Yu Ying blinked her pink eyes while looking at the fried mushrooms, involuntarily gulping.

The wafting aroma was simply too enticing, making it impossible to resist.

“Xiao Yu, brew some tea. The mushrooms might be a bit dry on their own.” Su Bai said.

“Okay.” Yu Ying hurriedly turned to prepare it.

“Shaman, are they ready to eat?” Yan Hua’s gaze also fell upon the fried mushrooms.

Co Co was also mesmerized, saliva already pooling in her mouth, her throat visibly moving as she swallowed.

“They’re ready to eat. Use chopsticks though.” Su Bai reminded them, not wanting them to eat with dirty hands and get stomach aches.

“Okay.” Yan Hua picked up her chopsticks, waiting for the Shaman to eat first before taking a piece.

Sha Lan did the same. All waiting for Su Bai to eat before daring to use their chopsticks. Co Co also awkwardly but successfully managed to use chopsticks to pick up a fried mushroom.

*Crunch crunch…* The fried mushrooms made crisp crunching sounds as they were chewed.

Yu Ying arrived fashionably late after brewing the tea, also taking a piece of fried mushroom.

“Shaman, this is so delicious!” Yu Ying’s pink eyes suddenly widened dramatically, her expression full of delight.

“It’s so crispy and salty and… and the flavour is so fragrant. It’s so delicious!” Co Co exclaimed.

This was her first time tasting food like this. This was also her first time experiencing such a texture – her first time eating something so crispy.

This was muscle memory, and it could not lie. She knew she had never eaten something like this before. This was truly novel, and it was simply too delicious.

“It’s different from any food we’ve had before.” Yan Hua said, her mouth already stuffed with fried mushrooms.

She was stunned by her first bite of such eye-opening food. The aroma lingering in her mouth was truly unforgettable.

“This is nature’s delicacy. There are many delicious things in the forest.” Su Bai remarked.

Although these fried mushrooms had not reached the level of deliciousness he had hoped for, they were quite good by the current Primitive standards.

At least there was salt and cumin – without them, even fried food would probably be hard to swallow, and tasteless.

“It’s really delicious.” Yu Ying also kept eating the fried mushrooms.

“Shaman, there are still so many left. Should we make all of them into fried mushrooms?” Yan Hua asked.

Su Bai looked back at the remaining mushrooms and said, “There are many other delicious dishes we can make, not just fried mushrooms.”

There were so many ways to cook mushrooms – not just frying, but stir-frying, boiling, even making soup were all good.

“Shaman, then… then what else can we… Can we make with these mushrooms?” Yu Ying asked with her mouth still full of fried mushrooms, speaking unclearly.

Su Bai looked at the mushrooms in the winnowing basket, noticed there were some black fungus, and suddenly thought of cold dressed black fungus salad.

He smiled and said, “Xiao Yu, prepare some Ocean Lily Fruit and chili peppers for me. I’ll make a cold dish for all of you.”

“Okay.” Yu Ying grabbed another piece of fried mushroom before leaving.

“Cold dish? Shaman, what’s a cold dish?” Yan Hua asked curiously, this term was new.

“A cold dish is a cold appetizer, not hot.” Su Bai explained simply and directly.

Yan Hua nodded with partial understanding. “Not hot? So after it is cooled?”

“Haha… you’ll know in a moment.” Su Bai poured some water into the iron wok, preparing to boil it for the black fungus.

*Bubble bubble…* The water in the iron wok gradually came to a boil, and Su Bai put in the cleaned black fungus, letting them roll around inside.

A few minutes later, he scooped out the cooked black fungus to cool for later use, then started cutting chilies and squeezing Ocean Lily Fruit juice.

Since Ocean Lily Fruit was sour, it could substitute for vinegar, as they did not have any vinegar right now.

After preparing the sauce, Su Bai brought over the cooled black fungus and poured it all into the sauce and started to mix.

After skilfully mixing it, he tasted it and said with satisfaction, “Although the taste is different from what I’ve had before, the flavour profile is decent.”

“Shaman, can this really be eaten?” Yan Hua looked at the black fungus that was dark in colour.

“Of course, it’s quite nice. Try it.” Su Bai passed the plate over.

Yan Hua picked up her chopsticks and experimentally took a small piece to her mouth. After two bites, her face lit up with joy.

She nodded repeatedly to indicate it was delicious, “So mushrooms can have this kind of taste, it’s so good!”

“This is called black fungus, it’s better cold dressed.” Su Bai explained.

Back on Earth, this appetizer was often served at the table, loved by people of all ages. Besides being refreshing, it was also very appetizing, and moreover, it was not difficult to make or expensive.

Yu Ying was also driven by curiosity, using her chopsticks to take a piece to her mouth, also nodding repeatedly in praise.

Sha Lan and Co Co were no exception, both taking pieces to eat, and their reviews were also unanimously positive.

“Shaman, this is also very delicious. I could eat a lot of it.” Yu Ying said happily, wagging her pink fox tail.

“If you like it, eat more. There’s plenty. Today, we’ll have a mushroom feast.” Su Bai smiled.

“Shaman, what other ways can mushrooms be cooked? I want to learn.” Yu Ying said expectantly.

The fox eared girl also wanted to learn more about cooking delicious food, so she could make more dishes for the Shaman. Rather than just Wolf Tail Grass Noodle and roasted meat, there would be more variety of food and more choices.

“Then, just watch from the side. I’ll make mushroom and bone soup next.” Su Bai said.

He had not properly had a bowl of soup since coming to the Tribe. Now that he had fresh mushrooms, perfect for making soup, he could not hold back anymore.

Su Bai had Yu Ying clean some Beast Bone and other ingredients while he prepared to boil water.

The other girls quietly watched from the side, but they did not plan to learn, knowing they would not be able to do a good job anyway.

“Xiao Yu, watch me do it once first, then ask me if there’s anything you don’t understand,” Su Bai said.

“Yes.” Yu Ying nodded firmly.

Su Bai washed the ribs clean and chopped them into small pieces, then added cold water to the iron wok and put in the ribs before lighting the fire.

He waited for the water to boil, then scooped out the blood foam from the surface, set aside the ribs for later use, then washed the white mushrooms in water and briefly blanched them.

Finally, he added fresh water to the wok, put in the blanched ribs, green onion, ginger, garlic and some other seasonings.

“Now we just wait. Once it boils and we add salt, it will be ready to eat.” Su Bai smiled.

“Okay,” the girls responded in unison.
