Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 872: Love Story of the Misty Islands

Listening to Old Zhengʼs description of the Lord of the Sixth Island in the Misty Sea Archipelago, Lin Yu was surprised.

”Didnʼt you say you donʼt know much about the Sixth Island?”

”But I have met the Lord of the Sixth Island... in any case, this island is probably the most ʼorderlyʼ one among the Misty Islands.”

As Old Zheng spoke, Lin Yu nodded.

As a ”monster,” he had plenty of reasons to break away from the main group of players, and he did intend to do exactly that.

”Everyone, the Sixth Island has arrived, fate willing, we shall meet again.”

Lin Yu said this, then made a move to leave.

But Fu Luo spoke up to stop him.

”Hold on, what about my friend?”

”Oh, heʼs on this island. Donʼt worry, heʼs safe right now, but youʼll probably have to go pick him up yourselves.”

Fu Luo looked at him and said in a deep voice, ”This isnʼt what we agreed on.”

”Donʼt worry, I wonʼt let you lose out. His location is near where the ʼinheritanceʼ is stored,” Lin Yu said calmly. ”Iʼm being quite sincere here.”

Fu Luo frowned. ”How can I be sure youʼre telling the truth?”

”Other than trusting me, you donʼt really have any other options.”

Standing on the small path, Lin Yu released a massive amount of water mist, and then his figure vanished from everyoneʼs sight once again.

In an enclosed space, these players would have found it nearly impossible to work together to restrict his movements, let alone in such an open and unfamiliar environment.

Within the water mist, Lin Yu spoke in a low voice.

”Hannah, help me create a cool exit effect, make it look like Iʼve ʼdissolvedʼ or something.”

”Ribbit! Understood, Director!”

Having spent so much time with Lin Yu, Hannah had almost transformed from a Tiny Chef Apprentice into a ”seasoned lighting coordinator” or a ”top-tier special effects artist.”

Lin Yu no longer needed to give overly specific instructions, Hannahʼs improvisation was more than enough to achieve the effect Lin Yu expected.

The Illusory Ink mixed into the water mist, then concealed Lin Yuʼs figure.

Through the hazy water mist, the players outside saw that blurry human silhouette disperse like it was collapsing, vanishing abruptly like a popped bubble.

Nineteen frowned. ”So it was all an illusion? Then the attack earlier, why did it work?!”

Fu Luo calmly spoke up. ”Even though itʼs an illusion, with this level of intricate detail, if you attacked it, it could easily backfire on the main body.”

Chlorpromazine also nodded. ”The more realistic the illusions created by the monsters of the Misty Islands, the harder it is to distinguish between the illusion and the main body.”

They really did start speculating in the direction Lin Yu had preset, and a few players who knew more about the Misty Islands, along with the silent military otaku, already had several answer options forming in their minds, including ”Mirage Soul.”

Meanwhile, within the water mist, Lin Yu activated the Corner of the Gloomy at this moment, swiftly moving through the shadows of the trees.

Although the Sixth Island was called an island, for one of the top ten ranked islands...

Just looking at the length of its coastline, one could tell it was unexpectedly vast.

Greenland is also an island, after all.

This was also why Lin Yu had split off from the group. He knew this island was too massive. If he followed these players around in circles,

he would lose his advantage!

After all, with Old Zheng around, even if he didnʼt know much about the situation on the Sixth Island, Lin Yu could definitely use him to avoid many detours.

Having used up the ”information gap,” now Lin Yu needed to exploit the ”time gap.”

After all, he hadnʼt actually planned to just drop a coordinate and then coast by.

If possible...

The entire ”inheritance” of Freud, he had to claim it for himself.

”Tell me, Old Zheng, whereʼs the most central part of this island? You canʼt possibly not know that, right?”

As Lin Yu spoke, Old Zheng was somewhat surprised.

”Iʼve chatted with the Lord of the Sixth Island. There are two towns and one ʼruinʼ on this island that could all count as central... depends on how you define it.”

”The Lord of the Sixth Island usually lives in a town she calls ʼCassetti,ʼ living together with many of the islandʼs native residents. But the town called ʼFrostedueʼ is larger in scale and has the business of ʼfiringʼ and ʼsun-dryingʼ bones. Because of the Great Technological Regression, most islands still use old-style buildings, and the bones and bone ash of many large Abyssal Spawns and island monsters are good materials that can be used to repair those old buildings across the various Misty Islands.”

”As for the ruins... although the Lord of the Sixth Island never said so, I suspect thatʼs the place where she crawled out of. Itʼs currently sealed.”

Old Zheng paused. ”However, none of these three places should be where my ʼinheritanceʼ is buried. After all, my stuff is somewhat dangerous and contaminating, so she probably buried it somewhere less important.”

Old Zheng said this, but Lin Yu shook his head.

”I donʼt plan to find your inheritance directly. I just want to locate the residents of the Sixth Island first. Anyway, letʼs head to Cassetti first.”

”You want to directly approach the Lord of the Sixth Island and use my name or something to extract information from her?” Old Zheng hesitated when he heard Lin Yuʼs words. ”I donʼt recommend that, because I canʼt predict how sheʼll treat you.”

”To put it in terms youʼd understand... although she doesnʼt have a bad personality and isnʼt fond of deception or toying with people, her mental state is very much like a bipolar patient from our side.”

”If sheʼs in a low mood, she might not even see you if you go looking for her... but if she happens to be feeling irritable, and you walk right into the line of fire, she might develop negative feelings toward you. Youʼd just be asking for trouble.”

Lin Yu shook his head. ”High risk, high reward. Even if I donʼt meet her directly, I should at least observe the residential layout of the Sixth Island... Although you can rule out the two towns and the ruins, other players will likely head there.”

”I can set things up there before they arrive,” Lin Yu said, then suddenly realized something was off. ”Wait... Old Zheng, Iʼm suddenly curious. Are you really that close with her?”

”Why do I get the feeling that youʼre very sure using your name to approach her would bring bad results?” Lin Yu finally pieced together the important hidden information buried beneath Old Zhengʼs words. ”Why is talking to you like squeezing toothpaste out of a tube? Chat a little and I find out youʼre still hiding things from me!”

”She helps you deal with your inheritance, and sheʼs likely hostile toward your ʼHeirʼ or ʼrelated parties.ʼ What, did you two date or something?”

Old Zheng was silent for a moment. ”Boss, from my perspective, youʼre actually the terrifying one. No matter what I try to hide, you dig it all out of me with one scoop after another.”

Lin Yu was immediately shocked.

”Holy crap, Old Zheng, you actually dated a native of the Ten Realms!”
