Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1787: Chapter 1782: Overwhelming Hype

So, life is unpredictable, and being overly dedicated may not necessarily be a good thing.

In this accident, Professor Ah Kai, the only mentor who treated the unit as his home, suffered the most severe damage.

This was fortunate for him, as he was not directly hit by those spikes.

Just from the scene before us, one can fully imagine the dangers involved.

The Benevolence Institute, once also considered grand, is now pierced from top to bottom with one gaping hole after another, on the verge of going from desolate to outright scrapped.

Aside from this nightmare-like scene, there are even other traces left behind — around the building, countless feathers have scattered all over the ground.

The spikes that emerged from the underground not only pierced through this massive building but also shattered feathers, which were indeed real.

Though turned into a material form, they aren’t pure white, but rather a pale gray.

The same goes for the one stuck on Professor Ah Kai.

”Inside, it’s filled with these things, stuffed like a bird’s nest.”

”And though it seems ordinary, with no extraordinary power, I noticed when I came out that the feathers extended deep underground, likely related to the commotion just now... Professor Fu, do you want to go down and take a look?”

Noticing Fu Qian’s movement, Ah Kai also momentarily set aside his sadness and started recounting his experience.

”No rush.”

Fu Qian simply shook his head at this, fiddling with the feather in his hand, showing no intention of going in to investigate with few people around.

People gathered to watch because this incident was quite significant.

They weren’t more proactive because this incident was too significant.

A bunch of meteors fell, which was just surface commotion.

As mentioned earlier, the key is where the meteors land.

The Destiny Meteor of the Prison Angel Commander landed here, regardless of the previous speculations being true or not, the forthcoming events will involve angel faith remnants, academy secrets, Night Watchman conservatives, and even the Native Council.

Indeed, although Professor Ah Kai was a prodigy, when it comes to secrets related to the Benevolence Institute, the first thought in Fu Qian’s mind was their former director.

Nepheli.

This Second Phase individual, with whom he had dealt more than once, left various phenomenal academic achievements before decisively leaving to join an organization considered top-tier illicit.

How much does she know about the Benevolence Institute’s underground? Even the Prison Angel Commander?

Even the Needle Witch?

What intersection is there between that Night Watchman who was uninhibited in methods and the Native Council?

Unknown.

All these questions cannot be answered at the moment.

But it doesn’t mean these questions won’t be raised.

This meteor shower, undoubtedly elevated the excitement level of the situation to a brand-new height.

Numerous elements that were supposed to have no connection were directly mixed into a mess, various forces getting involved is almost certain later on.

Since that’s the case, why rush foolishly and arouse suspicion?

”I’ll ensure no one rashly barges in, you’d better try to contact the mentors.”

Not in a hurry to explore, Fu Qian even directly suggested to Professor Ah Kai to confirm the situation of Benevolence Institute personnel, while he controlled the situation to prevent accidents.

”Alright...”

Clearly realizing the urgency, Ah Kai had no objections to this arrangement and quickly left.

At the same time, Fu Qian reached out to catch yet another feather as it drifted down, comparing it.

Almost identical to the one on Professor Ah Kai, along with the Angel Dungeon of the wasteland.

...

”Is everything alright?”

Dawn light almost reached his hand through the window; Fu Qian sat in his seat appreciating the brightness as he greeted Ji Liushuang who had just entered, casually asking.

His face already revealed, needing to maintain order without on-site instruction seemed pretentious.

Shortly after Professor Ah Kai left, Fu Qian handed over the task of controlling the situation to Ji Liushuang, returning to the lab to hold down the fort.

A mere student may have little influence, but given everyone should know who she works for now, handling such tasks shouldn’t be a problem.

”Mm.”

Despite the morning’s hustle, Miss Liushuang’s eyes were still quite bright as she nodded seriously.

”Professor Ah Kai already confirmed that the mentors are unharmed.”

”And the Benevolence Institute has been cordoned off, with strict prohibition on anyone entering.”

”Good, thanks for your hard work.”

With verbal commendation, Fu Qian gestured that she could take a break.

”Director Li wants to know if you have time...”

But in the next moment, Ji Liushuang did not respond but instead shook her head and continued.

Oh?

”Director Li advanced to Demigod?”

Fu Qian seemed to understand the reason for the trace of joy in Miss Liushuang’s eyes.

”Yes, shortly after you left, Director Li arrived, and everyone was quite surprised.”

Miss Liushuang’s tone lightened considerably; despite the academy suffering no personnel damage due to the meteor fall, they now had one more Demigod.

The result of a busy morning was evidently worth it for her.

...

Not surprising for a Sword Dao family, I suppose this also counts as an alternate form of legacy help?

Fu Qian was equally pleased with the news brought by Ji Liushuang.

Li Weixuan indeed proved himself, truly becoming the youngest Demigod officially recognized in years.

And considering this filled ranking, the long-vacant position of academy director should transition smoothly next?

Congratulations.

The meteor shower was indeed magical, the situation just keeps getting more exciting.

”I communicated the situation to Director Li; he’s now discussing it with Professor Ah Kai and them.”

”Considering you’re the first Demigod to arrive, Director Li would like to hear your opinion, saying if possible, it’d be great to join them.”

Amidst these musings, Ji Liushuang further explained why this invitation was extended.

Oh?

Fu Qian glanced out the window.

Such a broad invitation, clearly the research assistant kept a tight lip, apart from advertising one’s own commendable on-site command, no dialogue previously held here was communicated to Li Weixuan.

”Unfortunately, it’s inconvenient.”

Despite that, Fu Qian still smiled and declined the invitation, handing over a piece of paper.

And Miss Liushuang, shocked at all, didn’t expect Professor Fu to react this way while instinctively reaching out to take it, discovering a circular emblem-like design drawn on it.

The lines were simple, resembling a heart split down the middle, with the two halves also resembling a pair of wings.

”I have a few things to do, would you help deliver this personally to Director Li?”

Fu Qian now gave a very generalized reason.

”Regarding the situation in the Benevolence Institute, it reminds me of an underground building I once encountered in the wasteland.”

”Inside were similar emblems and similar gray feathers.”
