Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 941: Chapter 398: Peace Envoy 3

Before the action, Kristen mentioned that the biggest crisis faced by the person he wanted to rescue was confusion, unable to see the future.

What he needed to do, besides rescuing them, was to provide revelation and let them choose their own path.

As an entertainer, to avoid making the matter boring, Kristen did not disclose information about the person he wanted to save; the other’s identity as the Saint Heir was something he learned from Yu Na.

In Grimland’s Holy Awakening Sect, the actual controller of the religion is Julie, but the official spiritual symbol is Queen Olivia.

Although Julie frequently appeared confused, Olivia, as a queen who was sidelined, only managed to reclaim some power through discovering the Extraordinary Steam Engine, making her situation even more challenging than Julie’s.

This made Wu Chang unable to confirm who among them was the Saint Heir referred to by Kristen for a long time.

Until he saw Xavier and Phantom’s resentment and discovered Olivia’s apparent weakness was all a disguise for others; she had actually been clear in her plans from early on, with no confusion at all.

Excluding Olivia, the Saint Heir naturally is Julie.

He agreed to Kristen’s commission to help Julie, making both Kristen and Julie his clients.

Wu Chang, known for his ethics in cooperation, since he agreed to Kristen, he had to fulfill it.

Compared to whether the Steam Phantom Plane turns into the Mechanical World, he cared more about helping Julie overcome her confusion, so he would respect any choice Julie made.

Since Julie chose to have him stop Olivia, as the entrusted party, he naturally had to act.

Currently, Grimland is completely filled by the Steam Rules, and now these Steam Rules are directly discharged by the Differential Machine, which is reputed to connect with the Plane Will; the effects of the rules emitted by the Plane Will are imaginable.

At this moment in Grimland, even the Power of Root cannot exert its proper effects if it doesn’t align with the Steam Rules.

To defeat Olivia, there seem to be only two ways.

One is the Item; unfortunately, Wu Chang’s Lake Light Holy Sword’s ability has already been used on Xavier, and he lacks the skills to refresh the Item Skills’ cooldown. Even if the cooldown is refreshed, whether the Knight’s Sword can be wielded against the queen he has to protect remains unknown.

The other is Divinity.

To counter the Power of Rules, it seems only Divinity, unaffected by the Power of Rules, can stand a fighting chance.

For instance, by asking Erin to act.

But due to the restrictions of Plane Rules, Erin’s Divine Kingdom is confined within the Gray Church Slums.

When leaving the slums, Olivia is blessed with the entire Plane Rules’ power, and if finding herself incapable of defeating her forcefully, in a global tug-of-war with Erin, dragging into a long-term battle, Erin, without Divine Power replenishment, wouldn’t easily win in a short time.

The best method is for Erin to hide in the shadows, waiting for Olivia’s panic retreat before launching a sudden sneak attack, subduing her in one move.

How to make Olivia retreat requires using the third method to defeat Olivia, which is generally not achievable by most.

Defeating her within Olivia’s rules.

The Steam Rules do not only allow the use of steam engines to invoke power; to be precise, the essence of Steam Rules is Technology Rules.

Just as when Steam Rules enveloped Grimland before, the abilities of Jack of All Trades, the Gun Saint, and Booker were still usable, and when facing Xavier, the White Ghost Item could also function normally.

Speaking of Technology Rules, Olivia then brought out the lion-shaped Mechanical Beast made from the Extraordinary Steam Engine; there’s nothing more suitable for grand debut from his personal space at this moment.

Wu Chang True Self waved his hand, and a purple mecha six meters tall appeared behind him.

Steam Rules surrounded the mecha, and did not suppress the purple mecha. Just as he speculated, technology-oriented skills and items belong within the Steam Rules domain.

Julie, as a native of the Steam Phantom Plane, had never seen such a spectacle; she looked at the giant mecha in amazement and disbelief, asking:

”Sean, what is this?”

Wu Chang’s true self replied, ”It is said to be some kind of large robot; the first time I saw it, I was also greatly startled.”

His true self assisted, saying:

”Julie Archbishop, its name is ’Peace Envoy,’ an apparatus that brings peace wherever it goes.”

While speaking, the Peace Envoy extended its hand to his true self, who jumped into the palm of Peace Envoy, and Peace Envoy moved its hand, delivering him to the cockpit at the chest of the mecha.

The true self entered the mecha, with an almost seamless perspective shift, his perception merged with Peace Envoy.

This was his first activation of Peace Envoy, and using it felt as familiar as using his own body.

He maneuvered the mecha, approaching Olivia.

The lion-shaped Mechanical Beast under Olivia’s feet had a body length close to fifteen meters, but in terms of height, it was similar to Peace Envoy. Wu Chang’s current view inherited from Peace Envoy, making the two roughly face each other at eye level.

In terms of size, the lion-shaped Mechanical Beast had the upper hand, but in terms of craftsmanship precision, mechanical feel, and technological content, the two were on completely different levels.

The lion-shaped Mechanical Beast’s surface made of huge cannons, joints connected by Franken-level Extraordinary Machine Tools, both aesthetically pleasing and not hindering movement. Through the gaps on the Mechanical Beast’s body surface, one could see the massive gears turning inside, and the pistons serving as tendons, along with the power furnace located at the heart.

The lion-shaped Mechanical Beast in the Steam Phantom Plane exuded a powerful aura; yet standing before Peace Envoy, from design aesthetic to exterior coating to overall functionality, it seemed crude and primitive.

Fueled by the continuous emissions from the steam engine, the contrast between them resembled that between a dapper gentleman and a ragged old stray dog gasping heavily while lying on the ground.

Wu Chang’s true self amplified his voice through Peace Envoy, addressing Olivia:

”Her Majesty the Queen, the omniscient authority of your Differential Machine claims to predict everything; has it anticipated my appearance?”
