Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 729: White-Hot

Facing Li Nianʼs request, Lin Yu looked at her and calmly gave his answer.

”Sister Unforgotten, Sister Master Thief, my dear sisters, Iʼm already aware of this—Zhu Ming told me about it. But... if I report this to ʼOrder,ʼ how do I explain my source of information?”

Li Nian fell into thought as well.

”Well...”

”Hey, I have an idea.” Lin Yu looked at Li Nian and raised a finger. ”Why donʼt I say I beat you in our fight, and you confessed this while begging for mercy? How about that?”

Li Nian wanted to refuse at first, but after a second thought, recalling that terrifying codename sheʼd heard earlier, she nodded heavily.

”Fine!”

”But go easy on me... or Iʼll tattle to Sister Zhu Ming.”

Li Nian said cautiously, putting away her utility knife, and crouched down with her head in her hands.

”Whatʼs the rush? Iʼm not hitting you now.” Lin Yu looked down below. ”Those four are locked in an intense fight down there; they canʼt even notice whatʼs happening up here. Letʼs wait until both sidesʼ reinforcements arrive—once another wave of people comes, both sides should stop.”
Li Nian raised her head again, listening to Lin Yuʼs words. ”How are you so sure more people coming will make them stop?”

”Because tonightʼs fight escalating to this point was an accident in itself. ʼOrderʼ doesnʼt want high-level combat like this without a contingency plan, so close to the cityʼs residential areas,” Lin Yu said calmly. ”And if ʼOrderʼ doesnʼt want to fight, you were already the ones trying to pull out anyway... Unless you plan on fighting ʼOrderʼ to the death here in Jiangcheng?”

Li Nian exhaled. ”Yeah, we definitely donʼt want that.”

Lin Yu spread his hands. ”So there you have it. Just wait for the new arrivals, then Iʼll start beating you up.”

Li Nian stood up. ”Alright... I hope they hurry up, because it feels like someoneʼs about to die down there.”

...

Meanwhile, as Lin Yu and Li Nian had their peaceful exchange.

The battle below had indeed taken a grim turn.

Under Good Nightʼs strategy of trading ”injuries” for ”combat power,” his speed and strength had already climbed to new heights.

In such a situation, even while within the influence range of Phantomʼs [Exclusive Item]—[The Miracle Stage Focused on You]—Good Night had managed to keep up with Phantomʼs pace.

”Shiiing—”

A metal playing card flew in from Good Nightʼs right rear blind spot, slicing toward his ribs.

But in that instant...

Good Night suddenly sidestepped, causing the card to miss.

”What?!”

Phantom stared at Good Night, feeling something was off.

This wasnʼt the first time a card had missed, nor the first time Good Night had dodged, but this time... Phantom sensed a difference.

Through constant accumulation, Good Nightʼs speed and power seemed to have broken through some ”critical threshold”—a threshold that represented the balance of the battle.

”Shish-shish-shish—”

Then, three more playing cards fell into empty space.

Phantom immediately understood the source of that ”off” feeling from before.

More and more cards were missing.

To be precise... hitting Good Night with a card had now become a low-probability event.

The man burning with black flames weaved through those butterfly-like metal cards, dancing as if among blades.

But whether it was the metal cards or other [items]... none could touch him anymore!

And no matter how Phantom urged his [items] onward, Good Nightʼs trajectory suddenly became clear and direct.

Step by step, he began closing the distance between himself and Phantom.

”Boom!”

Good Night kicked aside the floating chair in front of him and appeared before Phantom.

”You piece of shit, havenʼt you had enough fun?”

Good Night grabbed the keyboard again and swung it around in a full arc toward Phantom.

With no room to dodge, Phantom raised his cane to block, and then...

”Crack!”

The cane snapped in two, and Phantomʼs tigerʼs mouth split open at the same time. He stumbled backward three full steps.

That single blow had already made him feel like his bones were injured.

But to Good Night... this was just an appetizer.

”Get ready to rot in the ʼEternal Cageʼ for fifty years!”

Good Night declared, raising the keyboard high as all the black flames on his body converged onto it.

Phantom didnʼt hesitate either. He threw away the broken cane and let out a long breath.

”Fine, looks like thereʼs no other way—Teacher Bunny, get ready for that!”

The rabbit in the corner flipped up, landed on Phantomʼs shoulder, and both of them stood under the spotlight.

”Are you sure?”

”Iʼm very sure—if I donʼt use this move now, Iʼll really end up half-crippled!”

”Fine!”

The rabbit replied as both of them simultaneously tossed their top hats into the air.

Then, the rabbitʼs hat and Phantomʼs hat collided midair. The rabbitʼs hat entered Phantomʼs hat, then flew out again. The two hats spun in the air before merging into one...

A massive top hat.

Standing under the spotlight, Phantom declared loudly, ”Now—I hope this works!”

The classic prelude to a miraculous magic performance. From within the enormous hat came a deep, melodious sound.

”Woooo—!”

Good Night looked up at the dark, empty hat hovering in the air and took a deep breath.

”Whatever it is, bring it on!”

Meanwhile, on the other side...

The battle between Paper Kite and Xiaoyun had grown even more intense.

More and more corpses. More and more gunfire.

Both sides had clearly shown signs of exhaustion under the massive attrition and consumption.

The bullet holes in Xiaoyunʼs body, on non-vital areas, were no longer being transferred or repaired. She simply stuffed them with severed limbs to stop the bleeding and left them untreated.

”What a troublesome opponent... Even with two male ʼOtakuʼ corpses, one female ʼOtakuʼ corpse, plus two demons and a Barbarianʼs Mutilated Body as ʼblood banksʼ for damage transfer, itʼs almost reached its limit?”

Xiaoyun muttered, sensing that in the [Mortuary Compartment], the six bodies were almost unrecognizable—turning into a bloody pulp.

As for Paper Kite...

The fact that some bullets landed on Xiaoyunʼs non-fatal, non-joint areas was enough to show he wasnʼt in peak form either.

Even though his shooting ability rivaled any [Class] bonus or [item] effect, for Paper Kite...

Too many disturbances still affected his performance.

He could accurately fire bullets into fast-moving targets even when dizzying colors and lights appeared before his eyes.

But if his body got shoved or his wrist twisted while pulling the trigger, that was something Paper Kite couldnʼt avoid.

He wasnʼt some kind of deity, after all!

”Damn it...!”

Paper Kite gritted his teeth as the cylinder rotated and ejected bullets. The smoke from the gun barrel hit his face, practically scorching hot.

”Continuous firing... even if bullets can be replenished, my stamina and this pistol are reaching their limits!”

”ʼUndertakerʼ... this bitch is way too tenacious!”
