Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3256 Finally Getting A Breather

”Tia, you cannot be disrespectful to my elder sister like that. I wonʼt allow it.”

Ellia spoke, but her tone of voice was soft, as though she was advising her little sister.

”Hehe~” It caused Tia to giggle, ”My bad. I thought- well, never mind. Iʼll leave it to big brother to tell everyone an awesome story later on about the secret realm you ventured into. Iʼm eagerly awaiting it.”

”…” Davis could tell this lass knew of his adventures even without her having to come with him like she watched everything through divination.

But he guessed it also had to do with the mysterious black-robed woman and the three other souls.

Nonetheless, he walked to her and checked up on Clara. Sensing that she was sleeping somewhat peacefully using Enigmatic Heart Laws, he heaved a sigh of relief inwardly.

”The influence seemed to have receded, but what about the next time? Will she be influenced again?” He asked.

Tia nodded, ”Thatʼs highly likely since the treatment was shattered, so her physique will heal again, bringing back the foreign influence when there is a tribulation or if she proceeds to become an Immortal Emperor. However, thereʼs no need to worry since we can try to treat her physique again, although one should be prepared for the consequences, as I said before.”

”After all, since the previous treatment failed, Clara might already be on the priority list of who knows whatʼs out there.”

”…” Davis narrowed his eyes, but a faint smile appeared on his face, ”Evelynn will do it again since I trust her to succeed.”

”But only after giving birth.” He added.

He didnʼt want her to be laden with karmic burden when she was going to give birth and encounter a ridiculously powerful tribulation.

As for Clara, he felt that it would be good if she remained in the Immortal King Stage and learned a lot of knowledge in the meantime. Although her cultivation would be impacted compared to others, he felt that it was way better than her suffering the influence.

All they had to do was move her away from Divergentʼs Tribulation, and everything would be fine.

”But what if it failed?” Tia asked a bold question, causing Davis to think.

He thought for a few moments before opening his mouth.

”Then-”

”The Seraphim Raceʼs blood is useful when it comes to many things, and the rumor is that it could even give Heavenʼs Warriors the freedom of Will.”

”…?”

”Itʼs only a rumor. I canʼt tell the veracity of it, but itʼs common knowledge in the Celestial Transcendent Greater Realm that those who are not Heavenʼs Warriors but absorb Seraphim Raceʼs blood will meet an early death as they wouldnʼt be able to withstand the extreme quality of their blood. Even magical beasts and spirits meet the same fate.”

”Woah…” Davis was flabbergasted. Even the magical beasts couldnʼt absorb a Seraphimʼs blood.

That kind of blood was too overpowered.

He didnʼt ask her why she didnʼt tell him this as he felt she had her own reasons: for one, they couldnʼt obtain Seraphim Blood in the First Haven World, and two, it would be stupid of them to invest in a rumor, unverified information that might harm Clara in the end.

However, he suddenly made a confused expression.

”Wait… the Seraphim race enjoys free will despite being the heavenʼs first children?”

”Theyʼre the first children.” Myria didnʼt provide much explanation.

”Ah…”

But Davis quickly understood. The privilege of being the firstborn.

Was the heavens a good entity? Or was it fair? Or was it hypocritical? Which one was it?

Davis couldnʼt tell, but since it was antagonistic towards him and most of his family members since they were also Divergents, it would be his enemy. He shook his head, narrowing his eyes towards Tia.

”By the way… these Upper- I mean, upper-tiered enemies. Do you know what they were called in that story?”

”Thatʼs enough.” Myria interrupted before Tia could say anything, ”Tia, go look after Clara. She needs you more than she needs us.”

”Of course, big sister Myria.” Tia radiated a refreshing smile as her voice floated around like a melody.

”…”

Her expression made Myria a bit uncomfortable as she felt like this woman before her could see through everything. Regardless, after she watched her leave, she turned to look at Davis and squinted her eyes.

”Donʼt go searching for things that donʼt exist.”

”Alright.”

”Look… you- we possibly left a realm laden with a precarious fate, and I wonʼt have it again.”

Davis perfunctorily answered, but she caught his hand and spoke in a soft voice.

ʼThings that didnʼt happen…?ʼ Davisʼs expression was blank.

Those four souls… they died…

Presumably, they were all from the future, coming with good intentions for him, but they broke a universal taboo that was eradicated from the face of the universe.

