Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 276: Chapter 275: Displaying Affection in Front of Phoebe Walker

Nia Mitchell scowled. So, it was about saving face for Maxwell Peary to attend the banquet, but if she did the same, she was just freeloading? Was it all just about social status? Did they really need such a double standard?

”Maxwell Peary really has some nerve,” Nia grumbled, feeling distinctly aggrieved.

”Nia Mitchell, speaking about Mr. Peary like this... Aren’t you afraid that if he finds out, he might kick you out?” Phoebe Walker said, leaning smugly against the wall, already visualizing the scene of Nia being thrown out.

”Kicked out? Heh, Phoebe Walker, you’re talking about yourself, aren’t you?” Nia raised an eyebrow, acting just as arrogant and domineering as Phoebe Walker.

”Phoebe Walker, are you sure you want to oppose me? I fear you won’t even be able to remain in the Finance Department.”

Phoebe Walker instantly clenched her fists, hating Nia’s attitude but helpless to retaliate.

”I’m not wasting my time with you any longer; it’s pointless!” Phoebe Walker snapped, then angrily turned and left, heading straight for the CEO’s Office.

Nia shrugged. The coffee was already brewed, and she would have to see Phoebe again later anyway.

”I didn’t expect her to leave the Secretary Department and still come here to show off,” Diana Hill scoffed, watching Phoebe Walker’s retreating figure.

”Nia Mitchell, you need to be cautious when you speak with Mr. Peary later. Don’t give her any chance to exploit the situation.” Diana Hill was genuinely surprised by Nia’s earlier words. Even with Alan Morgan’s support, if she offended the CEO, she would probably still be kicked out.

Nia nodded, giving Diana Hill a smile.

In this office, Diana Hill was probably the only one willing to speak frankly with her.

”Don’t worry about a thing,” Nia said, raising an eyebrow and patting her chest reassuringly.

Even without her special relationship with Maxwell Peary, she wouldn’t just let herself be wronged like that. Sometimes, words spoken aloud can’t change anything or achieve any particular result. But... it feels so satisfying!

Carrying the two cups of coffee, Nia walked to the CEO’s Office, took a deep breath, and knocked on the door.

”Come in.”

Maxwell Peary’s distinctively cold voice drifted through the crack of the door. Nia pushed the door open, a cheerful smile on her face.

”Mr. Peary, your coffee.” She walked over with a spring in her step, carefully placing the steaming hot coffee in front of Maxwell Peary.

”Careful, it’s hot.”

Those three words echoed in the Office Room. Did you think Nia said them?

Wrong. Those three words came from the esteemed CEO himself.

Erm...

A deathly silence fell upon the vast Office Room, broken only by the sound of breathing.

Nia let out an awkward laugh. ”Mr. Peary, you’re so considerate, even caring so much about us junior secretaries,” she said with a nervous chuckle, ”I’ll be careful.”

After speaking, she deliberately glanced at Phoebe Walker. If Phoebe grew suspicious, it would be all over.

Maxwell Peary raised an eyebrow. His right hand, which had been writing non-stop, paused as he looked up at Nia Mitchell.

His gaze was scrutinizing, making Nia a little uneasy.

Although Phoebe Walker stood to the side with an expressionless face, she was inwardly gloating, eagerly anticipating the CEO putting Nia in her place on her behalf.

However, Nia detected an emotion in the CEO’s eyes that Phoebe Walker missed. Beyond scrutiny, there was a hint of teasing, and... erm... that distinct, intense gleam his eyes usually only held at night.

”Am I really that considerate?” Suddenly, Maxwell Peary, completely ignoring Phoebe Walker standing to the side, propped his chin on his right hand and asked with a disarmingly innocent expression.
