Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 580: Chapter 579: What are You Babbling About?

That rotten brother of mine! Ever since he got married, he’s been treating me worse and worse.

Evelyn Peary’s dissatisfaction grew. She wished she could slap him right in the face, but she didn’t dare.

”You’re trying to control our girl talk as well?” Evelyn Peary glared back angrily. Muttering under her breath, she quickly pulled Nia Mitchell towards the Living Room of the old house.

Left behind, Maxwell Peary watched them, his gaze fixed on their clasped hands.

Tsk, so annoying.

Upon entering the Living Room, Nia Mitchell became much more reserved. She released Evelyn Peary’s hand and stood waiting for the CEO’s arrival.

”So rude! She doesn’t even know how to greet people?” Phoebe Harris shot Nia Mitchell a disdainful look, her dissatisfaction surging.

Nia Mitchell was taken aback. Greet people? Huh. Greet whom? Forgive me, I genuinely have no clue how I’m supposed to address the people in this old house. After all, however I address them will indirectly represent Maxwell Peary. His relationship with this family is too peculiar for me to get involved.

Just then, Maxwell Peary walked in.

Samuel Peary looked up at Maxwell Peary. His late arrival was infuriating enough, and his perpetually irritating expression didn’t help.

”Since everyone’s here, let’s get to business.” Samuel Peary then glared fiercely at Evelyn Peary before turning his attention to Yancy Hastings, who sat off to one side.

Whether intentional or not, a hickey was clearly visible on the side of Yancy Hastings’s neck that faced everyone. Mmm, obviously made by a woman; the purplish bruise was very distinct.

Seeing him sit there ramrod straight with such a serious expression, they almost doubted their own eyes.

Yet, no matter how they looked, staring with wide eyes, the hickey was still there.

”I am here today to cancel the engagement,” Yancy Hastings repeated, looking at Samuel Peary, clearly aware of what the man was thinking.

”Yancy Hastings, you and your father came to propose the marriage. Now that you’re here to cancel the engagement, why have you come alone?” Samuel Peary was clearly displeased. Apparently, the Hastings Family had no respect for the Peary Clan. They even dared to go back on their word like this.

”My marriage is my own business. I can make the decision myself.” Yancy Hastings sat there, neither servile nor overbearing, completely forgetting that his father hadn’t come because he couldn’t afford the embarrassment.

”Make the decision yourself? You don’t respect our family! This marriage...”

”What are you talking about?” Evelyn Peary immediately cut Samuel Peary off. What is he playing at? I’ve been wishing on stars and moonbeams for this moment, and he’s deliberately trying to ruin it, isn’t he?

”This marriage is between him and me. Since we’ve both agreed to cancel it, what are you babbling on about?” Evelyn Peary shot Samuel Peary a disdainful look. He only cares about his own interests. This is clearly selling off his daughter!

Samuel Peary choked, his brows furrowing tightly.

Seeing this, Phoebe Harris, who was seated to the side, immediately stood up.

”Evelyn, he is your biological father, after all. How can you speak to your father like that?” Phoebe Harris adopted an earnest, persuasive tone, her expression like that of a troubled stepmother who didn’t know what to do. To any outsider, Evelyn Peary would undoubtedly seem unfilial.

”What does this have to do with you? We Pearys are discussing our family matters. Who do you think you are, daring to come here and criticize me? Even my own mother never dared to say a harsh word to me!”
