Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1774: Chapter 1769: Safekeeping on Behalf

”Thank you for Professor Fu’s help, I will stay here for a while to continue observing the state of those affected.”

Lord Aike ultimately did not explain why there was a concern over conspiracy theories, although she herself seemed to have gained quite a bit from it.

With a solemn expression, she didn’t ask any more questions and directly laid out the next plan.

”You’re welcome, feel free to come to my lab if you have any questions.”

Professor Fu did not mind, and his polite talk reflected the high stature of the Academy.

”Thanks in advance, we’ll take our leave now.”

Aike was straightforward, nodded slightly, exchanged glances with Yuan Fang, and directly took leave.

With such a straightforward exit, the three hosts naturally wouldn’t say anything extraneous like exchanging pleasantries. Chang Mo represented the Academy and also expressed full cooperation, bringing this brief exchange to an end.

”Did Professor Fu just arrive? Thank you for your hard work again this time.”

Watching the two Night Watchers leave and relaxing a bit, Chang Mo turned her head to see Professor of Heaven’s Commencement Institute, who often ran to the Swordsmanship Department.

Although her emotions remained somewhat complicated, she expressed her gratitude very straightforwardly during the small talk.

”Lord Aike takes this issue very seriously, and I can’t disturb the dean. I am always worried about making another mistake.”

Furthermore, she openly admitted her previous shortcomings at work.

As a mentor who was quite close to Miss Liushuang, Professor Chang had a broad perspective.

It’s clear in her view, abducting a beloved student is one thing, but the insight and courage Professor Fu demonstrated in this incident are equally admirable.

Especially earlier, she didn’t even know there was additional danger inside.

”Not exactly, I first went to the Benevolence Institute.”

However, Fu Qian’s response was somewhat unexpected for her.

Uh...

Chang Mo wore a surprised expression, unable to figure out why the first stop after Fu Qian’s return to the Academy was such a remote place.

However, she didn’t intend to inquire further and instead turned to her favorite student.

”Where did you place the sword?”

Today, although there were more than a few unexpected events, the result was indeed delightful.

Having reviewed the final report, she could naturally sense Professor Fu’s intention of letting the favorite student receive the award.

But like Ji Liushuang, the value of the prize exceeded her expectations.

The legendary Sword in the Stone, as a cultivator, it’s impossible to remain indifferent to such an item.

And as the two had come empty-handed, to some extent, it indicated that Professor Fu truly did not mind the prize.

”It’s in the lounge.”

Seeing her mentor’s excitement, Ji Liushuang smiled and pointed in the direction they came from.

”So, did you try it just now?”

Not unexpectedly, Chang Mo was directly concerned about its effectiveness.

”I pulled it out before, and as the legend goes, it gets heavier with each swing. In my judgment, I might only be able to strike three times with it.”

Understanding her mentor’s eagerness, Ji Liushuang shared her experience succinctly.

”Also, when holding it, it’s true that one’s determination is less likely to waver, but the sword must be unsheathed — speaking of which, I need Teacher Chang’s help.”

Oh?

Nodding slightly, Chang Mo, who was analyzing the feedback, was momentarily puzzled.

”Can we leave the sword there temporarily? Could you help me store it?”

With a giggle, Ji Liushuang casually explained her reasoning.

”Carrying it everywhere is quite a burden, and it draws attention.”

...

Attention? Don’t you have such a large lab to store things?

Completely unanticipated, Chang Mo’s first reaction was to glance at Fu Qian in surprise.

During the upgrade of Professor Fu’s lab hardware, she even contributed, so how could she not know how empty that place was?

Especially since this person is often elusive, it feels almost like her favorite student’s private lounge.

In addition, it has special protective barriers, leaving no concern about security.

Her favorite student’s reasoning seemed somewhat unconvincing.

But she got no response from that glance.

Maintaining the pose of seeing off a guest, Professor Fu seemed still immersed in sentiments of parting, completely uninterested in the ownership of the Sword in the Stone.

”If other mentors are interested, it would be more convenient for them to see.”

Meanwhile, Ji Liushuang continued smiling as she spoke.

So that’s the idea... However, this leaves the Swordsmanship Department with even more favors to return.

Reaching this point, it was evident that Miss Liushuang had clearly expressed her intention — she doesn’t intend to hoard the Sword in the Stone but wants to share it for all members of the Swordsmanship Department to contemplate and synchronize.

Indeed, good students are the greatest wealth. Nurturing someone like her is definitely not a loss for the Swordsmanship Department.

This extraordinary item, sought after by many predecessors, unexpectedly ended up here in this manner after many years.

At the same time, as previously mentioned, given that almost the entire matter was handled by Professor Fu, the benefits ended up entirely with the Swordsmanship Department. This favor is truly significant.

But there’s no avoiding it.

Missing such an opportunity would likely lead to regret for the other teachers, and even for oneself.

No matter what, the chance must be taken slowly to pay back.

With this thought in mind, Chang Mo slightly regretted not leading a more luxurious upgrade during the lab’s hardware renovation.

”Alright, I will keep it here temporarily.”

Soon she made up her mind and nodded, already having devised a borrowing system in her mind.

”No matter who it is, if they’re interested, I will allow them on-site observation, but it will never leave the room, and you can retrieve it anytime.”

Her tone was calm but firm, clearly indicating the principle Chang Mo intended to uphold — never allowing her favorite student to suffer a loss.

Luckily, it was reassuring to see that Miss Liushuang was very conscientious in her actions.

Not solely enjoying this benefit, but also not selflessly donating it to the Sword Pavilion.

While that would indeed make it easier for mentors, it would make the Swordsmanship Department’s advantage too obvious, appearing bizarre to the Night Watchers.

Therefore, even if she intended to do that, she herself would firmly oppose such generosity.

”Then I must trouble Professor Chang, can I also request a leave today? To handle some matters in the lab?”

Once Chang Mo accepted the suggestion, Ji Liushuang was quite pleased and took the opportunity to submit a leave request.

”...Alright.”

Chang Mo certainly wouldn’t refuse, though she couldn’t help but glance again at Fu Qian.

Professor Fu is perhaps the Academy’s pillar, but each return indeed leads to excellent students skipping classes as well.
