New Age Of Summoners

Chapter 998: Mysterious Force

Edina Hazegroove was excited to find out that her brother had become so powerful but what she didnʼt understand was why would his brother become a mercenary?

ʼUnless something happened to the family.ʼ

That was the only thought in her mind. So, she asked Ajax with a face full of worries.

”Th..this..”

Ajax didnʼt know what to say to Edina because he didnʼt know much about Edmondʼs family.

However, he was very sure that something had happened to his family and it was definitely related to the Fire Sword Sect.

Nevertheless, it was all his assumptions. So, he was not sure whether he should answer Edind with his assumptions or not.

”Sorry to inform you of this but your Hazegroove family was destroyed a few years back.”

While Ajax was stuttering with his words, Master Elek walked towards the woman as he replied with a serious look on his face.

”Not only your? Hazegroove family but the remaining eight hidden family were also destroyed in a single night by a mysterious forces.”

Master Elek knew it was hard for Edina to know the truth; however, he felt it was better for her to knoow earlier in order to not raise her expectations to meet her family.

ʼWhat?ʼ

Edina and her husband were shocked as Edina weakly fell onto her knees as tears started rolling down her face.

ʼHow can this happen?ʼ

Nameless cultivator was just like the couple, he didnʼt know much about what happened in the outside world except for some news that was? given by the vagrant cultivators.

So, he was equally shocked by Master Elekʼs words.

Because Hidden families are the secret guardians of the Provinces and protect the provinces from the otherworldly forces like Demons and Devils.

ʼJust like I imagined that Edmondʼs family was destroyed by a mysterous force. No wonder he kept all his trump cards to himself. Even his elemental spirits, he didnʼt summon them except for a single elemental spirit recently.ʼ

ʼAlso, I must follow his advice strictly in summoning my elemental spirits and contracted spirit beasts.ʼ

Ajax was not shocked by Master Elekʼs words because he was already expecting something like that to have happened.

However, he understood one thing and it was why Edmond always wanted him to keep his trump cards a secret.

Because in this world, one canʼt predict who would attack you.

”How could this be?”

”Who could have done it?”

”What did the Hidden families do that destroyed them?”

While sobbing, Edina thought of many questions as she muttered to herself; however, those questions were clearly heard by everyone.

”Edina, donʼt worry. We will meet your brother and ask him.”

Edinaʼs husband revealed a sad look on his face as he tried to calm his wife.

”...”

Even though Master Elek had some clue regarding what mastermind behind the massacre, he didnʼt say it because it was Edmondʼs wish to let his sister know about it or not.

”I think it must be the Fire sword sect.”

All of a sudden, Ajax spoke his inner thoughts.

”Fire sword sect?”

The man frowned when he heard Ajaxʼs words as though he wanted to retort his words.

”Ajax, you are wrong. This is not the work of the Fire sword sect because they were not powerful enough to clear all eight hidden families in a single night.”

Before the man named Bren could retort Ajaxʼs words, Master Elek shook his head as he explained.

”But it is always possible for the fire sword sect to form an alliance with other sects and great families, right?” Ajax was not convinced by Master Elekʼs words as he continued, ”Moreover, Captain Edmond hates the fire sword sect to the core. What more reason do you need to hate a sect that much unless they destroy your entire family.”

Ajax noticed how much Captain Edmond hates the fire sword sect. So, Ajax was very sure that Edmond knew there was an involvement of the fire sword sect in the destruction of his family.

”Young man, you might have saved us but donʼt blame my Fire sword sect unnecessarily.”

Finally, the man named Bren could not take Ajaxʼs accusations of the fire sword sect and warned him not to say such words.

”Huh? Why are you getting angry? Is there something wrong with what I said?”

How could Ajax back down that easily?

Keeping aside the fact that Captain Edmond hates the fire sword sect to the core, Ajax also didnʼt like it because both Elders and disciples were arrogant and didnʼt value the lives of others.

”You”

The man became very angry because he was born and raised in the fire sword sect and now, someone is framing it for the destruction of the hidden families. So, how could he keep quiet even after listening to that bullshit?

Just when the man was about to attack Ajax, Master Elek appeared in the middle while facing Ajax and said, ”Ajax, what he said was right. The fire sword sect canʼt be the mastermind or involved with the destruction of the Hidden families.”

”Huh?”

Ajax was surprised at Master Elekʼs words; however, this time he didnʼt say anything because Master Elek lived much longer and knew many things regarding the Zrochcester province.

”I know you must be unconvinced but thereʼs a particular reason for the fire sword sect to not attack or involve themselves with the attacks towards the Hidden families and their descendants unless the Hidden families attack them first.”

Seeing the unconvinced look on Ajaxʼs face, Master Elek continued informing him, ”The reason is the old sect master of the fire sword sect strictly prohibited them from doing so and in any case, if the sect attacked, then the sect would lose its protection cast by their ancestor.

”Oh.”

Ajax was surprised to find out such a thing existed; however, that gave rise to another question, ”So, why would Captain Edmond hate them so much?”