Just hearing that manʼs first wife sacrificed her life for their children made his blood boil, but there were four casualties right now, four people who had his best interests in mind, forsaking their lives to allow him to live a good life. The fact that he forgot them made him even madder than the times he faced the retarded Fire Phoenix Clanʼs Patriarch, not to mention he was completely rude to them, almost killing them with Fallen Heaven if something went wrong.

Even that manʼs last love was sealed, giving him no way out other than to expend the last bit of life of his to seek revenge, even at the cost of forsaking everyone else.

To have been pushed that far, he was seething with rage from the bottom of his heart. His emotions, etched with sorrow, were finally replaced by unadulterated rage.

”…”

Meanwhile, Ellia stared at the two of them, grasping hands with a frozen face.

Was it just like Tia said? These two had an awesome story to tell with their return?

”Fine, if you want to act suicidal, just know Iʼm doing the same thing as that woman in that story.”

”You-”

Davis stared at Myria, who sent him a soul transmission. She was blackmailing him with her own life, causing his rage to simmer down before he forced it to a controllable range. Looking at her eyes, he could tell she wasnʼt willing to back down, causing him to sigh.

”Youʼre right. From the story, their sacrifice led to a second wind for that man, which I must learn from. Iʼll be more careful.”

Myria still stared at him. She didnʼt know if he had discarded his dangerous thoughts, but she finally knew what had been affecting him ever since that incident. It had changed from sorrow to rage, making her want to embrace his rage from overflowing before it could burst.

Even now, she wished that he could abandon that treasure as it was painfully clear what kind of calamity it brought upon them when used, but he didnʼt seem to make such a decision, leaving her perplexed, unable to say anything for she knew he wasnʼt greedy for treasures, always giving them out like he had infinite resources.

ʼHas he bonded with that apex treasureʼs spirit…?ʼ

She wondered, not even knowing if their connection was genuine or if it was manipulating him.

”Excuse me, you two. You have been holding hands for half a minute already. Care to explain?”

Ellia could no longer take it as she placed a hand on her waist and pointed her finger at them.

Myria swiftly took back her hands, turning around as she adjusted her white hair over the ear and looked away.

”It must be your imagination~”

”…”

Elliaʼs brows twitched. Was she mistaken for a blind person?

”Anyways, hereʼs a gift for Xiaolan. Let her become a King-Tier Ice Phoenix as soon as she has played enough.”

Myria turned around and gifted Ellia.

Xiaolan was the Ice Phoenix they obtained from the Ice Phoenix Inheritance. She had grown to be strong, but after she gave her to Ellia, she spoiled Xiaolan beyond compare, causing her to laze around and munch on banquets along with Shirleyʼs Freya, turning into a fat phoenix while the other still stayed in physique due to being at Emperor-Tier.

The two almost always accompanied Esvele, who took care of most of the household tasks as though she were the head maid.

”…”

Only Ellia knew this, so she swiftly accepted the gift, not wanting to explain, but then recalled she was the one investigating them and fumed.

”My prince, you havenʼt hoodwinked my mother, have you?”

”Perhaps I did. What are you going to do about it, my cute Ellia?”

Davis spread his hands, moving closer as he stood in front of Ellia, their faces inches away.

*Mu~*

She pecked his lips and ran away.

”Then Iʼm unwilling!”

She yelled out in an amused voice, causing Davis to laugh lightly before he turned to look at Myria.

”Look, your daughter gave us her blessings.”

”Donʼt play.” Myria returned a stern look at him, ”She must be disgusted with me, a woman who acted so aloof yet still falling for her man.”

”Looks like you have yet to understand Ellia.” Davis shook his head, ”Thatʼs fine, but please excuse me. Thereʼs probably another soul thatʼs suffering from guilt right now.”

”Go.” Myria smiled, ”Sheʼs willing to do anything for you, even risk offending the heavens more than anyone else, perhaps more than me.”

Davis raised his hand and patted Myriaʼs head, which she swiftly grabbed as her cheeks turned red.

”Before we make it clear to everyone else and get their acceptance, I wonʼt let you take advantage of me that easily, so be satisfied with this…”

She kissed his fist, disappearing like the wind the next second, although Davis could see her fleeing silhouette very much, causing him to be momentarily mesmerized before he chuckled.

Myria almost folded in the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm because there was danger and the risk of never seeing each other again, but now that they were here in a secure place, she was back to her conservative views of wanting to do things by the book.

He wanted to give chase and corner her, wanting to savor her shy expression as he ate her up, but imagined she had her own things to do upon return just like him, causing him to swiftly head towards Evelynn.
