Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 920: Chapter 391: Artificial Grudge_3

Steel body constitution and Chainsaw Staff Sword are the weapons Xavier formed for himself. He originally wanted to recreate his divine body from reality, but his belief wasn’t strong enough, so he had to settle for this form suitable for duels.

As for the steam emanating from the Chainsaw Staff Sword, it’s not for aesthetic effects, but the divinity he has manifested.

Honor duels do not prohibit titles, nor do they prohibit divinity.

If not for the Power that forms honor duels, involving order accessible only by the pinnacle of lower-level Gods, Xavier wouldn’t be forcibly drawn into the Holy Land just relying on his inner divinity.

In his view, the remaining divinity inside him is his trump card to defeat Wu Chang, the violator.

While in Wu Chang’s view, it’s fair that Xavier keeps his divinity and Wu Chang keeps the title ”Blasphemer”.

Although Xavier founded the Steam Council with the intention of overthrowing everything, he also came from a noble family and was not unfamiliar with swordsmanship; in fact, his skill was quite profound.

He assumed a single-handed sword stance, facing Wu Chang sideways, his right hand holding the Chainsaw Staff Sword like a Swift Sword pointing at Wu Chang, while his other hand held a cape as vivid red as a matador’s.

He said, ”I am ready.”

Wu Chang shrugged and said, ”I can start anytime.”

As the two declared their readiness, a flag appeared between them and waved downwards.

The duel began.

Wu Chang was in a very relaxed status. Honor duels do not prohibit passive skills; with master-level cold weapon skills, there’s no reason for him to lose to Xavier, so he was not in a hurry to strike, taking the opportunity to ask questions.

After all, you can’t ask once you beat the person to death later.

”Mr. Xavier, between Peace and my assistant, there’s a special communication magic that allows us to exchange each other’s information at any time.”

”He had a brief exchange with your friend, the Executioner, mentioning some intelligence that I’m quite curious about. Can you possibly clarify?”

Xavier’s expression became serious. He had seen the battle from afar between Peace and the Executioner, similar scenes to now, with both disappearing and reappearing soon after.

Could it be their battle was also completed in this space, and during the battle, the Executioner conveyed some information to his opponent?

He cautiously approached Wu Chang and said, ”What do you want to ask?”

Wu Chang said: ”Three and a half years ago, you and your partners together established the Steam Council, which had good prospects then.”

”But unfortunately, the clues you left behind were quickly caught by Raventon; he realized the threat you posed and, before you were well established, allied with the Secret Police to deal with you all.”

”At that time, the surviving members of the Steam Council were only you and the Executioner. You told the Executioner that you found a powerful sponsor. I want to know who this sponsor is.”

Xavier showed no expression, but his eyes seemed murderous. He hadn’t expected Wu Chang to know so much.

”I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Wu Chang shrugged and said, ”I just need a name; saying it has no impact on you.”

”The person sponsoring you must be a significant figure, at least of the level of the three ministers; there aren’t many such people, easy to guess even if you don’t say.”

”Is it Foreign Minister Evans, Chief Justice Gascogne, Acting Prime Minister Glad, or Her Majesty the Queen?”

He paused and said in a slightly exaggerated tone, ”It can’t be the deceased Prime Minister Ron, right?”

Xavier did not speak; he merely quickened his pace towards Wu Chang.

Wu Chang sighed; it seemed he had to let Xavier recognize the gap in their power, to fill Xavier with despair, and break his mental state before he would cooperate.

He held the Lake Light Holy Sword and posed in a casual sword technique gesture, instructing as a teacher would to a student:

”Make your move.”

Xavier leveraged the advantage of the Swift Sword, advancing quickly with a forward thrust. His condensed steel body constitution was strong, but without the boost from extraordinary power, his pure physical constitution was not as good as Wu Chang’s with the ”Master of Breaking the Game” enhancement.

Wu Chang easily flicked and deflected Xavier’s Chainsaw Staff Sword aside.

The staff sword’s chainsaw full of destructive power couldn’t damage the Lake Light Holy Sword with its ”Perfect Sword” attribute during the clash of blades.

After deflecting Xavier’s attack three consecutive times and taking advantage of Xavier’s unsteady center of gravity to trip him up and fling him away, Wu Chang shook his head and said:

”Too slow, too slow. If I wanted to kill you, you wouldn’t even be able to draw your sword.”

”You don’t want to talk about the sponsor, then let’s change the topic. Why are you collaborating with the Peaceful Sect?”

”Did they promise you that as long as you provide the Extraordinary Steam Engine, they’ll help you perfect the technology? Surely you wouldn’t dare use even the things Leman gave you.”

...

Unable to match physical attributes, unable to match sword techniques, unable to match weapon equipment, it seemed Xavier had no winning point in his battle with Wu Chang.

Faced with Wu Chang’s cat-and-mouse-like teasing, Xavier did not give up; he persistently waited for an opportunity.

Time passed by second by second; he couldn’t remember how many questions Wu Chang had asked. When Wu Chang lowered his guard enough and habitually asked questions, Xavier made his move.

He swung the cloak in his left hand, wrapping it around the Lake Light Holy Sword, then turned and thrust the staff sword, aiming for Wu Chang’s neck.

He had used this move many times; Wu Chang’s wrist lightly trembled, easily freeing the entwined cloak, then raised his hand to block Xavier’s staff sword.

But this time, Xavier changed the move, throwing down the cloak in his hands and drawing a black dagger with gears from it.

With all his might, he hurled the dagger at Wu Chang’s chest. Steam burst from the back of the dagger, transforming it into a phantom, pinning directly on Wu Chang’s chest.

This was the opportunity he had waited for. Only by successfully stabbing Wu Chang with this dagger, condensed with all his divine power, did he have a chance of victory.

”Silence is golden; you talk too much.”

Wu Chang staggered back a couple of steps, clutching his chest, unwillingly saying, ”Sly villain, you...”

Before he finished speaking, he casually pulled the dagger from his chest and tossed it aside.

Removing the dagger, Xavier found that the dagger, seemingly buried to the hilt, had only left a white mark on Wu Chang’s skin.

”Did you think such a little thing could hurt me?”

The dagger forged from Divine Power was indeed sharp enough, but being only sharp and lacking length, it couldn’t penetrate even his surface skin under his title ’Titan’.

Seeing Xavier’s disbelief, Wu Chang felt that the shadow he cast over Xavier should be enough to form a resentment.

From the beginning, he never expected Xavier to confess honestly, and even if he did, Wu Chang wouldn’t trust him.

Compared to the words of the living, he believed more in the information seen from a dead person’s resentment.

Since Xavier had successfully transformed into a Plane Son, and even condensed divinity, he was unsure if Xavier’s obsession was enough to form resentment, so he intended to artificially create one.

That’s why he did not promptly finish off Xavier but instead used spiritual attacks continuously, provoking Xavier while trying to make him feel powerless and desperate.

Now, it’s just about time to end all this.

”I’m getting a bit bored. If you don’t say something useful, I’ll have to show you a big surprise.”
