Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1765: Chapter 1760: Death Seed

High efficiency, this thing wasn’t here when I left.

With a sigh of admiration, Fu Qian wasn’t surprised as he looked around, successfully capturing more scenes different from before.

The once empty laboratory was no longer so barren.

Various furniture and daily necessities resembling the style of the table cloth, light fixtures, and even curtains, made the livability index increase exponentially at a glance.

Obviously, the application for improving research conditions that he had previously submitted was responded to with quite high efficiency, further enhancing the image of the key laboratory.

Of course, there was a reasonable element in his demands; the application deliberately focused on soft furnishings, which were much easier to implement.

In any case, such a working environment should ideally boost the work enthusiasm of the laboratory employees, right?

Walking all the way to the window, Fu Qian surveyed the scenery outside with his hands behind his back. Although his posture was leisurely, the righteous aura of an academic leader radiated from his back, making it hard for anyone to look directly at him.

Although there was no one behind him, the sole employee was not around.

As a good student, Miss Liushuang was obviously engaged in intense study at the institute at this time.

In that case, why not take advantage of such wonderful time to go out for a visit.

...

”Professor Fu, please come in.”

A moment later, with the sound of the door opening in the silence, Professor Ah Kai suppressed a yawn as he looked out with some surprise.

Indeed, while feeling the vibrant vitality of the young students along the way, Fu Qian chose to visit Benevolence Institute, which incidentally had the least vitality, as his first stop.

The building remained majestic, yet the popularity was still sparse.

”Good morning, Professor Ah Kai. You seem full of spirit; perhaps your previous research yielded some results?”

Even though Professor Ah Kai was napping close to noon, Fu Qian felt no incongruity and praised without hesitation.

Of course, as a fellow researcher, he would never offer unfounded compliments.

The reason for being full of spirit was simple; from Fu Qian’s perspective, Professor Ah Kai’s momentum seemed subtly elevated compared to last time.

In just under a week, a true case of being worthy of admiration after only a short absence.

Therefore, Fu Qian didn’t beat around the bush and focused on the counterpart’s progress.

After all, it was a project he personally initiated; whether Professor Ah Kai gained some insights or inspiration from the story of the giant dragon ”Huo,” who embodied decay, was of considerable interest to Fu Qian.

And at a glance, it seemed Professor Ah Kai indeed had some good news.

”Yes.”

His eyebrows rose high with excitement; faced with Fu Qian’s inquiry, Ah Kai immediately embodied a scholarly style and simply nodded.

”I was planning to visit you in these two days; it’s almost the least roundabout exploration I’ve done so far.”

And he indeed seemed diligent; probably didn’t leave his place these last two days, not even aware that Heaven’s Commencement Institute’s temporary leader had gone out for field studies previously.

The more chaotic room, with papers and pens strewn about, also reflected this fact quite well.

”Thanks to your previous guidance, I believe I’ve discovered something quite meaningful at the Benevolence Institute.”

Ah Kai didn’t seem embarrassed by the messiness, casually tidying up a bit, and eagerly invited Fu Qian to sit.

...

So quickly? Indeed, a new generation elite of Benevolence Institute.

Verifying the sensory results earlier, Fu Qian was deeply satisfied with such a good progress on the first project.

”No need for politeness, what exactly is the effect?”

As for Professor Ah Kai’s gratitude, Fu Qian casually indicated it need not linger in mind, then directly inquired about the core issue.

”It bears quite a resemblance to the fear of decay you previously mentioned, which is why it’s considered a relatively clear exploration.”

Ah Kai obviously didn’t favor excessive formalities and responded candidly.

”In fact, I’ve already planned to use this as its name, and if you wouldn’t mind, even include your name in it.”

Oh... Fu’s Decay, perhaps?

”That won’t be necessary. This honor belongs to the Benevolence Institute.”

Fu Qian blinked, naturally forming an uncanny picture in his mind, and casually declined.

”Heh, overall its specific effect is quite close to what its name suggests.”

To Fu Qian’s open-mindedness, Ah Kai seemed unfazed and didn’t insist.

”Decay, decay that nothing can be immune to, and even the affected things display different forms...”

The next moment his expression turned grave, gesturing with a hand.

”Upon successful activation, the initial area of effect is very small, almost just a point, but it doesn’t disappear; instead, it will spread all around, forming a barely noticeable spherical zone.”

”Anything caught, regardless of whether it’s a living organism, quickly falls into decay over time, even Transcendent items are no exception.”

”It’s like planting a seed of death in the world.”

...

A World’s Death Seed, indeed sounds fitting to the described content.

Naturally envisioning the scene Professor Ah Kai described, Fu Qian silently reflected, while some memory surfaced in his mind.

When ”Huo” planned to escape, it once left an invisible mark on a building, leading to direct ”growth” of cracks within.

Though its manifestation differed, endowing anything with the essence of decay at its core, clearly aligned with Professor Ah Kai’s description.

”Unlimited expansion?”

The next moment he confirmed more details.

”Unlimited expansion.”

Ah Kai nodded with a tone of certainty.

”Initially, I also found it hard to believe, but that’s indeed the case; unless specifically neutralized, it will continue consuming.”

”Frankly speaking, Benevolence Institute rarely has such a strongly aggressive miracle... Although somewhat cumbersome and with painfully slow spread, under suitable conditions, it can still achieve some special effects.”

”Moreover, the personal significance for me seems even greater; the ranking of this miracle is evidently extraordinary.”

Pointing to himself, Ah Kai candidly acknowledged having gained substantial benefits from it.

”Upon completion, I received nearly the strongest feedback since joining Benevolence Institute; though still distant from Demigod, it seems not entirely out of sight... Professor Fu, make sure to let me express my gratitude later on.”

”Rest assured, I won’t be shy. Is there anything else?”

With genuine sincerity, Professor Ah Kai’s progress in scientific discovery was comforting to Fu Qian, who reciprocated honestly without formal politeness.

”Indeed there is, though that might need to be personally experienced to be clearer. Please follow me, it’s just over there.”

Ah Kai promptly stood up, leading the way ahead.

So during their chat, had he been genuinely cultivating a Death Seed beside them?

Admiration filled Fu Qian’s heart for a moment, and he accepted the invitation to follow the lead.
