Chapter 281: Chapter 280: Nia Mitchell Has Been Misled

MC Group

As soon as it hit five o’clock, everyone left work, and Nia Mitchell was aimlessly tidying up.

”Nia Mitchell, why do you seem so down today?”

Diana Hill curiously looked at her, wondering why she still seemed so glum even after work.

”I’m not unhappy, probably just a bit tired.”

Is this the rumored Monday Syndrome?

”Well, I’m off then.”

Diana waved her hand. Every time she invited Nia Mitchell to leave together, she would refuse, so this time Diana didn’t say much either.

Watching Diana leave, Nia Mitchell sighed and, sitting in her seat, took out the new phone.

Her SIM card had already been installed in it, and she dialed Maxwell Peary’s number.

”I’m sorry, the number you have dialed has been switched off. Please try again later, sorry...”

Hearing the cold female voice on the phone, Nia Mitchell hung up, her head bowed.

Maxwell Peary must still be on the plane right now.

He didn’t even tell her why he had to leave so hurriedly.

Forget it!

Never mind!

Nia Mitchell angrily grabbed her phone and dialed Fiona Sutton.

”Fiona, come on out! I’m treating you to a feast.”

Nia Mitchell yelled in frustration. I’m going to max out Maxwell Peary’s card!

”Well, well, Nia Mitchell, I’ve known you for seven years, and this is the most human sentence you’ve ever said.”

Fiona Sutton wasn’t happy if she didn’t insult someone at least once a day. SLURP! She took a huge mouthful of her instant noodles, the loud sound transmitting through the phone to Nia Mitchell’s ear.

”Fiona, you’re not eating instant noodles again, are you?”

Nia Mitchell frowned. Is there anyone lazier than her? Their dormitory building is the closest to the cafeteria, isn’t it?

”I’m having afternoon tea. Cut the crap, where are you treating me? If it’s some street food stall, just spare me. I can’t be bothered to go. It’s not worth running out for a dozen USD worth of snacks. That’s a rip-off, and I’d probably spend a lot on transportation too.”

”We’re going to Lotus Residence. Their Chinese Cuisine is particularly famous.”

Nia Mitchell thought for a moment, then gave an address.

Fiona Sutton stopped eating her noodles and instantly became serious.

”Nia Mitchell, tell me honestly, did you rob a bank? Do you still have money left over?”

What kind of place was Lotus Residence?

The prices there aren’t any lower than Madgar Pavilion! Good heavens, that’s a place where rich people gather!

And the biggest difference between Lotus Residence and Madgar Pavilion is that Lotus Residence doesn’t serve people without status.

In other words, if you’re just an ordinary wage earner, even if you’re ready to spend several months’ salary on one meal, sorry, they won’t serve you.

That’s just how it is; they’re that arrogant.

”Nia Mitchell, it would be too embarrassing to be kicked out. If you have too much money to burn, let’s just go to Madgar Pavilion.”

Fiona Sutton hesitated for a moment, then GLUG! took a big gulp of her noodle soup and let out a loud, unladylike burp. Ah, satisfying!

Nia Mitchell’s mouth twitched. If Uncle Peary saw Fiona Sutton like this, he might realize that I’m actually quite well-mannered by comparison.

Hmm.

Why am I thinking about Uncle Peary again?

”Hello? Hello? Hello? Nia Mitchell, are you mute? Say something!”

Fiona Sutton shouted, tossing the instant noodle container into the dormitory trash can.

”I mean, Nia Mitchell, you never actually intended to treat me, did you? That’s why you suggested Lotus Residence, knowing full well we can’t get in, right?”

Fiona Sutton tutted. Who on earth did Nia Mitchell learn this from?

How did my sweet little Nia get led astray all of a sudden?
