Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1759: Chapter 1754: Tangled Umbilical Cord

As for the last description, the barrier between human will and the land where the gods fall?

The warehouse remains dark, and Fu Qian continues to ponder the mission summary.

It sounds like such a reprehensible act of disrupting people’s peace ultimately ends up saving all of humanity?

Considering past behavior, the warehouse probably wouldn’t sugarcoat the language just to spare one’s feelings.

Then if Akons is ”purified,” what kind of impact would it have, truly makes one ponder.

According to the summary, Akons is located in the depths where the mind cannot reach, and the outsiders represented by those who think too much ultimately encounter a good doctor and are turned into dolls.

As for how people are in the real world, there’s no way to delve deeper.

And the realm where the gods have fallen?

Honestly, the moment this term appeared, an image almost simultaneously appeared in Fu Qian’s mind—a surreal, overlapping bubble of light and shadow.

The hiding place of senior Liliyana, the place where I obtained the ”Eternity” trait, suspected to be an absolute taboo of the Night Watchman.

In this sense, the many high-level powers rampant within can be better understood regarding their origins.

And the fact that deep within the human mind lies a path leading there?

That indeed should be better isolated.

Based on my travel experiences, if there were seamless connections with the Mental World of ordinary people, any slight mishap might result in catastrophic scenes.

As for the cause of the barrier, the reflection formed in the depths of collective unconsciousness seems plausible.

Moreover, it seems it shouldn’t just be Akons alone; after all, ancient beliefs were numerous, and the task summary also mentioned ”dumping.”

If it were a pile of such remnants of belief joined together, forming a barrier seems only natural.

...

So what kind of development would it be if all the people of Akons were purified by that unknown great power?

Would Akons no longer exist, with a hole in the barrier allowing things to leak out?

Or despite its presence, all people inside have ”achieved enlightenment,” transforming Akons into some abstract passage to deeper realms?

This is currently unclear, but based on the containment conditions, the warehouse’s stance is clear—Akons must exist and retain at least one native, whether corrupted by the Bitter Fruit or not.

From this, there is reason to suspect that if all the natives are gone, Akons would be difficult to maintain.

One could say it’s indeed a troublesome task, the warehouse might as well assign a mission to directly find and eliminate that great power.

Is it worrying my strength is insufficient, or does the target have something supernatural, such that simply eliminating it doesn’t solve the problem?

Considering it’s likely a First Phase and beyond, it’s not entirely impossible.

Besides, it’s not all bad; at least there could be a chance for a proper visit afterward.

For now, why not take a look at the extra reward, as this name seems a bit special.

Fu Qian flipped to the Special Reward.

...

[Name: Tangled Umbilical Cord]

[Type: Special Item]

[An umbilical cord without ends intertwined, ancient to the point of drying, yet miraculously flows with thick blood.

Being in possession of this item marks one as an Ancient Supreme, but due to the blood representing divinity being excessively tainted and impure, carrying it for more than half an hour will subject one to its desperate prayers, inducing unforeseen divine aberrations.

Cannot be taken into missions in any manner; consuming it will grant 99 SAN Points]

[Note: The destiny of the umbilical cord should be to dry up, especially an ownerless umbilical cord, so this rebirth only makes its nature more impure]

This... twisted bread?

Having reviewed the introduction to the special reward, Fu Qian examined the item in his hand, even pinching it to test its texture.

The exterior is smooth and smaller than a real human umbilical cord, but indeed has a certain similar pliancy.

You can also fully feel the thick blood flow described in the introduction.

And calling it bread wasn’t sheer nonsense.

Similar in size, just as described, twisted and intertwined yet forming a whole, as if nurturing itself.

A closer look reveals various parts of different lengths and widths, from deep purple to grayish yellow, with subtle color differences.

It seems one might understand the cause of the ”divine blood blend,” perhaps it’s not just one mixed together?

Corresponding to Akons’ many Superior Beings?

In any case, this kind of appearance suggests eating it would replenish blood, making it quite persuasive.

This was also the first time acquiring such an item, directly increasing SAN Points, and a substantial 99 points, undoubtedly robust.

Also, it arouses more curiosity regarding the meaning it represents.

For Fu Qian, whose SAN Points have returned to triple digits, this need isn’t so urgent, no rush at all.

Additionally, the description of ”cannot bring into missions in any way” is seen for the first time.

The warehouse seems to dislike it, resembling the remains of the world, with the term ”impure” not downplayed at all.

No matter, such an apparently widely involving and time-limited dangerous item was never something to rely on for mission completion.

As for the legitimate use of the umbilical cord, wearing it marks one as an Ancient Supreme, a concept somewhat complex to grasp.

Literally, it seems to embody the role of the Abandonment King?

But at least in Fu Qian’s perception, having held it for so long, there’s no feel of any ranking change.

In the next moment, he casually pulled it over and wore it around his neck like a necklace.

Still no change, seems unrelated to how it’s worn.

Only in other people’s eyes does it bear the aura of Ancient Supremes?

Or could it only activate in special circumstances?

Fu Qian naturally thought about the barrier formed by the godforsaken place.

Maybe in the future, there might be a suitable occasion to take it to a similar place to see if it unveils any wonders.

Moreover, the item’s description, especially the remarks, somewhat complement the mission summary.

The umbilical cord relating to gods is indisputable, but its expected dryness yet revival undoubtedly correlates with past doubts—

Clearly, a decayed ruin, yet the numerous powers of the Superior Beings are preserved so well, even suppressing oneself?

And Lord Akons, who disappeared millennia ago, left behind a small boon strong enough to drive them away?

So it’s not that the True God miraculously preserved till now, but something revives them—that one who ”banished” oneself.

Simply by observing Akons and treating it as one’s own Mental World to digest, caused their powers to be reawakened.

The gods who suppress even myself, were ”imagined” by it.
