Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2822 Rundown

Davisʼs shoulders drooped as he shook his head.

”Well, letʼs just say that I did die but managed to come back alive almost instantly, but that thin line of deviation caused the jade tablet to perceive that I was dead.”

Drake raised his brows, ”You were instantly resuscitated? I guess thatʼs probable, but something tells me youʼre hiding something.”

”Yes.”

Davis didnʼt hide, ”And Iʼm not going to tell because you can be easily soulscoured by some random immortal here.”

”So me knowing that you are the Emperor of Death is not that big of a deal?”

”You could say that. Disguises are only worth for a while anyway, so Iʼm prepared to throw it away if the situation calls for it.”

”Then Iʼm going to reveal that youʼre the Emperor of Death as soon as I walk out of this palace.”

”Fuck. Courting death~”

*Paah~*

Davis threw his hand and slapped Drakeʼs shoulders, causing him to gawk and feel like he was stung by a giant bee as he trembled, but Davis quickly grabbed Drakeʼs shoulder and deeply sighed.

”But… thanks for showing up instead of my parents. I donʼt know what I wouldʼve done if it were them.”

”You better be grateful.” Drake scowled, ”I laid my life on the line for you, and when I think youʼre not a woman, it makes me want to vomit.”

”Tsk, tsk.” Davis snickered, ”When I think youʼre not a woman, it pains my heart too.”

”Fuck off!”

Drake kicked Davis this time but felt like he was hitting steel, causing him to hold his legs and jump around.

”Alright, letʼs stop one-upping each other.”

Drake heaved a sigh and continued, ”Things back arenʼt necessarily chaotic, as only your father, little sister, and a few elders know about your situation.”

Davis raised his brows in astonishment, ”So my father contacted you?”

”Indeed.” Drake answered Davisʼs question as he clenched his teeth, ”Do you know how worried they were about you? Your little sister Diana practically fell to her knees to beg me. Your father was also about to do that when I stopped him.”

”…”

Davisʼs expression churned. He didnʼt know what to say as he couldnʼt imagine the pain they wouldʼve felt.

”W-What about mother?”

”Your mother? She doesnʼt know about your situation.”

Davis was about to sigh in relief when Drake suddenly snickered, ”But she will come to know as it is said that she has been daily visiting the Life Tablet Hall to check on your well-being, only- she is currently pregnant with your youngest sibling, which makes it difficult for her to walk out as freely as before.”

”…!”

Davis became stunned. His mother was pregnant?

This… this was a piece of joyful news. However, he was afraid that the news of his status might cause her to have a miscarriage. Although the chances of it are less, he knew it also depended on how better a woman could control her emotions when a piece of news has a heavy impact on them.

After all, anger can burst many vessels in a cultivatorʼs body, causing them to spit blood out, while sorrow can also lead to a similar result when their hormones go astray and lead to failure of certain functions, sometimes even loss of consciousness like Tina experienced when he died.

”So,” Davis came out of his reverie, ”You came all the way here on their request. Donʼt tell me you donʼt have a plan to inform them of my situation?”

”Look…” Drakeʼs expression was solemn, ”We had a credible plan of utilizing prisoners to exchange information from here to the Grand Beginnings Continent because we now know that a personʼs life and death could be transmitted since thatʼs the case with you. Therefore, your father worked hard to collect some rare materials to create these life tablets for four prisoners within a day and gave the prisoners to me.”

”I understand.” Davis narrowed his brows, causing Drake to nod and continue.

”Each destruction of these tablets would mean something. For example, the life tablet of the first prisoner being destroyed would mean your life and death couldnʼt be confirmed. The life tablet of the fourth prisoner breaking would mean that youʼre alive and well.”

”Perfect. Execute the fourth prisoner now.”

Davis spoke without hesitation as he knew those who were kept as prisoners were mostly political prisoners or scums beyond repair. He had personally executed many of them when experimenting with Fallen Heaven, so there was no consideration in his heart for them.

However, Davis blinked as he saw Drakeʼs expression turn for the worse.

”Well… these… messengers… whom I brought… got soulscoured by the Cyan Soul Rat Clan and eaten before I was imprisoned and brought here, so I guess there goes our only viable option of informing your family that youʼre still alive...”

”Cyan Soul Rats…”

Davis clenched his teeth, his heart surging with fury.

He still couldnʼt understand why the Cyan Soul Rat Clan would antagonize him this much as their feud couldnʼt be said to be a life or death one, so the more they were against him, the more he couldnʼt understand their thoughts, but it no longer bothered him.

”Since you want it… Iʼll make sure you are wiped off this world...”

Davis spat out with rage, causing Drake to appear furious equally.

”I want to wipe those rats off this world too. I couldnʼt help but imagine what if I had brought my wives and they had been subjected to this instantly on ascension…? Just thinking about it makes me shiver with fury...!”

Drake remembered how he was suppressed upon ascension. As for the four prisoners who followed him, one of them was instantly soulscoured, causing him to be exposed as the prisoner obviously knew that he came from the Grand Beginnings Continent.

Of course, Drake had been disguised as he figured that his face mightʼve been spread around as the Emperor of Deathʼs friend. However, he didnʼt expect the Cyan Soul Rat Clan to be so overbearing with every ascender.

Although they didnʼt target the ascenders themselves, they targeted their people, which didnʼt leave much ground for other powers to criticize them as most ascenders only appeared with slaves or disposable subordinates.

Just by the ascenderʼs reaction, they could more or less discover if the ascending immortal cared about their people or not, leaving the Cyan Soul Rat Clan to do as they pleased in the Ascendance Monuments while receiving no backlash.

The Cyan Soul Rats were too cunning in what they did, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit to crush the Emperor of Death.

”My spatial ring is also confiscated, but that doesnʼt bother me as I only brought minimal things with me and left everything for my wives in the case that I actually died.”

Drake gritted his teeth, ”But the thing is… if all those life tablets end up breaking and my own jade tablet shattered upon my death, then your father emphasized that he would ascend instantly, so your only option is to keep me alive, but even then, your father said that if it took too long, like a year, he would ascend without hesitation.”

”…”

Davis inwardly groaned.

If this was the case, then he felt like he had no choice but to guard the Western Ascendance Monument by himself or have the Starlight Jade Wolf King keep on tight security.

However, he had already told Everlight to inform her ancestor, the Light Sky Wolf Immortal, to send the Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs forces to the Ascendance Monuments and shut down all contact after that to keep his life and death a mystery so that Starlight Jade Wolf King would still doubt the authenticity of his funeral.

Nonetheless, if it werenʼt Everlight informing the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan before she shut down all contact, then he felt even Drake would be soulscoured upon ascending.

This enraged him beyond compare.

Just as Davis wanted to just turn around and wreak havoc in the Zyrus Familyʼs Palace purely on emotion, Drake said something that lit up hope in his heart.

”However, your father and I did concoct a backup plan which may or may not work...”

”What is it!?”

Davis grabbed Drakeʼs shoulders, causing the latter to frown as he appeared unsure.
