter Fruit” I’m looking for is something that is still growing.

Since the containment condition appeared, for Fu Qian, finding ”change” has been more important than ”secrets”.

Unfortunately, reality comes in reverse; the natives’ little secrets have been dug out one by one, yet the whole Akons looks overly peaceful, with no major movements visible.

Coming back to visit Hilary now, the sudden change after a little stimulation is almost a delight.

Moreover, that’s not all; most importantly, the demeanor Hilary is currently exhibiting is reminiscent of when she explained the treatment effect in the underground stone chamber at the beginning of the mission—

She embraces the effect of ”catalyzing the inner dirt to let it wither,” thus achieving true peace.

And this pose in front of me looks just like she’s hugging herself.

Is this manifestation a symbol of the Bitter Fruit? Was I wrong about the warehouse before?

Was it trying to hint at starting the mission from the conversation with Hilary by making such efforts?

Quite right, having such a positive attitude indicates room for improvement.

In light of this new discovery, Fu Qian immediately tried to find a highlight for the underperforming warehouse this time.

And if Hilary’s special behavior is indeed related to the ”Bitter Fruit,” then some of my initial evaluations and even the name of this containment have a rather fitting context.

The target I’m seeking grows on a spiritual level.

The sharp-witted natives are passively ”comprehending” something, eventually achieving the perfect result.

Of course, this is the optimistic side.

If the assumption holds, Hilary’s current change may also represent a very unoptimistic point—the Bitter Fruit has already grown on her, resulting in such a demeanor.

And this undoubtedly confirms previous concerns; the time left for me is actually not much.

Meanwhile, some actions of Miss Bride Sara in the recently ended second healing dream may also serve as partial corroboration.

Unlike the cautious self-caesarean in reality, the proactive Sara came down, speaking more abstractly and even chose to violently tear open her abdomen, emphasizing, ”The offspring cannot represent Him.”

This mental state, and even the lines with a style somewhat like Hilary’s at the time, from today’s perspective, can seemingly also be seen as a manifestation of some ”Bitter Fruit.”

However, because it didn’t happen in reality, in the circumstance at the time, it was more appropriate to understand it as Dorian’s extreme squeeze for survival, pushing her into such a state.

In conclusion, it seems that the Bitter Fruit indeed grows using the natives as soil, yet there’s not much time left for me.

...

”Why are you not taking action?”

Clearly, Hilary wouldn’t have expected that Fu Qian would have thought so much because of her words.

But she doesn’t seem to mind this point either.

Hilary, at this moment, has a nearly returning-to-nature peace regarding death.

Even seeing that Fu Qian is not in a hurry to make a move, she gave a casual reminder.

”Have you thought it through? After this, you won’t be able to continue serving Lord Akons.”

While Fu Qian admired this level of detachment, he still courteously reminded her.

”That was merely perceived as service; the so-called devotion is clumsy and hypocritical, and even now I only understand this but am not capable.”

A long sigh signified the unbearable past, yet Hilary wasn’t ashamed by it, letting it disperse with the wind.

”Really using this method, to become a unique symbol of oneself, might allow me to draw closer to Him...”

The Insight and Wisdom God remains her belief, not corrupted into another faith.

Besides, once truly enlightened, it’s astonishing; they even plagiarize our shared lines with an unapologetic expression.

Instantly making a judgment, while secretly nodding, Fu Qian also murmured.

The power form corresponding to the Bitter Fruit seems far purer than those ancient Divine Beings.

The changes happening to those eroded appear merely as increased clarity and understanding, an elevation of the spiritual realm— the pinnacle of cultivation.

A concept not contacted once, appearing in Fu Qian’s mind for a moment.

If that’s truly the case, it’s indeed filled with deep Zen meanings.

This forsaken land is being transformed by some special and pure authoritative concept?

Eliminating delusions, granting great freedom to the natives?

And my task is to prevent this from happening?

It sounds almost like an act deserving of divine retribution.

Of course, given that such matters have been carried out over and over, the heart is unruffled, and Fu Qian focuses on another point—

If this is really the case, re-examining the containment conditions is undoubtedly thought-provoking.

Natives must survive.

One reason they are special is because they are soil for the Bitter Fruit.

But at the same time, the warehouse doesn’t allow the soil to be directly removed, meaning that if all people were dead, it would be as unacceptable as the fruition of the Bitter Fruit.

What would happen if this place was turned into an empty city, provoking some adverse reaction?

This seemingly should-have-disappeared historical dust, what role is it truly playing?

Regarding the specific form of Akons’ existence, Fu Qian is intrigued for once.

Additionally, the operation difficulty level of this mission is indeed quite high.

Apart from being carried out behind glass, the natives of Akons, in front of the Bitter Fruit, seem to have no immunity, making it hard to imagine anyone being an exception.

”It makes a lot of sense, from this point, shouldn’t you also thank me?”

During his evaluation, Fu Qian nodded with a smile and even casually sought credit.

”It does sound that way—”

”You’re welcome.”

Hilary’s response was abruptly halted; her neck, with a broken spine, was now held by Fu Qian’s hand.

Though she achieved enlightenment, the Bitter Fruit still didn’t grant her an extraordinary physique like typical evil powers.

The eyes and lungs cannot be harmed.

Remembering Dorian’s requests, Fu Qian carefully held the three Hilarys in one hand and once again exited the church along the old path, heading straight to the clinic.
