Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 292: Chapter 291: The second half of life like this is too worrying

Evelyn Peary’s eyes widened instantly. What... what? Her lips twitched, and she struggled to digest this shocking news. A proposal? The Peary Clan must have been kicked in the head by a donkey.

”Yancy Hastings, don’t scare me. Don’t tell me you agreed.”

Hearing Evelyn Peary’s words, Yancy Hastings awkwardly touched his nose.

”I wasn’t home when the Peary Clan came, but...”

Yancy Hastings’s words were simply to let her know he hadn’t promised the Peary Clan anything. However, before he finished speaking, his statement took a turn.

Evelyn Peary swallowed hard. But what?

”But, I don’t mind if my future wife is you.”

A faint blush crept up Yancy Hastings’s wheat-colored face, unnoticeable without a close look.

Yancy Hastings had no idea that this very statement had thoroughly disgusted Evelyn Peary.

”Please, dislike me.”

Just the thought of spending her entire life with Yancy Hastings made goosebumps erupt all over her skin. This was too repulsive. People who grew up together were called childhood sweethearts, but they were just platonic friends. Imagine marrying, kissing, and having children with one of your purely platonic guy friends... It was unimaginable. What was the difference between this and incest?

”Don’t you like me?”

Yancy Hastings frowned. He remembered that when they were younger, Evelyn Peary had seemed quite fond of him. Was it because he had been gone for too long that she... But no, that couldn’t be right. Their relationship was still good; it hadn’t weakened over time.

”I...”

Evelyn Peary wanted to express that her liking for him was purely platonic, a friendship. However, she was afraid this blockhead wouldn’t understand, and the more she tried to explain, the more troublesome it would become. So, she immediately changed her words.

”Yes, I don’t like you.”

She took two steps back. This was too terrifying.

”Emotions can be cultivated. Besides...”

Yancy Hastings’s words were interrupted by the sudden ringing of his phone. He frowned, a nearly imperceptible creasing of his brow. He wanted to ignore it, but very few people knew his number, so a call had to be important.

”Answer your phone!”

Evelyn Peary pointed at the phone in his pocket. Don’t speak, answer the phone. This call must have been sent by her savior from the heavens.

”It’s from Maxwell.”

Yancy Hastings stated before turning to find a private place to answer the call.

Hearing this, Evelyn Peary’s heart felt like it was about to burst with joy. That’s my brother for you! He knew she was in trouble and was coming to her rescue.

Almost jumping for joy, Evelyn Peary turned and fled.

”What’s the matter?”

”Nia Mitchell was just taken away. Find out who dares to make a move against me.”

Yancy Hastings was stunned, his expression instantly turning serious. In recent years, Maxwell Peary had risen higher and higher in power. In the beginning, quite a few people had tried to oppose him. But now, very few dared to challenge Maxwell Peary.

”Okay, I’ll investigate right away.”

Yancy Hastings agreed, hung up, and turned to speak to Evelyn Peary.

”Evelyn Peary, I need to...”

Yancy Hastings’s words died in his throat. He stood there awkwardly; Evelyn Peary was nowhere in sight. He didn’t even notice when she had slipped away.

Shaking off his feeling of helplessness, Yancy Hastings’s hawk-like eyes narrowed, and he took out his phone.

”Look up Nia Mitchell.”

He was even more curious than Maxwell Peary to find out who would dare to act so brazenly in Capital Town. It seemed this adversary’s audacity was extraordinary. He hoped they possessed the skill to truly ’play’ with them.
