Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1776: Chapter 1771: Reminder and Thanks

Uh...

When Jia Keke saw Fu Qian standing alongside Ji Liushuang, she was visibly quite shocked.

And as she rushed to get closer, what the former casually mentioned left her stunned, giving a surreal feeling of a time-jump.

”Today isn’t regular office time. Who sent this message?”

However, Miss Liushuang remained unfazed and casually asked.

”Hello, Professor Fu...”

Emotions really are contagious.

Under Ji Liushuang’s overly calm aura, Jia Keke, who was originally a bit confused, forcibly calmed down somewhat.

But after greeting Fu Qian, she hesitated next, wanting to say something but stopping.

”It’s okay.”

Although Jia Keke’s expression clearly conveyed the message ”this is confidential,” Ji Liushuang straightforwardly responded without hesitation, in a manner so brief that she wouldn’t say another word.

”...It’s Lord Angui. He contacted me earlier and advised that it’s best not to leave the Academy’s area in the near future.”

Jia Keke wasn’t too surprised by this result; she quickly nodded and confirmed the previous speculation with a name.

Sure enough, it was a warning from the demigod Angui.

Given the time needed for the assistant to find someone, the notification was timely.

”Last night, Yasui launched a retaliatory action against the Sirens. People were assassinated in multiple regions, and Lord Angui predicts there might be more intense conflicts later, so he suggests reducing outings.”

Before Fu Qian and the others could comment, she continued explaining.

”I went to the Academy first, but I couldn’t find anyone, so I kept looking.”

Indeed, despite her young age, Miss Liushuang had a boss-like demeanor, such as not carrying communication devices, and—

”Please extend my gratitude to Lord Angui.”

After earnestly listening to the assistant’s message, Ji Liushuang’s expression didn’t change; she simply nodded slightly.

”Tell him there’s no need to worry; things are secure on my end. Additionally, the operations of the Gospel Group won’t be impacted.”

...

Isn’t she a bit too confident?

Although Ji Liushuang showed no signs of surprise, making her assistant Jia Keke guess she had already been informed, and possibly had arrangements in place, her last statement still seemed unusually certain.

The Gospel Group is indeed a service aimed at non-Transcendents, but given its sensitive nature and the fact that two major organizations are currently stirring things up, in her judgment, the Night Watchmen might be in a wait-and-see approach, but it’s hard to predict what response they might eventually make and if they will become more stringent in some respects.

Yet she is so confident it won’t be affected?

”Alright, I’ll reply shortly.”

Even though she had doubts, Jia Keke stuck to her role as an assistant and refrained from asking unnecessary questions.

While nodding, she still couldn’t help but steal a glance at Professor Fu nearby out of the corner of her eye.

This recipient of her personal messages, though she hadn’t interacted with him much, always gave off an enigmatic vibe.

If he were involved, those odd abnormalities seem a bit less strange.

Of course, Jia Keke clearly had no intention of confirming anything with him and was even trying to avoid eye contact as much as possible.

As a professional assistant, her opinion might be insignificant, but Jia Keke always strives to avoid unnecessary guidance in the Gospel Group’s operations.

Fortunately, it’s reassuring that until now, Professor Fu has merely been observing silently without any intention of commenting—

”Wait a moment.”

Just as this thought crossed her mind, she noticed him seemingly remembering something, suddenly calling out to stop.

...

”Professor Fu, do you have anything else to add?”

With her heart skipping a beat, Jia Keke’s first instinct was to look at Ji Liushuang, but unfortunately, the latter only showed a hint of curiosity and had no intention of speaking.

”Lady Jia, you’ve been around here for quite some time, haven’t you?”

”Yes, I haven’t left since then.”

Though smiling kindly, having such an expression on a demigod as inscrutable as he, exerted immense psychological pressure, making Jia Keke answer cautiously while her mind raced through various security levels of the Gospel Group.

”So, can you recommend any good restaurants around here?”

But the next moment, the question asked made her freeze, her mind momentarily going blank.

”I’m not here often enough to know this area well, and Miss Liushuang probably doesn’t go out much either.”

But Fu Qian seemed entirely uninterested in her reaction, merely surveying the surroundings.

”Um... Actually, I haven’t been out much either. If you’re looking for something more private, would you like to come over to my place? I can have food delivered.”

Despite being a seasoned middle-tier, seeing Ji Liushuang remain silent, Jia Keke took a deep breath, regained her composure, and quickly offered a suggestion.

”Certainly.”

Professor Fu was indeed affable, seemingly having full confidence in her taste.

...

It’s evident that the Gospel Group still has abundant operational funds.

As the assistant to the person in charge, Jia Keke’s residence wasn’t luxurious, but its location was excellent, providing a quiet space amid the hustle and bustle.

And after leading the two there, Jia Keke adhered to her emphasis on privacy and quickly left to make arrangements.

”Jia Keke’s appointment as an assistant indeed had recommendations from Angui.”

After watching her leave, Liushuang, who had been mostly silent, turned to Fu Qian and said softly.

”Though Jia Keke was initially considered an outsider with little involvement with Angui, his firm support for me was surprising, so there was little objection at the time.”

Clearly, Ji Liushuang wasn’t entirely clueless about her assistant.

”Your uncles and relatives didn’t think Angui intended to influence your decisions through Jia Keke, while they were also curious why Angui acted this way, so they just went along to see it unfold?”

”That’s entirely understandable. Do you think so too?”

Fu Qian nodded slightly.

It’s not surprising that Jia Keke wasn’t a core member; if she were a known figure in the Ji Family, she wouldn’t have been in charge of protection on the boat to Ye Island, or it would be too suspicious.

”I do think she’s reliable, so I hope she sees me, and Angui, as reliable too.”

Recognizing the loyalty of her assistant, Ji Liushuang briefly explained her earlier behavior.

”I wholeheartedly agree.”

Fu Qian clearly appreciated Miss Liushuang’s perspective.

”If reliable, I actually have something I could use help with.”

And with that, he quickly found paper and pen nearby and drew a pattern, handing it over.
