Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 930: Chapter 395: Differential Machine

”How is that possible.”

The Phantom felt the steam rules suddenly manifesting around him, disbelief written all over his face.

There were actually three plane sons in the Steam Phantom Plane.

Inhaling deeply within the suffocating mist, the Phantom could feel the world’s will suppressing him. The immense oppressive force rendered all of his extraordinary power, including the Power of Root, unusable.

Even his body attributes were weakened to a certain extent.

Olivia’s voice came from behind the Phantom, ”The words ’impossible’ should not be uttered by a Transcendent.”

The Phantom turned towards the sound, swung his saber in the dense fog, slicing out. The blade cut into the mist but did not disperse it, nor did he feel the feedback of hitting anything solid.

When he retrieved the saber, a faint rust appeared on the blade.

Not only him, but even the items he used were being rejected by the plane because they were incompatible with the plane rules.

Olivia’s mastery of the steam rules, though lacking in divinity, was still a bit stronger than Xavier’s.

This made the Phantom even more baffled.

Normally, a plane would only have one plane son grow to maturity.

Because the indicator of a plane son’s growth is their ability to influence the entire plane’s rules with their own Power of Root, thereby drawing on the entire plane’s power.

To be able to draw on the entire plane’s rules, the plane rules and the Power of Root must be completely identical, resonating with each other.

In other words, only when a plane rule is entirely influenced by a certain rule will a plane son corresponding to that rule be born.

Once a mature plane son appears, other yet-to-mature plane sons will be directly eliminated, unable to mature.

Because the path is already blocked.

But Olivia’s situation was different. The Power of Root she used had the same corresponding plane rules as Xavier, allowing two mature plane sons to appear in the Steam Phantom Plane simultaneously.

And with Xavier’s downfall, the plane son’s destiny fully converged on Olivia, further enhancing her influence over the rules.

The Phantom panicked; he had to find a way to get out of there.

He moved in the direction he remembered would lead him out of Saint George’s Cathedral, while asking:

”Her Majesty Olivia, when did you become a plane son?”

Olivia’s voice came from all around, preventing the Phantom from determining her true location.

”Five years ago, when I confirmed the feasibility of the Extraordinary Steam Engine.”

The Phantom estimated the distance in his mind and quickened his pace.

”Then why did you allow the existence of the Steam Council?”

Olivia’s tone was calm:

”Because the timing was not right, and there are things I can’t do myself. If discovered, Julie would be unhappy.”

The Phantom asked in confusion, ”Archbishop Julie?”

He didn’t understand what Julie had to do with it. To him, Julie was just one of Olivia’s subordinates.

But it didn’t matter because he had already arrived at the secret passage leading from the underground to the upper levels. As long as he left the underground space and returned to Saint George’s Cathedral, he would no longer be suppressed by the plane rules.

At that time, relying on his Power of Root, even if he couldn’t win, escaping wouldn’t be hard.

He entered the secret passage and moved quickly, but after a few steps, he noticed something was off.

The dense fog around him hadn’t dissipated, and the texture of the stone steps below him was unlike what he remembered.

Olivia’s voice sounded again, ”Yes, including bringing you to the deepest part of the underground before making a move was to avoid disturbing her being too close to the surface.”

As Olivia spoke, the fog around him lightened, revealing that he had not entered the secret passage but a metal-crafted special space.

The steam rules not only suppressed his body attributes but also misled his inspiration.

A great sense of foreboding arose in the Phantom’s heart. He took out a dungeon escape item to exit the dungeon, only to find that in this metal-crafted special space, the item couldn’t activate.

The next moment, he felt the space’s temperature rise, and the faint sound of steam emerged around him.

Then the Phantom heard the last words he’d ever hear: ”What a pity, I truly had high hopes for you.”

On Bai She Avenue, Wu Chang’s body and true self returned to the Secret Security Department with Xavier’s body.

By the time he returned to Bai She Avenue, the Steam Phantom Plane had already fallen into place, with the steam rules no longer limiting the abilities of Transcendents. The fog that had long shrouded Grimland vanished along with the steam rules.

Looking up at the starry sky, Wu Chang felt an inexplicable refreshment, even more so than when he first entered the dungeon plane.

The members of the Secret Magic Knight Order, under Raventon’s command, were cleaning up the mess on Bai She Avenue.

If only the Executioner had acted, they could hurry to repair it without the public noticing.

But with Xavier’s additional havoc, nearly half the buildings on Bai She Avenue were heavily damaged, making it impossible to hide.

Raventon was guiding Randy and the Police Hall’s upper echelons on how to give an explanation to the public the next day.

Ten minutes later, Cold Mountain and Sword Star returned from the Gray Church Slums. Wu Chang’s true self, alongside other players, joined them heading to the Steam Council’s base at the Colinwood Processing Plant.

In the underground hideout, they found the Steam Council’s most core research.

Franken-level Extraordinary Machine Tools.

This machine could process inanimate objects possessing extraordinary power with living entities, allowing the living being to acquire some of the extraordinary power from the fused object.
