Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 897: Here Come the Mud-Headed Guards!

Admittedly, no matter what Lin Yu did at this moment, it would be easy for Fu Luo to discover him.

But that didnʼt mean he hadnʼt made preparations in advance.

In a place where those who needed to pass through couldnʼt afford to lose emotional control, leaving a few corpses lying around—wasnʼt that just standard operating procedure?

After all...

Idle hands are the devilʼs playground!

At this moment, Lin Yu, hearing the alarm blaring, immediately shouted at the top of his lungs.

”Damn it—our negative thoughts and emotions have exceeded the warning threshold—these things are going to purge us!”

”Shit, we just went through a brutal fight,” King Vulture pulled out her serpent staff, grinding her teeth. ”Does your guide have anything written on how to deal with them?”

At that moment, all seven ”Bronze King Grand Guards” snapped their heads around simultaneously, the warning lights resembling eyes atop their heads beginning to flash with piercing red light.

Fu Luo also assumed a combat stance, making a show of dramatically posturing as he retreated behind the others. ”Do they have any weaknesses? Or even a hint about their weaknesses—if thereʼs just a hint, I might be able to quickly identify their weak points!”

Facing the questions from both of them, Lin Yu put on a flustered appearance.

”I remember there is one—it seems like they have an ʼAlchemy Coreʼ component in their chests, which is the core that operates and maintains their movements, equivalent to a computerʼs CPU,” Lin Yu said rapidly. ”But... those things are also extremely well-protected. Even though itʼs a weak point thatʼs destroyed the moment itʼs hit, itʼs also the most heavily armored and best-defended spot!”

Fu Luo sighed. ”After all, these were created to deal with the Cataclysm, so the design would definitely maximize its ability to handle various situations and be stacked to the extreme with materials... The core definitely wouldnʼt be easy to hit—this isnʼt some action game!”

Afterwards, Fu Luo half-jokingly sized up those guards that were now moving rapidly, shaking the ground with their oppressive presence. ”If we regain our composure now, is there still a chance to make peace?”

”Impossible. Once exposed, they lock on. They basically wonʼt change targets or give up on annihilation.”

Lin Yu stated.

”Then is there an easier weakness to exploit? It doesnʼt have to destroy them—even any suggested countermeasure would work,” King Vulture said urgently. ”Or what about their attack patterns?”

”Ray attacks! They fire high-powered ʼChaos Raysʼ—and then, regardless of whether it works or not, they follow up by using their size and mass to ram and crush!”

Lin Yu shouted immediately.

During their conversation, the seven Bronze King Grand Guards had already rapidly taken positions, surrounding them near the direction of the gate.

And the moment Lin Yuʼs voice fell...

”Buzz!”

Without any raising of hands or wind-up, the seven massive autonomous puppets simultaneously fired rainbow-colored beams from their chests, resembling giant searchlights!

The thickness and breadth of the rays were comparable to a household inflatable kiddie pool. Rather than calling them light beams, they were more like light pillars!

No, even calling them light pillars failed to describe this cascading rainbow light.

This was practically a super massive waterfall of light!

The positions and angles of the seven beams even seemed to have been calculated, completely covering their location.

”Damn! What do we do?!”

King Vulture couldnʼt help but curse out loud.

But...

By the time her words faded, King Vulture had already realized something.

Since she could still speak, that meant these rainbow lights that had covered her entire field of vision hadnʼt affected her at all.

”Who—?!”

King Vulture thought, and then she heard Fu Luoʼs delighted voice ring out.

”Old Yao, great call! Great reaction! You actually nailed it!”

It was that Old Yao?!

King Vulture looked toward the front in shock.

There she saw that short, thin, dark-skinned man standing in front of them, hoisting a mirror even larger than his own body!

This mirror was naturally created by Lin Yu using the [Counterfeit]—although the [items] produced by the [Counterfeit] only had the appearance, sometimes having the right appearance was more than enough!

Like this enormous mirror, for instance!

Hearing the praise from behind, Lin Yu ”struggled” to turn his head back, revealing a ”forced” grin on his face.

”I guessed, Brother Furbollo. I figured that light rays... no matter how mystical, they still have the property of being reflected by mirrors, right?” Lin Yu said, his voice trembling. ”I didnʼt expect to bet correctly!”

”Youʼre a genius,” Fu Luo gave him a thumbs up. ”Now we should deal with this ʼChaos Rayʼ problem...”

”Not quite solved yet,” Lin Yu put on a look of barely holding on. ”Who knows how long this thing lasts!”

That was, of course, a lie. Lin Yu had long since tested that these guardsʼ Chaos Rays lasted at most half a minute, and they took a long time to recharge.

So...

There were still a few seconds left!

As Lin Yuʼs words faded, the Chaos Rays—those rainbows that were dizzying just to look at even when they didnʼt hit—immediately began to dissipate.

Afterwards, Lin Yu let out a long breath.

”Finally over!”

He said with relief, collapsing onto the ground and retracting that ”heavy mirror.”

”Donʼt let your guard down, Old Yao. Didnʼt you say that after the rays end, regardless of whether they hit or not, theyʼd... charge at us!”

Kitty reminded him, and Lin Yu immediately put on a ”panicked” expression.

”Right—everyone, scatter!”

The ground began to tremble violently—the seven Bronze King Grand Guards had already closed in at a full sprint—they had originally been hundreds of meters away from the players, and now they were barely over ten meters apart.

”RUMBLE!”

This attack method that relied purely on ”mass” to generate tremendous kinetic energy was primitive, but it was indeed something no world could afford to ignore.

At this moment, everyoneʼs face turned pale, as if they had arrived on a national highway with no surveillance cameras!

Kitty scrambled desperately, trying to drag Lin Yu on the ground and escape with him, while King Vulture immediately serpent-transformed and manipulated several crimson snakes, attempting to coil around Lin Yu and flee with him...

Lin Yu on the ground was gratified that neither of them had abandoned him, and couldnʼt help but once again marvel that although ”people of the righteous path” might have vastly different personalities, at least the base color of their ”nature” was kindness.

Of course, that Fu Luo, who had already pulled out a childrenʼs scooter and zipped more than ten meters away, was the exception—although he was also kind, his base color was still ”coward.”

But Fu Luo had grown quite a bit. Even while riding his scooter, he was still shouting.

”Run! Run!”

And watching this scene, Lin Yu stood up at the most critical moment.

Now... it was his turn to perform!

After all, his goal was just to make things harder for everyone, not to actually get these people killed.

[Most Suitable for the Virtuous and Frugal], activate!

Lin Yu peeled off the crimson snakes on his body, then grabbed Kitty with his other hand.

”Off you go!”

The [Earth Evasion Talisman Armor], one of the few powerful [items] on Old Yao with a clearly known origin, gifted by the Tycoon—activated!
