Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3261 The Grimoire of Fate

”Fallen Heaven, can you kill her?”

”Impossible… she has a karmic binding placed on me that disallows me to kill her, and even if it were not for that, I suspect that I canʼt kill her with how weak we are currently.”

”!@#$%^&*”

Davis wanted to utter a string of swear words at Fallen Heaven, wondering why it would only say that now.

”I only found out about the karmic binding now when she checked to see if she could still control me.” It followed up.

”So itʼs like she has dibs on you even though you and I are connected. Fair enough…”

Davis felt like it was just as he thought.

After all, which existence was going to gift an apex treasure just like that? But he hoped that it wasnʼt the case, his wish crumbling right in front of his eyes.

The fact that the World Master could overpower Fallen Heaven even in its specialty, the karmic domain, was simply frightening to him.

The feeling he got from her was that she was an existence he couldnʼt hope to compare in a thousand years, much less a hundred years.

Nonetheless, he felt somewhat good now that Fallen Heaven was no longer sulking and decided to speak to him, likely understanding the weight of the situation.

”Please… wait a minute…”

Myria understood that she acted rude and calmed herself, standing straight as she folded her hands, ”What does his origin have to do anything with your decision? Whether heʼs Tian Long or some heaven-forgotten existence of yore, it shouldnʼt matter as he is who he is. He never even displayed a layer of ambition. In fact, his ambition is to beget a family that would love him, an ambition most people who cultivate would frown upon and even spit at as they wouldnʼt even call it an ambition but a commonerʼs dream.”

”…”

Davis gazed at Myria speaking for him, not expecting her to defend him even if he was some old fox with a complicated circumstance. He wanted to say he was not, but he was too stunned to speak.

”Divine Saintess Myria.” The World Master responded calmly, ”Itʼs just as you said. I had ulterior motives when I saved you because you were the perfect candidate who could unlock the secrets of the Grimoire of Fate.”

”…!” Davis and Myriaʼs gaze flickered as they heard Fallen Heavenʼs name.

However, the World Master continued after a pause, ”You are highly compatible with the Grimoire of Fate, more so than anyone I have seen in the Three-Layered Universe, but this man over here stole your destiny from nowhere. I even set up the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace, believing you would inherit it and help you grow, but this man again infringed on what was yours. Are you not angered by this? Have you never considered that he tried to fool you right from the beginning?”

”…”

Myriaʼs brows twitched. Her expression sank as it revived the old doubts she had of him before she got to know him more.

Davis also looked at Myria. He could tell that she indeed had thought of him that way before, but that was obvious even before the World Master mentioned it. Naturally, it wouldʼve cleared with time, but-

”A seed of doubt is very dangerous. Look into the deepest parts of my memories if you wish to know my true nature, Myria. Iʼm not against or afraid.”

Davis spoke confidently, but he glared at the World Master as it was obvious to him what she was doing, trying to sow discord between them. However, to Myria, it may very well be wise advice and justified suspicion due to his non-existent past.

Still, he didnʼt understand why, as the World Master wouldnʼt need to do such a thing unless she had some sick tendencies to watch people with mutual trust fight against each other.

”I donʼt need to.”

However, Myria coldly uttered before waving her hand, ”So what if he is trying to plunder my destiny? I know from the bottom of my heart that this man is harmless to his loved ones. I have already decided that I love him. Therefore, Iʼll gladly give my destiny to him if he needs it.”

”…”

Davis stood up, his lips parted as his mouth hung agape.

In front of one of the most powerful existences in the universe, did this woman just boldly confess such an embarrassing thing with a straight face?

He was moved that she already trusted him to this point, but he didnʼt want her to be so blind. If anything, he wanted her to confirm that he was truly Davis before getting with him, as that was his own obsession. For that very reason, he was willing to make enemies out of the World Master because if she had been a man and couldʼve very well spied on their personal life, that was crossing his bottom line no matter the reason.

As a cultivator, he must abide by unbendable rules even if it costs his life, or if he ignores those rules or values, he will find himself daydreaming like a common man, his Will no longer upholding and determined as before

Nonetheless, the World Master stared at Myria from the moment she made countless ripples appear in Myriaʼs heart, not even glancing at him. Her eyes narrowed.

”That kind of foolishness was what got you cornered. In the end, you had to rely on my help.” She uttered in a disappointed tone, appearing unmoved.

”I didnʼt ask for it, but Iʼm still grateful. Thatʼs why- Iʼll do as you say, so spare him.”

Myria bit her lips, pleading with the World Master for Davis.

The World Master kept her eyes narrowed while Davis wanted to interrupt as he didnʼt want Myria to take his place or be burdened because of him.

”I donʼt know about him, but you just donʼt understand.” She finally heaved a sigh as though taking pity before her lips moved again.

”How many Primeval Law Treasures are there?”

Myriaʼs brows severely narrowed. To bring that into conversation, wasnʼt this woman no longer afraid of being monitored by the mystical laws of the universe?

Or was this place space-tight and karmic-locked?

Myria didnʼt know but inwardly heaved a sigh and answered the question.

”I donʼt know what they are, as I forgot because of the karmic burden plaguing them, but I at least know the number and that the Grimoire of Fate is one of the ten Primeval Law Treasures.”

”…”

The World Master continued to glare at Myria as though expecting more information from her.

Myria glanced at Davis and saw that he was also intrigued, causing her to move her lips.

”The Primeval Law Treasures are, as its name states, birthed by the universe at the very beginning of its life. They were present along with the Paragon Magical Beasts, their powers said right below or even equal to them. As I said, there are ten of them, but their current users are unknown except for Davis.”

”…” Davis sucked in a deep, cold breath as he heard Fallen Heavenʼs origin.

He expected it to be somewhere along the lines of supreme treasures above Empyrean Stage or even after that, but when he finally heard that they lined along with the fabled Paragon Magical beasts from the beginning of the universe, he was thoroughly stunned.

It was no wonder many would go after it despite the consequences.

It was no wonder Saintess Lunaria and many would be afraid of it, not wanting to do anything with it.

”Wrong.”

However, a single word from the World Master caused Davisʼs understanding to shatter, shooting a gaze at her in confusion.

”There are indeed ten Primeval Law Treasures.”

The World Master raised ten frail fingers, folding her right handʼs thumb finger into her palm.

”The Tablet of Life and Death.”

She continued to fold the other fingers one by one.

”The Orb of Chaos.”

”Wand of Destruction.”

”Five Elements Quintessence Crystal.”

”Space-Time Quintessence Ring.”

”Heavenspark Lightning Jewel.”

”Wait-”Davisʼs heart crazily shook.

”Binding Gale Fan.” However, the World Master continued to list the remaining Primeval Law Treasures.

”Thread Essence of Karma.”

”Hell Poison Gem.”

”Necklace of Light and Darkness.”

”!!!”

Myriaʼs gaze shook. She had heard of three Primeval Law Treasures utmost, namely the Heavenspark Lightning Jewel, Space-Time Quintessence Ring, and the Binding Gale Fan. As for the others, she had only heard rumors of their destructive powers and never got to hear their names, but now, she knew of all ten, her ears ringing heavily, her heart shuddering in fright.

Davis also froze, his lips moving a moment later.

”Thereʼs no Grimoire of Fate…”

”Because two Primeval Law Treasures have gone missing long ago, never to be seen again in the Three-Layered Universe.” The World Master responded.

”No way…”

”You canʼt mean…”

Davis and Myria expressed their disbelief, causing World Master to nod.

”Indeed. The Tablet of Life and Death and the Thread Essence of Karma are the Primeval Law Treasures that had gone missing.”
