Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 904: Chapter 386: Maybe I Can Give It a Try_2

Among them, the strongest and most substantial strike was blocked by the Executioner using a serrated long knife.

The Phantom was about to change the trajectory of the blade but saw the Executioner’s left hand squirm, transforming from a two-meter-long gun to a short and thick barrel.

Accompanied by flames, the barrel shot out dense, tiny bullets.

Not good.

Upon seeing this, the Phantom quickly adapted his tactics and dodged using the Power of Root’s speed ability.

But he was simply too close to the Executioner; the bullets shot by the Executioner were wrapped in steam and unaffected by his ability, making it too late to dodge.

Sword Star couldn’t see how deeply the Executioner was hurt; he only saw a cloud of blood burst out in the air, then the Phantom turned into a ray of light and staggered away from Bai She Avenue.

Cold Mountain was the last to act; after Sword Star and Phantom’s probing, he saw the steam rules protect the Executioner, making dispersed energy attacks hard to damage the Executioner’s core.

So he compressed the energy to its extreme, turning it into a slender ice cone twenty centimeters long. With Phantom’s cover, after the Executioner fired a shot, he seized the gap to get to the Executioner and thrust the ice cone into the breach opened by Sword Star.

The ice cone penetrated the Executioner’s body, whereupon the cold Power of Root erupted, instantly freezing the Executioner, causing his body to stiffen and form an ice shell.

Cold Mountain did not hold back on this strike, using his full power; even if it were an Extraordinary Steam Engine’s burning boiler, a jab from him would instantly freeze it.

If it were other steam-modified humans or Steam Councilors, even with steam rules for protection, they would be frozen into ice sculptures.

But the Executioner was different; he had consumed Jack of All Trades, granting him incredibly strong Life Force.

Before Cold Mountain could follow up and consolidate his next attack, he saw the Executioner under the ice shell, with gears inside his body slowly starting to rotate.

The Executioner was adjusting with unbelievable speed to the extreme cold created by the Power of Root.

Even Cold Mountain felt momentarily helpless; if the Executioner fully adapted to his Power of Root and broke free from the frozen state while the Phantom has already fled, it would be hard for him and Sword Star to emerge victorious.

They currently faced two choices: one was to fight to the death with the Executioner, utilizing all their abilities in an attempt to activate and eliminate the Executioner before he breaks free.

The second choice was a strategic retreat, first to regroup with Peace and others. With the addition of Peace and Divine Tongue, facing the Executioner again would be much easier.

The downside, however, is that many Extraordinary individuals and important figures on Bai She Avenue would likely suffer casualties.

As Cold Mountain was pressed for time, the scales tipped entirely towards the first choice without even a symbolic stalemate.

Better a friend in peril than oneself; he had briefly frozen the Executioner to buy time for the others. Whether they could escape would depend on their own luck.

He withdrew the Flying Sword from the Executioner’s chest, tossed it to Sword Star, and without unnecessary conversation, the two intuitively began to swiftly leave.

As they passed a small alley, a man in a Priest Robe suddenly rushed out, shouting:

”You leaders, take me with you.”

Cold Mountain frowned and reached out to freeze the guy before him and throw him back.

The Priest quickly said, ”I know where there are good horses!”

Cold Mountain’s movement shifted, patting the Priest’s shoulder, ”Lead the way.”

Under the Priest’s guidance, the three found where the carriages were parked at the Police Hall, and the Priest unloaded three horses from the Holy Awakening Sect’s carriage.

To emphasize his worth, the Priest added, ”The Holy Awakening Sect’s horses have undergone special training, not weakened even in extreme odors. They’re undoubtedly good horses.”

The three mounted the horses, Cold Mountain said, ”Stay close to us, don’t fall behind.”

Riding swiftly away from Bai She Avenue, Cold Mountain stated, ”The Executioner will completely break free from the frozen state in at most half a minute; we must find a safe place.”

Recalling something, Sword Star said, ”Gray Church Slums! There’s supernatural protection there that can resist the dungeon plane’s steam rules.”

”When we met Peace earlier, he mentioned that no matter who pursues us, as long as we enter the slums, Sean’s wife there can guarantee our safety.”

Cold Mountain puzzled, ”Sir Sean’s wife, a native of the plane?”

Sword Star nodded, ”That’s what Peace said.”

Without hesitation, Cold Mountain said, ”Trust Peace, let’s head to the Gray Church Slums!”

In Grimland West District, inside Judge Gasco’s Manor.

Whenever the Conservative Party does dirty work, they gather in this manor to discuss, and afterward, they also meet here, known within the Conservative Party and landed nobility as the Noble Members.

But now, the Noble Members belonging to the landed nobility have completely fallen; under the Secret Magic Knight Order’s assault, they couldn’t even resist and were easily breached.

The Conservative Party members gathering for discussion were brought into separate rooms by Secret Magic Knights and questioned with Truth Serum.

The lower-level workers, the enforcers, were bound hand and foot, mouths gagged, thrown into carriages, and subsequently sent to the Police Hall, exiled overseas.

As for the players who joined the Conservative Party, upon hearing of the Gunslinger’s disappearance, Wu Chang didn’t trouble the other players, merely had them detained and taken to the Secret Security Department.

Once matters settled, they could post bail to gain freedom.

If they could provide sufficient benefits, they could be released and complete a mainline quest; those unable to pay the ransom would be kept until the mainline quest concluded.
