Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1767: Chapter 1762: The Essence of Miracles

The fear induced by death truly triggers death.

Professor Fu’s reference opinions were obviously thought-provoking.

So much so that in that moment, Professor Ah Kai stared intently at his half-dried finger, lost in thought.

The essence of the two negative effects is a cause-and-effect relationship, a possibility he undoubtedly never considered before.

”I trust Professor Fu’s perception ability, but first of all, let’s not talk about how inanimate objects without emotions or will are also withering...”

For genuine researchers, prestige is always just an additional label; to be persuasive, one must actually be persuasive.

”If that’s the case, even if the hand is withdrawn, the withering should diminish in sync with the fear, rather than exhibiting such a contrast?”

And clearly, Professor Ah Kai quickly thought of more than one argument to refute.

”Could it be because after withdrawing the hand, the withering is no longer confined to that segment of the finger?”

Fu Qian had no displeasure about this and continued to present his opinions.

”And your own overall weakness is regarded as a normal side effect because of the previous testing experience?”

”Since your ranking has increased to some extent, it’s hard for me to confirm the changes in you over the past eight hours, but one thing can still be confirmed, which is that you are moving towards death at an unconventional speed... I am, too, right now.”

Saying this, Fu Qian pointed back at himself.

”These are conclusions I’ve drawn from my perception. As for the fact that inanimate objects are also affected, it is indeed interesting and seems difficult to refute.”

”It’s just that due to the limitations of your ranking, some information eludes you here.”

”It is not a simple fear emotion but rather a higher-tier thing, and its impact isn’t confined to the spiritual level, so I prefer to call it a curse.”

...

Professor Ah Kai’s professional competence is unquestionable.

While I provided some core hints, completing the miracle deduction in such a short time and successfully reproducing it multiple times isn’t easy.

Because in Fu Qian’s view, this act of exploring miracles is essentially like trying to guess the world’s cheat code from a pile of chaotic basic data, and it’s hard to imagine the hardships involved.

Not only did Ah Kai achieve this step, but he even came up with a preliminary test report that appeared coherent.

The only issue is that his detection precision is still insufficient.

Ranking isn’t everything, but regarding this miracle, his ranking is indeed somewhat low.

This is also the unavoidable danger inherent in Good Spells.

Exploring higher-ranking ”knowledge” is necessary for advancement, but the associated risks aren’t fully manageable for low-ranking explorers.

Gaining any achievement indeed implies some aspect of fate in it.

”Curse?”

For instance, the current situation is evidently beyond Ah Kai’s limits, and he could only comprehend it through imagination for the moment.

”Yes, it’s not that it’s unrelated to fear, you can interpret it as inherently more challenging to define, just manifesting in the form of fear on the will level.”

Fu Qian also aimed to use descriptions most easily understood by the other party for this.

And this was indeed his intuitive feeling.

The core of this miracle is exceptionally special, as once contaminated, it’s not just being instilled with intense fear, but in Fu Qian’s view, it’s more like a higher-ranking special power form, directly staining the origin self upon contact, hence Fu Qian terms it a curse.

And its specific content, as indeed mentioned earlier, is difficult to define.

If forced to summarize it, the keyword Fu Qian could give is ”God.”

Yes, not only is it not fear, but it’s not related to any other specific authority either; in Fu Qian’s perception, the core of this curse is some ”Superior Being.”

It’s like a sentence with It as the subject.

And everyone entering the ”Fear of Decay” would be compelled to bear this sentence.

...

Truly, it is a unique power; could this be some aspect of the essence of a miracle?

Back on Ye Island, Miss Liushuang had already simply introduced that miracles originate from ”knowledge,” the latter particularly referring to ancient secrets and mysterious legends.

And this point does seem to correlate vaguely with the core concept of a ”Superior Being.”

In fact, this is also why Fu Qian just asked what the most precise definition of a miracle is for professionals like Ah Kai.

”Lady Nepheli, who has already departed, once wrote in one of her manuscripts—a miracle’s essence is a story, and it is a true story.”

At this moment, due to the news brought by Fu Qian, Ah Kai, who was in shock, seemed to finally recall the question brought up earlier.

”I never quite understood why it’s necessary to emphasize this sentence, although reading more is indeed basic homework for Good Spells, but honestly, in the real deduction of a miracle, spirituality still plays the biggest role.”

Ah Kai shook his head somewhat self-deprecatingly.

”For instance, the ’spell’ that almost inevitably occurs when each miracle is released, in this process often emerging little by little in will in an unpredictable manner.”

”You know it’s there, but reading it accurately is difficult, let alone understanding its meaning; I’ve never known what any of them mean.”

”But now, combining Professor Fu’s statement, I seem to faintly understand a bit more—’a purer thing,’ could it refer to that true story?”

Ah Kai’s gaze gradually grew excited, and for a moment, he didn’t pay attention to the withering on him that apparently wouldn’t dissipate on its own.

The miracle itself is a true story that once happened, and releasing it is akin to reenacting that story?

And the insight from the former dean he shared also intrigued Fu Qian deeply.

Combined with my previous feelings, could it not be interpreted as ”the story of the Divine Being”?

Interesting, but there’s a problem here—

Although this miracle was derived from the Dragon of Decay ”Huo,” to be fair, it can barely be regarded as a Superior Being.

At the most, it matches my Second Phase and already completely perished.

More so, the ranking of this miracle feels not even enough for Huo.

But if not Huo, who is the subject of the story?

Why would a miracle related to Huo be connected to ”It”?

According to the cause of Miracle Creatures discussed with Ah Kai last time, was Huo born because of that Him?

Of course, these questions can be explored slowly later.

”Your idea makes a certain sense, but for now, we need to handle the experiment residue first.”

As he spoke, Fu Qian’s hand was already grabbing Professor Ah Kai’s head, simultaneously activating the Return Edict.
