Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 753: Chapter 336: The Grand Plan, Gifts, and Sneaking Out

Every time Wu Chang entered Underground Shelter No. 88, he could clearly feel the changes here.

Less than a month had passed since his last visit to the underground shelter, yet the entire place looked different.

Previously, the underground shelter, still in the midst of the apocalypse, designed everything with practicality in mind.

Whether it was city infrastructure, vehicles, or mecha design, the shapes were particularly rugged, with sharp edges.

The colors used were mostly dark and gloomy, filled with a sense of decay.

But this time entering the underground shelter, the sharp edges in the city had noticeably decreased, and rounded curves started to increase.

A significant amount of buildings and city facilities were rebuilt, with bright colors applied on the surfaces, making the city exude a vitality that didn’t match the apocalyptic setting.

Just like last time, as Wu Chang entered the underground shelter, He Yun sensed his presence and drove an aerial car to pick him up.

Wu Chang got into the aerial car, glanced at He Yun, who was sitting opposite wearing a white coat, and said:

”Miss He Yun, it seems you have grasped the essence of my cousin’s research.”

He Yun looked at Wu Chang in slight surprise, ”You can see the shadows of that research in the city planning?”

In her impression, Wu Chang wasn’t supposed to be that sharp with technology.

Wu Chang shrugged and said, ”No, I can’t see it.”

”But I know if you hadn’t made progress, you’d probably still be locking yourself in the lab and wouldn’t have time to pick me up.”

He Yun’s lips curled up, closing her eyes, she asked with a smile:

”Still holding a grudge for me ignoring you last time?”

Wu Chang pouted, ”I’m just stating the facts.”

The route to the research institute was different from before. He Yun had constructed a new large passage in the city center to facilitate travel between the first and second underground layers.

When heading to the second underground layer, Wu Chang could see a large number of shelter residents driving engineering vehicles, passing through the passage in batches, heading to the second underground layer.

Initially, he thought it was the construction of a manufacturing base, entering the final sprint, rushing to complete the work.

But upon entering the second underground layer, he saw that the planned factory buildings in the manufacturing base were all completed, and various production lines were already in operation.

Looking at the engineering convoy driving to the depths of the second layer, Wu Chang asked:

”Where are they going, expanding the second underground layer?”

He Yun replied, ”No, their task is to construct the third underground layer.”

”The third underground layer?” Wu Chang asked in confusion, ”Do you need such a large space?”

The underground shelter is not short on space; the first layer alone could be divided into suburban areas, showing there was plenty of living space.

Even if a three-child policy were implemented now, with the current population base of the underground shelter, it would take decades to fill the first layer.

Why did He Yun skip the second layer and start constructing the third layer?

Could it be to accommodate people from other underground shelters?

He Yun looked at Wu Chang, her tone mysterious:

”The third underground layer is not for living, but for a massive project, larger than integrating the Desire Stele into the underground shelter’s energy network.”

Wu Chang raised his eyebrows slightly and asked, ”Tell me more?”

Integrating the Desire Stele into the underground shelter’s energy network directly facilitated the Plane Ascension, which was a huge project from the perspective of advancing plane technology.

If there’s a project even bigger than this, what is He Yun trying to achieve, make the plane ascend directly to the Abyss Third Layer?

He Yun straightforwardly said four words, ”Purify the surface.”

Wu Chang was stunned for a moment. When he first gained temporary administrator privileges and entered the administrator’s perspective, he had seen the surface of the underground shelter plane.

He still remembered the scene: a desolate surface covered in a layer of deathly gray dust, which was not just simple pollution, but complete death.

The death of the surface.

For the vast majority of people on the underground shelter plane, obtaining enough energy and stable survival was already the limit of their imagination.

Many who had seen the surface didn’t even dare to say the words ”purify the surface” when praying to God, afraid that God might respond with, ”Let’s just talk about your wish to rule the world instead.”

Only He Yun, she had not given up hope and was preparing to act.

Damn it, this world-altering ambition, somehow it looks kind of cool.

”All I can say is, you’re truly something else.”

He Yun smiled and said, ”I also have to thank you. Your cousin tried many experiments and hypotheses attempting to condense divinity through technology, which gave me great inspiration.”

Wu Chang asked curiously, ”Can you translate it into a language I can understand and explain it simply?”

He Yun said, ”Of course, I’ll take you to the lab later and walk you through it carefully.”

The aerial car stopped at the central laboratory, and Wu Chang looked around, feeling that the manufacturing base seemed somewhat deserted.

Not only were there fewer people, but even the area that originally stored mechas had many empty spots.

When he had been here before, he could see He Yi training mecha pilots around the area, but today there was no sign of them.

He casually asked, ”Miss He Yun, where is your brother?”

He had become a martial arts master now, and he had come with the intention of finding a match.

Now he had techniques if he wanted them and martial arts; he didn’t believe that He Yi could still use his stats to treat him as a punching bag.

He Yun replied, ”He took some people out.”

”Have those who attacked the underground shelter set their sights here again recently?” Wu Chang asked with a frown.
