Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 797: Chapter 350: The Queen’s Commission (Part 3)

Compared to the Moonlight Sanatorium, Julie’s face, besides coldness and allure, carried an additional layer of sacred, inviolable attribute unique to the clergy.

This distinctive aura was like a poison, intensifying the aggression of her appearance, transforming into a commanding oppressiveness.

The moment one sees her, they naturally feel awe and the urge to worship; this aura also increases others’ desire to conquer.

Wu Chang said softly:

”How should I address you now, Nurse Julie, Knight Julie, or Archbishop Julie?”

Julie made a holy gesture towards the Holy Elephant and casually said:

”A name is just a code; it’s enough as long as we know we’re addressing each other.”

Wu Chang shrugged and said, ”Alright, Archbishop Julie, you called me back from the New World to Stilan; may I know your instructions.”

Julie stood up and said, ”Someone else has commissioned you, come with me.”

Wu Chang and Erin stood up, followed Julie, heading towards the dark passage inside the church.

On the way, Wu Chang inquired about the events after the Moonlight Sanatorium, such as Randy’s situation, whether the Peace Church was purged, and what had happened to her over the years.

According to Julie, after Wu Chang dispelled Leman’s possession, Dean Randy did not die but was saved by her and brought back to Grimland.

After the Moonlight Sanatorium incident, Dean Randy turned misfortune into a blessing, unlocking his long-hidden Mystical Talent.

A strong Mystical Talent, coupled with systematic mysticism training, allowed his power to grow rapidly, transforming him into a qualified Secret Magic Knight, even rivaling the strength of his ancestor, old Anderson.

He has now been assigned an important position; it won’t be long before the Anderson Clan’s fame is restored.

As for the Peace Church, Forest City and the Vino Clan were both purged, led by Randy, uprooting the Vino Clan.

He followed the clues, tracking down hundreds of Peace Church followers.

Those with severe offenses were hanged publicly, devoted believers were treated as serious criminals and exiled overseas, while ordinary coerced citizens were not held accountable.

Somehow, coincidentally, when talking about Julie herself, the three arrived at a hidden dark door.

Julie said, ”We’re here.”

She pushed open the door, leading Wu Chang and Erin into the dark door, where a black-robed person was already waiting.

Upon seeing Julie bring people in, the black-robed person took off the hood, revealing a radiant golden hair like sunshine and a face more dazzlingly sweet than sunlight.

Wu Chang stood in front of Erin and saluted the black-robed person, saying:

”It’s an honor to meet you, Queen Olivia.”

Without needing Julie’s introduction, he could guess the identity of the black-robed person in front of him. The elegantly moving woman, with her porcelain-perfect smile, was the nominal highest ruler of the Stilan Empire.

Queen Olivia.

”Mr. Sean, I heard of your deeds from Julie long ago, defeating the Evil God with a mortal body. Such bravery and wisdom are the finest and most precious qualities of a Secret Magic Knight.”

”I’m also pleased to meet you and the lovely lady behind you.”

Erin attempted to follow Wu Chang’s example and salute, but Wu Chang held her hand, preventing her.

How could one’s own goddess salute a mortal queen, even a knight’s salute?

”Her name is Erin, she is my wife. The religion she follows differs somewhat from the Holy Awakening Sect, please excuse her, Your Majesty.”

Olivia was rather understanding; she responded with a smile:

”I can understand; the establishment of the Holy Awakening Sect was too direct and rough, not having the best reputation among the branches of the church.”

”But our conflict is purely about power; the deities we believe in are no different.”

Wu Chang agreed on the surface, but couldn’t help rolling his eyes inside.

Keep pretending, keep pretending, the things you believe in the Holy Awakening Sect aren’t much better than the Peaceful Sect.

Unaware of Wu Chang’s thoughts, Olivia continued:

”Mr. Sean, Julie invited you back this time precisely to enlist your wisdom and power to clear the gloom over the Empire.”

Wu Chang’s expression turned slightly odd; Grimland’s smog was so severe that the city was nicknamed Fog City, this level of air management required control over factory pollution, something not within his capability.

Olivia sighed. At that moment, it was as if she had removed the armor from her body, revealing a face filled with heartbreaking worry.

”Mr. Sean, after defeating the Evil God Leman, you left Stilan for the New World, unfamiliar with Stilan’s changes.”

”In these five years, under Prime Minister Ron’s leadership, Stilan’s technology advanced rapidly; its science and industry are world-leading, yet such rapid development has brought great hidden dangers.”

Through Olivia’s description, Wu Chang gradually understood his task this time.

With technological development, various forces within the Empire no longer content with the old distribution of interests.

Beneath the Empire’s surface prosperity, turbulent undercurrents are brewing.

Previously, with Prime Minister Ron, his powerful prestige maintained the balance of various forces.

Because of this, Prime Minister Ron was overly arrogant, believing that no matter what reform, all sides would relent for his sake, leading to his downfall.

As the coachman said, Prime Minister Ron did not die of illness but from a shameful assassination.

Although Olivia lamented Prime Minister Ron’s death, as the queen, what she cared about was naturally the Empire’s overall stability.

”Before Prime Minister Ron’s death, Grimland was already full of abnormalities; Anti-Corn Laws parades, workers’ strikes, nocturnal extraordinary assassins running rampant, everyone fearful; a cholera outbreak made the living conditions in the slums difficult, the Peace Church took the opportunity to rise, attempting revival.”

”Now with the prime minister’s assassination, shadows of various forces lurk behind these events; all tools in their power struggle; with the death of Prime Minister Ron, they will cease to have scruples.”

Any weakness on Olivia’s face vanished, replaced by a resolute gaze.

”With the World Industrial Exposition imminent, this is a perfect opportunity to showcase national strength and assert our dominance. As the queen of the country, I won’t allow them to ruin this event.”

”Mr. Sean, so I wish to ask you to investigate these matters, capture the masterminds behind them, and intimidate their forces, urging restraint.”

”There’s no need to resolve all issues, just handling one or two to ensure the World Industrial Exposition proceeds smoothly will suffice.”
